Been buying the heavier line thinking I was doing better with the thicker lines. What you described made so much sense. I ordered through you connection so hope you get a kick-back. Thx for the video
Because of your video, I figured a way to tackle a property that I just got where I thought I may need to rent a ride on mower lolol Thanks for the video 🙏🏾
i tried .095 string and, at your suggestion, went back to .080 and found it much more efficient and sensible for my trimmer. I just take it easy around fences and hard structures. Thanks
Awesome Mark! Glad it is working out. I mean in all honesty, we should be taking it easy on hard structures and fences anyways so many the .080 line keeps us a bit more honest at it lol.
I had 5 acres of land down around Jasper Texas with an electrical right-of-way going through the middle of it. Man I wish I'd a thought of what you just did! That thing cut through that grass like a knife through butter. Thanks so much for this video
I don't think I have seen every V-Log you have put out for us, but the ones I have seen are very helpful. Especially the mower blades video. Thanks Dan.
All your weed eating videos are top notch! I've learned so many things from them. Keep up the good work.... your becoming one of my favorite youtubers.
Thick line, by itself, does not stress the machine unless the line is tapped out long. But you are correct, thin line is more efficient UNLESS the material is dense and causes excessive wrapping, in which case I run the line shorter and/or step up to a large diameter
Dan, another great video! I can't wear shorts with trimming as I get dirt and small rocks thrown at my shins. Maybe I am doing something wrong, who knows? Love how you walk us through your thought process. I know it takes time to explain what, and why you are doing it, but this helps immensely!

One bit me a few years ago weed eating blackberry Vines. I thought it was the thorns at first. I seen one hole that was bleeding. Make a long story short after I finished I walked inside and seen two holes about .5 to 1 inc wide. I had Jesus looking over me. About an hour later emts took me the hospital. Stayed a few nights and went home. A month later my heart was racing. Called emt. They could not get a BP. It was 0 out. My heart was 180 per minute. They asked if I took anything. I was like wow, really? I was about 25 miles out from the house before the nitro took hold. Again long story short. Dr said it's probably a side effect from the Anti-Venom and the venom that went in me a month prior. So if you get bit by a rattlesnake and you go to the ER. You will have issues a month after.
Thank you Rick. It really is fun. I get to make ugly look good and share it with the world. Now if there was something I could do with my ugly face I would be thrilled!!
Judging by how old that Honda looks you might want to do a leakdown test on the motor and make sure it's still good before you dive into the carb. I work on this stuff for a living by the way
i cant remember the name of it i used to get it in FLA. it was the best stuff i ever used it was triangle shaped it was 100 and it lasted really long id do a hole yard n only bump it 3 times i couldent believe it ill have to see if i could find it again .
Hey dan I had a lawn to mow and it was wet and overgrown and I said what dan would do. So I tryout your I side shoot first and put the clipping in the middle and Mulch up the clipping
My Troybilt mower did not want to start several years ago I cleaned the carb with cleaner every since it starts right up on the first pull even after sitting all winter.
That is nice for a city area, but where I live my choice is the John Deere tractor with the brush hog attached and then after sweeping up the area, using my zero turn mower over it. That mower was not designed for that type of work, but you are doing a nice job with that mower, and weed trimmer combination considering how badly that area was grown up.
I would recommend looking around for a used one first if you are not going to be using it regularly. I got mine new with the first tractor I purchased.
i have a husqavrna 722fe 7 1/2 hp kubota kohler engine that runs 3600 rpms wich i use for as a bush hog for same hight of grass and no issues going through with 2wd on it
I would just trim around the outside, like you did, then just use the mower. You may have to put the height up a bit, then go over it again at a lower height. Beats doing all that trimmer stuff first.
At the beginning of the video you mentioned snakes, is it dangerous to walk backwards with the weed eater through the tall grass or do things like snakes take off because of the noise?

I'm still looking for ways to eliminate weedwacking, excess turns, enclosed areas, and trash trees like two pecan trees that drop limbs every day which I have to pick up and dispose of. hey Dan got a brand new Briggs & Stratton 1st time starting it ever.. it's blowing oil out of the exhaust. oil is not over filled. any idea what's wrong? thanx man.

Such a sweet old Honda mower! Those things are hard to find these days.
Thinking about going into lawn care on the side and your videos are invaluable. Keep up the great work!

The random dude R, I agree. If the lawn is badly overgrown, you can always make it better looking next week. The first week will be messy.
Either you have shrunk or that grass is tall! You’re a great teacher. 😎.

Hi Dan, thanks a lot for these lessons, God bless you.. Just a quick question - what was your swath with fs100 on 9:40, it seems very large..?

oh you mean my reach... heck if I know... hard to say cause it curves but probably 8 feet from left to right
At the beginning of the video you mentioned snakes, is it dangerous to walk backwards with the weed eater through the tall grass or do things like snakes take off because of the noise?
