I don't know how, but I dreamt this playing last night and just remebered "symphony n°5" the next morning. Looked for it and this was what I heard on my dream. Double pleasure now ;)

This recording is absolutely superlative. The pride is evident in every note played, and the brass is really high in the mix, which is wonderful!

I will aways be grateful to an old parish priest who played this piece to my pupils 40 years ago. It is still my all-time favourite

My favourite Tchaikovsky symphony. I have a recording by the Russian Orchestra from a box set collection of the entire Tchaikovsky symphonies. This symphony is something special and from a dark dismal opening which seems to suggest that only misery and suffering is the key to this symphony's message we then are presented with the inspirational and hopeful last movement which seems to promise that all will be well in the end if we do not give up. This particular recording of the symphony is extremely good and ranks highly alongside the vinyl recording I have. Many many thanks for posting this. Who needs to talk about Beethoven when you have Tchaikovsky. Nothing against the great master but Tchaikovsky's works are in the same class- truly stupendous!!

This is an excellent performance. Yet Tchaikovsky and Mravinsky is by far my favourite combination :)

Its interesting Edmonton to what we like musically. I found this to be dreadful. Missed notes galore and just not recognizable in parts. Just an opinion. Cheers.

Great performance and audio mix. :) I like the red haired woman violinist.

This is a wonderful performance. However, the red haired woman "violinist" is sitting in the viola section. That leads me to think that she plays viola, unless this orchestra is set up in some kind of wacky way that I have never seen before, in which case please excuse me.

Emma Axelson She's actually playing a viola. You can recognize it because its size. It is quite bigger than a violin.

Oh! :) I just know what I like in music. Thanks for the explanation of the viola, although I'm sure I'll forget the difference. However, I do recognize and appreciate lovely ladies with or without a viola. :)

Easy Aspi Typical back biting "artistes." Their lives are so sheltered and fearful of mistakes that they love to jump on someone who makes a mistake.
Glad I'm in a business comprised of normal people. Music is a great diversion and hobby. But it is so full of assholes that I'm glad I'm not in in.
