"the quality of this game puts shame to many AAA titles" that is so pretentious, i'm a veteran in this game with over 2000 hours in, and i couldn't agree less with that statement, or people saying "warframe is better than destiny" or every game that ressembles a bit of warframe, anyways, if you need a veteran account john, i can share you mine on steam, no longer playing warframe, you can have access to plains of eidolon, and fortuna, and every section in the game if you want to test anything else
@@dark1x Yeah, it's gorgeous on PC and PC is their main platform in the sense that all updates come to PC first. Currently, the major update "Fortuna" is on PC and it's their second open world area where you can roam around in hoverboards :D It's a great game that I started playing a couple years ago because of Totalbiscuit's "Warframe Relapse" video. Still an excellent video on the game.
How many hours does it cost one to get it to the level that "puts shame to many AAA titles"? not that I dont agree, but I spent around 20hours in Warframe last year and it looks like the type that you need years and thousands of hours to get it to full potential, and 1 person could only choose 1-2 title like that to play max
@@NicolasSilvaVasault Nothing pretentious about my opinion. If you want to compare numbers... I have been playing Warframe since closed beta and have spent well over 2.5k hours in missions. That translates to at least 5k in general. Furthermore did I play almost every major AAA title of the last 5 years and have an good idea about how game development works. Just from a objective standpoint it is easy to see that the game has amazing lighting, animations, sound design, art design, performance...and not just for a f2p game. There are a lot of clueless ignorant people out there that just jump on every hate train and have no own opinion, I am not one of them. I am sick of these mindless sheep as well, even if they support my opinion in this case.
I don't think they can do anything about the hub areas, they're a huge problem on PC as well (for me anyway) which makes me think that it's an engine issue with the handling of object drawing
There are big FPS drops on both Xbox and Playstation in that same area. Personally, I don't mind the slowdown in those areas since they aren't really action oriented.
It's due to the fact of all the cosmetics of all the players in that instance at the hub. Literally having to render every individual piece from player to player and there is damn near unlimited customizations.
For me, upgrading my i3 4370 to an i5 4460 fixed that issue for my rig. It seems that the consoles just have too weak of a CPU for those areas, but I don't imagine that would be a deal breaker.
It was awful on PS4 as well when it first came out. The surprising bit is that in the plains of eidolon at least in docked play it runs really smoothly. there are some slowdowns with a ton of enemies on screen but generally it runs perfect despite being in a huge area and it looks really beautiful too. in the plant it's one of switch is better-looking games I'd say though still short of the sharpness and high level of detail of Outlast 2
I'm not married to any brand but haven't really got any Nintendo console since the Gamecube era. However, I found a new respect for Nintendo with the Switch. It's amazing how well a game can run in its own way. I currently have a PS4 Pro and PC, but man, Switch is no slouch either. It's easy to bash it for resolution of whatever obvious difference exists between it and (insert more powerful console), but damn!!! It's remarkable how well can games be optimized.
@@garouchieflol the game is the same as the Xbox and the ps4 except they look better. That's not even counting the One X or the Pro. I own a xbox one x as well as a Switch and I can tell the majority of people who come to these videos to bash the Switch have never actually spent any time playing the Switch in real life. Nintendo is focuses more on experiences than technical specifications. When you actually experience these games with the convenience of the Switch you will understand why people rave about it.

Zelda is VASTLY overrated and gets far to much praise for what it actually is and splatoon 2 was just boring. just because its portable isn't a selling point to me infact its the worst aspect of the console as everything has to run in portable aswell as docked so the console suffers because of it due to it having to be under powered just so people can play their games while having a shit or sitting on the bus. how desperate and sad must people be that they cant even go out without having to play a game.
They did port the game to the Switch but Psyonix internal team are the ones who delivered the impressive update which dramatically improved both the performance and resolution of the game.
Almighty Nintendo Pharaoh I was curious about this. So the resolution was improved post-launch through a patch? Because I just installed Rocket League on my Switch last night and it looks and runs a lot better than I remember seeing in DF’s analysis.
Ppl just answered you, but to make it clear: that was a nightmare of a port from PB. And psyonyx came, and did a ridiculous wonderful job with the patch. Since then, I don't really trust the sentence "Panic Button do the best", I just think... Is one from the crew "at leat we are trying", and they are just improving over time in a pool where they are swimming barely alone.
one thing i really like that wasn't mentioned here is the motion controls they added into the game, they actually really help overcome some of the downsides of playing a game like this on a controller. I'm a PC player mainly and whew, playing this game on a controller was really tough at first but those motion controls help a lot.
The motion blur is absolutely sickness inducing it was the first thing I turned off within seconds of starting gameplay. Aside from that the game looks and plays much more impressively than I could have ever imagined.
SO MANY MORE PPL HATE MOTION BLUR.....SO UR WRONG DF WE ALL VOTE IT SUCKS......makes no sence to blur part of the screen, when moving. I always notice it and dislike it
@Mr. Flash yes, the first thing I want in a game about space robot ninjas that are controlled by a (spoiler) child in a weird latex suit and that race through a snow planet with hoverboards doing THPS stunts while rescuing animals.... is realism!
Do your eyes blur motion when you turn your head, turning the world around you into soup of vaseline? No. Motion blur is not more "realistic", it acts to constantly hide fine detail which is NOT what you want if your game is already sub 1080p. *edit* yes, there IS blur there, but you don't notice it because your brain and eyes don't act like a computer monitor, so you USUALLY (unless a car flies past you or something) will not experience motion blur noticeably in your everyday life, memory of blurred vision being blanked out by your brain.
@@Slamraptor "Back in the day"? I put the game down years ago, is PC no longer the first place to get content updates to test everything before pushing it further down?
8:12 Motion Blur is not "really nice" in Warframe on the Switch Digital Foundry & a lot of people do recommend turning it off right away for better image quality.
@@introvertedperson007 Okay i could see Tomb Raider and Bo4(at least that this is possible to make) but Just Cause 4 and Battleflied wouldnt be able to run on Switch.
Hey, just want to point out, since I've put 15-20 hours into switch as a new player, the hub world is far less important than you may think. As I understand it, that's the newest content on switch, and almost the entire game is accessed from your ship, and that navigation map. Once you complete the main quest segment on Cetus, you can pretty much leave it, although I understand there's lots of late game content there at the "Plains of Eidolon", a huge open world segment. Which currently takes a REALLY long time to load. That's the more relevant area of improvement for panic button's port right now. Really been loving the game so far, and I look forward to hearing more about it from DigitalFoundry. I'd love to see some more framerate tests out on the plains of eidolon, and in some more intensive missions. Coba on Earth, has a particularly frantic defense mission with lots of particle effects which you could reach quickly, and I'd love to see you record a portable player and a docked player in the same party there to compare framerates. While I'm wishing, some load time comparisons would be excellent, especially looking at that massive plains of eidolon load (both entering from Cetus and teleporting directly from the nav map, please!).
It still wouldn't be as close tho, since it'd need to have proprietary optimization - something with the Switch does have, like with Nintendo's own NVN API
@@JackFrost-1856 NVN is Nvidia's, not Nintendo And Nvidia needs the Android apps ecosystem to survive, and right now it's still the most powerful and function-rich TV box
I can play this on my Switch Lite with max settings, not only does it look amazing (for the Switch) but I haven't had any performance issues. Super impressive, I'm sure it helps that I'm new to Warframe.
I doubt that'll happen, cube maps are extremely time consuming to create and im sure panic button have pretty much moved on to doom eternal or whatever their next port will be.
@@neogiu000 I had that thought, but i think it's possible to make composable cubemaps! The cubemap could have alpha transparency where the adjacent sectors' cubemap (select sector that matches the view direction most closely, select cubemap probe from the corresponding sector boundary/portal) get composited in, followed by the sky cubemap - the reflections won't line up, but it will at least fill in the correct ambient colour, detail and directional cues. Sounds a bit shaky, but worth trying i think! The sectors are generally large enough or corridory and windy enough that chain-compositing multiple cubemaps (more than 2 sectors total + sky) should not be necessary, but it could be an option, if compositing is executed at load time or asynchronously. When doing load-time compositing rather than during drawing, you lose S3TC but the performance loss is likely to be minor enough or could be corrected by simply downsampling the cubemap 2x - still better than no cubemap. And i anticipate you could even go with the trick of runtime cubemap warping similar to Remember Me by spanning a box around nearby floor section or the boundary geometry. But this would require a lot more markup that probably isn't currently present.
I like digital foundry but they never sound enthusiastic about switch games. It seems like all they vare about is a pc that can run up to 80 teraflops. This is simply amazing that a handheld system can look this amazing, i love it.
7:00 Why would Digital Foundry tell us NOT to disable motion blur? Unless they meant it has a joke, motion blur was the 1st thing I disabled right away to keep the image sharp when moving around. A lot of other people did the same thing as well.
It depends to how developers implement it. Honestly, warframe's motion blur is the best motion blur implementation, even for me. When motion blur are disabled. It looks graphical downgrade for me.
On early levels, when playing as Excalibur, with no more than 10 enemies in sight and without using abilities, it works well enough. But when you try to play as Mirage, in a full team of ability-reliant Warframes, when there are sometimes more than thirty enemies squashed in a tiny room, the framerate drops significantly. Not even decreasing video settings helps. It's good. But surely not perfect
Why can’t the Switch have a “plugged in” mode for handheld? As in playing on the small screen but be plugged into outlet to have full power. (I travel a lot, and don’t always have a TV or dock.)
I've seen Warframe around for years, my friends played it but for some reason, it wasn't pulling on my gamer strings. But when I saw it on my Switch store, I downloaded without hesitation lol It's amazing man
Don't follow the advice given in the video - turn all of the graphics options off and you get much higher resolution and clarity, with most levels (ie. not exteriors on Earth) keeping to 720p 90% of the time even in portable mode. Definitely turn the nauseating motion blur off.
Don’t turn off motion blur? It’s always the first thing I turn off as I prefer clarity opposed to smudged graphics. GPU takes a hit with it on which matters especially on consoles.
Motion blur when implemented well works extremely well with fast paced action at 30fps. Watch Digital Foundry's video on motion blur and how certain motion blur is actually good.
The game is quite good, but on the later missions (I have copied my PC profile) the framerate is quite terrible. When you get to later missions, amount of enemies on-screen skyrockets.
I've put a good amount of time into Warframe on PS4, somewhere in the region of 150hrs+. I am now playing it on my Switch in handheld mode and I've rarely noticed frame drops, even when playing co-op, but when it does drop frames it's usually when you're playing with 2 or more people and everyone is using their Warframe powers. But I am absolutely blown away that yet again (The Amazing) Panic Button have ported the full experience of games from current gen hardware to a handheld device.
Yes but you have to like the type of game it is. If you don't like games in which grinding is the actual focus and not a wall to pad play time, then you won't like it... If you like games like Diablo, Dynasty Warriors, Borderlands and, yes Destiny, then you'd probably like it.
It's a bit of a wall to climb at first and it's a time-consuming, grindy game at its core. If you can handle slightly repetetive gameplay loop, having to look stuff up on a fan-wiki and no real goals other than the ones you've set for yourself (clear the star chart, beat the quests, do this, do that...), then you'll get a fast-paced shooter with an excellent movement system, great community, reasonable F2P model and varied gameplay (there are close to 40 different warframes, each with 4 different abilities - add various weapons, damage modifiers, different mission types, three unique factions...). It's best played in short bursts with a friend or two - log in, run a mission or two, log out.
4Horsemen of The Apocalypse yeah I have 200+ hours I love the game but I ran out of things I wanted to do so I quit but I had a great time from what I did play
To explain why there are so many PC-like options: The game was originally released on PC (and usually where you'll find the latest update) and the PS4 edition was a port, but I'm pretty sure more than a few commenters have hammered on about that already. It's also important to point out that the streamlining done to the code and performance optimizations done by Panic Button actually made it back into the original PC version of the game and are being distributed to the console ports.
@@aurora-qf2oc haha nice to see you enjoyed that gem. I also think it was a great game, aside the unoptimized ps2 version, but yeah, the pc port is the best
It does a great job smoothing out the frame drops on console. Also, motion blur is amazing. Sounds like you have had bad experiences with games that implement it poorly. Any good racing game uses motion blur incredibly well. Ghost of a tale has the best use of motion blur i've seen in a game to date.
Motion blur serves as a performance saver on low-end hardware just as much as it serves as a visual distraction. If you turn it off it is entirely possible for your FPS to drop to as low as 15 fps in the hub and 24 fps in missions.
3:393:5213:26 all these weird texture pop-ins or sometimes even flickering is pretty annoying imo and it's all over the place, I don't understand how you didn't even mention it. You 100% noticed it while playing.
@@snakeplissken7194 I noticed it's in both versions, still it's very annoying and VERY noticable while playing. There was tons of those pop-ins on the 3ds while playing, not only in cutscenes. Thanks for the insults though, fanboy.
@@cy9nvs No a fanboy, I play PC and havnt had a nintendo console since Gamecube. As for pop in all I've noticed is in the hub world and that needs work even on pc and is something DE is aware and working on so this isn't an issue with Panic Button, Nintendo, or Sony. Its on DE and they are well aware of it.
There is some in this video but the lowest resolution is slightly increased and performance doesn't tank as hard. So it's far from perfect but it's better.
i never understand why you guys has such a hard on for motion blur, i always hated it, it makes the game looks like a blurry mass, i want my game look clean and crisp
When frame rate is low, motion blur really helps. At high frame rates, not so much. Although some good motion blur can make the game look nicer even then.
Well it did get a port on Sony's PS Vita (which was terrible) I think porting Borderlands 1, 2 and The Pre Sequel is possible since UE3 is a very flexible engine to work on. Seeing as Warframe, DOOM and Wolfenstein got ported to Switch. Borderlands isn't that far to port onto the Switch.
The Game looks amazing in Portable mode. The screen is so small you don't even notice when some overall detail is missing, and for a portable gaming experience just sitting on the bed and playing this is stunning. How far we've come, thank you Panic Button! I hope you get to port many many more games!
Remember how good the motion blur in Killzone 2 was. Did anyone complain about it back then? But then you have other 30hz games like Halo 1 - 3 which don't use any motion blur and still look very smooth. I think DF tries to paint motion blur as a practical choice more than an artistic one. If motion blur's goal is to smooth over frames, why was it ostensibly never needed or asked for until the 360/ps3 generation? I think DF's love for motion blur is a consequence of spending too many hours analyzing frame by frame of games. You don't really notice how 'framey' 30 hz is until you have that context.
duedah oh god, personally I think of Killzone 2 as the worst motion blur I’ve ever seen in a video game. Never has a game given me motion sickness and made me nauseous like KZ2 has
One of the best games ever made - there I said it. I play mostly SP isometric RPGs (BG/PoE/Fallout 1 and 2/Underrail) but I love some loot based games and Warframe is just amazing! AND Digital Extremes F2P model is (right there with GGG) the best one ever.
I'd say Warframe's monetization system is quite a bit better than Path of Exile because you can trade the premium currency in Warframe and also, the cosmetics (except for Prime Accessories) are not ridiculously expensive like in PoE.
@Achirag Chirag Baldur's Gate and Grinding Gear Games @The Ninja Assassin Yeah, I agree. And with daily rewards it's REALLY easy to get 75% discount. But Path of Exile is second best
To anyone who wants to get into Warframe for the first time ever I cannot stress just how important it is to be willing to ask for help from a friend who's played the game to region chat. It is preferable however to watch a TH-cam series on it so you don't have to read the wiki most of the time, though even to someone who's a 5 year veteran like myself has to go on there every once in a while. The TH-camr Better Name Pending just dropped a really good video for newer players to get the gist of the game and iFlynn has one of the best long form series for new players getting into Warframe for the first time.
It may be an engine issue. There's a lot of assets to load, lots of server traffic to handle... It chugs on my notebook even at low settings and PoE takes forever to load, but once I'm out, the only dips I get are from lag spikes.
Collaboration between 2 vet developers produces quick results. Panic botton ,according to head developer of Digital extremes, has been a great help in optimizing the evolution engine.
he means that aside from resolution, they're both the same visually. like two pcs running them at medium settings but one has a lower resolution and framerate than the other.
I'm amazed at what Panic Button is able to on the Switch. I've played the PC version, the PS4 version and the Switch version. Its totally fine to play on the Switch, the difference(other than control) is very minimal.
@@RazorEdgeBullie it blurs all moving objects, so if my brain tries to focus on one particular enemy, I get pretty sick, due to that enemy being a blur, and focusing on a blur is not something my eyes are good at. They praised mb in sunset overdrive too, and that game on pc is 60 fps (but they did mention that it works differently in games from insomniac, but on my xbox I was really pissed off by the mb and 30 fps lock, that was the sole reason I waited for it to come to PC).
PC Warframe player here from launch. I can attest to Warframe itself being a "relatively light" game to play even back then (barring the obvious performance issues at the launch). I can get a 3yrold crappy PC to play at 60fps easily as well as my main rig, just some settings changes. Warframe is insanely scaleable on PC over its 5 yr lifespan (given you have a PC built in that same period with period-appropriate hardware), so the Switch launch being as good as it was isnt fully surprising to veterans of the game. What is surprising is how many settings can remain on at its performance point.
Diego Vasquez he’s talking about a reflex shooter aka reaction based shooter. Where a single millisecond can be the difference between winning or losing.
@@diegovasquez6409 Oh, I meant those games where you have to press 'fire' first in order to win. They're usually very PVP-focused. So the input lag matters a ton. But Warframe's more like "Hold down fire and mow down the enemy" kinda game, so input lags would have less impact on the experience than it would on the "twitch shooters".
I keep it one even on pc. If you play the game the way ints intended. Non stop break neck speeds. Then the action feel much faster and intense. When you take it off you feel like running in molasses. Stop standing and shooting and move you dunce.
The first thing I noticed was that I didn't notice anything. It just looked and played exactly like Warframe. And then I remembered: "Wait a minute, I'm sitting in my offices kitchen with a portable device in my hand!"
Brilliant video DF and great stuff guys. Panic Button has done wonders again with porting Warframe onto the Switch and this is definitely the best Free too Play game around and one of the best 3rd Party Titles on the system plus it's better than Destiny aswell.
yep, with the 200 hours. Those will get you all of the main storylines along with very strong familiarity with all the gameplay systems like modding and crafting. However, at around those 200 hours, is where you really start enjoy the game since you have all the basics down and then the true grind begins for everything you just want to max or try out.
I played the XBOne version a bit and loved the quality of the game. So when I loaded up the Switch version I was pretty impressed with how well it plays and how good it looks. You CAN tell some of the cutback they had to do to get it working. Namely the hub town and the reflection inside the ship looking weird as you walk down the stairs, but other than that, when running around levels and doing all the Ninja stuff it feels fantastic. ABSOLUTELY worth downloading if you have a Switch.
Warframe is the 5th ranked game by players in the steamchats, just above GTAV. It's been in the top 10 for years already. with over 50k players online at any given time and peaks of close to 200k people. it's also pretty much the nicest F2P driven game that mostly monetizes via cosmetics. The ONLY items that are not gainable via player progress area few cosmetics (capes and weapon skins mostly) that release every 3 months and those through a program where 3rd party designers (often fans with 3d skill) design skins for Warframes and Weapons and sell them via Steam with the income divided 3 way between Digital Extremes, the Artists and Steam. However the majority of cosstmetics avaliable are for players to gain via gameplay progression and/or trade with other players. It also has one of the nicer playerbase around, that is very friendly and welcoming to new players.
Im confused howbyou say a game like this side by side with the ps4 version is pretty much the same, but when it comes to xbox one regular console side by side with the ps4 the differences is huge????
I believe the comment is: when you compare those two home consoles, the only difference is the resolution and you can tell which one is better. But when comparing to switch, it is a small tablet running the same game, and aside from optimization you don't loose any features, meaning is the same game on a 7 inch screen on the go. Sounds like a fair assessment to me.

I'm genuinely impressed. I think this is absolutely the best way it could possibly go on a system like the Switch. Of course there was no way it was going to match the PS4 or especially PC versions. But it works, and it's a trooper, and the actual gameplay sections are steady. I just wish you were able to use your PS4 account on the Switch version at the same time. I'd love to play my account on PS4 when I want to sit in front of the tv, but on the Switch if I feel like playing in my bed. That would be fantastic.
Because the human eye needs motion blur to be satisfied with what it sees? _Especially_ at lower frame rates? The game looks less blurry with it off, but it looks way more jittery as a result and gives a false impression of unresponsiveness.

That translates to at least 5k in general. Furthermore did I play almost every major AAA title of the last 5 years and have an good idea about how game development works.
Cédrick it might be hardware limitations for you cause my pc has little problems
The surprising bit is that in the plains of eidolon at least in docked play it runs really smoothly. there are some slowdowns with a ton of enemies on screen but generally it runs perfect despite being in a huge area and it looks really beautiful too. in the plant it's one of switch is better-looking games I'd say though still short of the sharpness and high level of detail of Outlast 2

one thing i really like that wasn't mentioned here is the motion controls they added into the game, they actually really help overcome some of the downsides of playing a game like this on a controller.

*edit* yes, there IS blur there, but you don't notice it because your brain and eyes don't act like a computer monitor, so you USUALLY (unless a car flies past you or something) will not experience motion blur noticeably in your everyday life, memory of blurred vision being blanked out by your brain.
i like well tuned motion blur. not the case in this game. it's completely overdone.

Just looking at the switch, you see how the shield tv could have been so much more if it wasn't for Android OS.
It still wouldn't be as close tho, since it'd need to have proprietary optimization - something with the Switch does have, like with Nintendo's own NVN API
@Multiplatform Gamer yes the Switch OS is also based off Unix :p
@@JackFrost-1856 NVN is Nvidia's, not Nintendo

I can play this on my Switch Lite with max settings, not only does it look amazing (for the Switch) but I haven't had any performance issues. Super impressive, I'm sure it helps that I'm new to Warframe.
PB should implement a cubemap on the reflections during the portable play at least.
I doubt that'll happen, cube maps are extremely time consuming to create and im sure panic button have pretty much moved on to doom eternal or whatever their next port will be.
Yeah
I don't know if that would really work (at least not easily), because the levels are randomly generated
Well, i'm sure you just can toss a "good enough" looking cubemap without much effort, don't actually need to match the place 100%

Some people said motion blur actually caused choppiness.
This game is 30fps and the implementation is ok. Even at 60 I had it on before going to 144 on pc.
Motion blur makes me ill, I cant play with it.
Plays and looks better now! I think there's been several updates since this video came out! 👍
"You shouldn't disable motion blur" are you out of your mind motion blur sucks.
on pc i 100% agree with you but on switch it helps a lot. Motion blur with 30fps is a good thing
They chose the options to balance battery life and heat.
Megumin Arch Wizard The switch still cools itself in docked, so it should be able to run like docked while plugged in.
It's because of the heat from the screen btw.
These videos are so well put together, thanks again.
Motion blur is only nice when it’s more subtle and natural. Extreme motion blur and NO motion blur BOTH look fake and artificial
I've seen Warframe around for years, my friends played it but for some reason, it wasn't pulling on my gamer strings.
But when I saw it on my Switch store, I downloaded without hesitation lol
It's amazing man
Guys, panic button has relesed a patch 1.2 for wolfenstein 2 on switch, the difference is impressive!
Don't follow the advice given in the video - turn all of the graphics options off and you get much higher resolution and clarity, with most levels (ie. not exteriors on Earth) keeping to 720p 90% of the time even in portable mode. Definitely turn the nauseating motion blur off.
The motion blur makes the low framerate more bearable.

Warframe actually launched at march 2013 on PC, and then was ported to current generation console in november. Check it out first
The game is quite good, but on the later missions (I have copied my PC profile) the framerate is quite terrible. When you get to later missions, amount of enemies on-screen skyrockets.
I really want to like playing it on the Switch, but playing Warframe at anything less than 60fps is just unplayable to me.
MIRAGE AND KHOM LIVES AGAIN BROTHERS.
i play on xbox s and the framerate is anything but 60 fps when in a pugs, just from the bad ping
For those of you who actually played, is warframe fun?
No. Its not fun
I play it once every few weeks/months and find it fun. But every time there's a 10 gig download :D

Because some people like it and it makes 30 fps smoother.
Motion blur is absolutley sickening in this game. Racing games and mario oddysey/mario kart 8 for example does motion blur really well.

This is the one game I've been waiting for you guys to cover for years. Thank you!

The motion blurr is way to strong and far beyond nice and also look into and test input lag that is very high.
Yeah, but Warframe isn't exactly a twitch shooter.
@@obblivionkr Sorry but I'm not sure what you mean by twitch shooter. Are you talking about the platform twitch or the pace of the game?
Diego Vasquez he’s talking about a reflex shooter aka reaction based shooter. Where a single millisecond can be the difference between winning or losing.
@@diegovasquez6409 Oh, I meant those games where you have to press 'fire' first in order to win. They're usually very PVP-focused. So the input lag matters a ton. But Warframe's more like "Hold down fire and mow down the enemy" kinda game, so input lags would have less impact on the experience than it would on the "twitch shooters".
i was shock by it at first but motion blur is needed, cause you take that off on the switch you get the sluggishness of 30fps.
could you see weather warframe runs better on the new switch model the one with a better chi p for increased battery efficiency
MOTION BLUR MUST GO OFF!
LinusMiningTips yes every time
Nooooooo
I keep it one even on pc. If you play the game the way ints intended. Non stop break neck speeds. Then the action feel much faster and intense. When you take it off you feel like running in molasses. Stop standing and shooting and move you dunce.
@@snakeplissken7194 Nah I hate it even at high speed I don't want my screen being a blurry mess
You can switch off in the options menu
1:00 this line is a bit misleading, Warframe was on PC first and foremost, although its PS4 version was available as a launch title.
I personally hate the motion blur...
The first thing I noticed was that I didn't notice anything. It just looked and played exactly like Warframe. And then I remembered: "Wait a minute, I'm sitting in my offices kitchen with a portable device in my hand!"
the advantage of turning motion blur off is that my eyes don't get aids when i turn the camera
DMC 5 should be ported by panic button
I really hate the input lag on this game on switch...
Brilliant video DF and great stuff guys. Panic Button has done wonders again with porting Warframe onto the Switch and this is definitely the best Free too Play game around and one of the best 3rd Party Titles on the system plus it's better than Destiny aswell.
You don't know what warframe is like until you play ~400 hours
Lol. You're right indeed
You are so right. I personally think it's more like 200 hours tho.
yep, with the 200 hours. Those will get you all of the main storylines along with very strong familiarity with all the gameplay systems like modding and crafting. However, at around those 200 hours, is where you really start enjoy the game since you have all the basics down and then the true grind begins for everything you just want to max or try out.
yep and that is when you would find out this game doesnt run close to 30fps at anytime at the higher end of the games content.
Off, those are rookie numbers, I'm 2600+ hours in (over 5 years) and I'm still learning new stuff in this game
Hope they release a “Pro” version.
I think he meant the Switch
with the tegra x2 at least
I'm sure it's X1X.
@@fernandoperez8430 you are right my rhing DF always points out the smallest thing thats not 100% well done on the xbox one/X watch the red dead redemption comparison on xbox one x and ps4 even though the one on the x is superior they make sure that remember the frame rate drops inbthat one thing and they make big deal about things like that when it comes to the xbox"bias" id say
@@paccacio2935 I get it, but I don't think there is a bias towards xbox and this is why: before the console updates, pretty much every analysis was praising the PS4 because it is marginally better than the XBO, now roles have reversed with the X being better than the pro. And the whole point of these videos is highlighting the differences, as minor as they really are, the point of the video is showing them and explaining them. I see no point in making a big deal out of this, as a viewer you see the difference and think what is worth to you: a few more pixels, taking it on the go or getting it on the console you currently have.
@@fernandoperez8430 just saying i think DF love the ps4 and thats fine but the fact they do makes embshow favoritism towards the ps4 i feels like they are marketing the ps4 but hey what can i do
I never played WF on console, but it makes sense there would be PC style options in the game. I can imagine what happens when a Volt pops his 4 on a huge crowd during a Defense mission.
Holammer hahaha this is comment of the day for me
Not much. The fps is terrible in defense missions.
IT'S TIME BOYS
And for those that aren’t aware you can use motion controls for aiming in conjunction with the sticks. You turn motion controls on in the options.
A12X's GPU is like 3x more powerful than the Tegra x1 yet it doesn't get these types of games to use that power.
Just saying.
Ipad Pro isn't a game machine though, it's more powerful than the Switch but doesn't have the optimization or proper cooling to run demanding games. I remember Bioshock ran horribly on Ipad too.
@@ROCKSTAR3291 It can be optimized enough to run these type of games and yes it doesn't have proper cooling but then again a 7nm 10w Soc doesn't produce much heat anyway not to mention if cooling really is the problem then you don't need to push the GPU to its absolute limit even at 50% GPU usage it would he able to output frames much higher than switch at docked.
Which iPad ran bioshock?
Also Grid Autosport 1.2.4 is already running smoothly on iPhone X so the demanding pc ports don't really make phones let alone tablets have cooling issues and IPhone X A11 soc is more powerful than Tegra x1 docked.. Just imagine what a 3x more powerful GPU than that can do with a bigger surface area and battery to avoid throttling for longer periods of time while also being 7nm instead of 10nm of A11.
IPad Pro isn't a gaming machine yes but it's still the best hand held gaming device while not being marked as a gaming device
Touch controls is a problem that can be solved as these devices do support external controllers.
@@OrangeRock it cant be 10w soc like 3 watts at most
@@mohsenessa1195
A11 is 5w..
And AX series always uses much more power than A series.
I read it somewhere that A12X has 10w TDP
@@OrangeRock it's not just about raw numbers though.
Astonishing... how you can be so knowledgable about graphics and still so freaking wrong about motion blur. Also great video.
Because the human eye needs motion blur to be satisfied with what it sees? _Especially_ at lower frame rates? The game looks less blurry with it off, but it looks way more jittery as a result and gives a false impression of unresponsiveness.
@@nameless-user Human eye needs frames my friend. If you like it, be my guest. I, myself, have quit playing Horizon Zero Dawn when they patched motion blur in with no option to switch it off. My brain does not tollerate the blurriness and it makes me sick. So I just object to the theorie that it's objectively better to have it, because it's not.
Switch port games like this make me wish Nintendo debuted the Switch based on Tegra X2.
It's still amazing seeing what the current one can do tho.
A 'miracle' you say? How about a vendor that actually worked to optimize their product to run as best as possible on existing hardware. A novel idea to be sure... 🤔
Ah yes because we're not gonna take into account the actual size of the switch and that it's only 300 dollars, if you want a more powerful handheld console for the same price wait a few years technology ain't there yet the switch is just fine and mobile hardware will only get better and cheaper
Warframe does look good on low end rigs but damn, it looks nice on the Switch and I must say that is VERY impressive.
0:12 "foundry" hehe
Been waiting on this video since this game was released!
Is motion blur realistic? Yes, but no, without you are actually moving, in game motion blur cause us fell uncomfortable is the same logic as VR
You didn't analyse massive fights ... yesterday on everest mission (on earth) I've seen quite important framerate drops. Fights against Titans on Eidolon also afraid me on this point ...
Release the Snyder Cut
Game Buffet Snyder cut of what?
Poever JL
That's my boy!!
yikes
How did I get all the way over here?
@16:09 I hope you guys (DF) realize how impactful these review videos are. "Oh no, they found that issue!" "Oh no, WE didn't find that issue!" "Quick, someone overnight that hardware setup *now*"
Anyone new to warframe on switch DISABLE MOTION BLUR! The game looks and plays so....much better!
Don't listen to digital Foundry when it comes to motion blur with this game this dude here is a total Fanboy of motion blur lol Yes, DF are professionals but I've been gaming 22 yrs and Motion blur for Nintendo switch is bad and kills performance and makes you want to puke. I don't know how they think motion blur is great in this game or great at all. Motion is only viable in some games because only few devs can implement it with going overboard.
I'm thinking they didn't actually get to the fast movement parts where you're speeding around with volt and bulletjumping everywhere. This is a huge problem for this game when people try to do benchmarks on this game, too. They only play the first few maps, but anyone who has even played 20 hours knows the game is way more hectic than a few grineer on a few corridors.
Isn't the whole idea of motion blur to make it *less* likely to make you nauseous?
