Really enjoyed your video. Thanks for not editing things out to make it look easier and showing your frustrating moments and surprises along the way. Enjoyable to see someone do things without all the most fancy of set ups and things that make it all too easy.
JT you took me back to 1981 working at a Pontiac/GMC dealship,I did a few of those, replaced the frame on a 81 but I mostly did the painting and interior work but because of the fumes I had to give it up,I just retired after 20 years at a candy factory.
I have an old Ranger that needs that new box side treatment....but I haven't been able to find a box side with the opening for the auxiliary fuel tank. Two fuel doors on the drivers side. Looks like quality sheet metal you got there!
I had to watch this video when it popped up in my recommended videos. I recently did the same thing to a 67 step side I scavenged for a wall hanger. Amazingly nothing has changed about the process from yours to mine-it came off the same as yours did I had to fight 1 bolt and cut a few welds along the bed and bedside seam and she dropped right off.
While your in there you might as well Line-X the bottoms of the Wheel tubs and Floor. btw i'm torn! I want too put that rear cab trim on my truck. But wouldn't be Correct. if it never came with it. I can't find any part on that back cab where it had the Rivets... Not even filled in.
New sub. I have a 75 square body that my dad bought new. What brand body panel do you recommend. I don't want to fight to get the new pne on. Thank you.
Well, that’s a tough call. Mine came from classic Chevy parts, a branch of Elkers automotive. It seemed to be a good fit, good weight, ect. LMC has a great selection also, but was more $ than mine. Not sure if the quality is better but LMC has been around for years…
Im having a difficult time getting the tailgate and the end of the bedside to line up and not have a huge hideous gap did you have this issue and if so whatd you do to fix it?

@@jtsbarnngrill6873 ok! 👍 Thanks 💯! I will check it out I am about to start on a 1985 Chevy Silverado. It that was my dad's truck. he sold it to a guy about 20 yrs ago. I just bought it back 2wks ago. It was parked in a guys back yard growed up in the weeds for close to 6 or 8yrs. I was about 12 when he got it. I grew up driving it on the farm and was the truck I took my driver's test in. My son and I are going to try restore it to its former glory I hope !! 😬
What on earth was that? The box side bolts on? Why do I always have to drill spot welds, cut, torch, ...? Not fair !:( No wonder all the Chevy guys are mostly happy. Anyway, that's pretty sweet. :)

Can't believe you do this by yourself. Thanks for posting JT

I'm not a Chevy guy but I do like the way they built their boxes
The old Chevy is looking good can't wait till it's painted
Nice old truck. Cheaper than a new one. Thanks for the videos.
Better than a new one also.
I'm amazed at Fluffy, that is the most un cat like cat I've seen. He's cool.
Nice work bro, can't wait to see the sassy Massey's out working!
That's a good video and good luck on your planting

It’s nice that GM made these fairly easy to change!
Good & impressive performance, JT 🙂
It looks like Farrah approves. :-) Thanks for sharing!!! (Yeah, I had that self-same poster.)

I always say… if it’s your truck might as well make it the way you’d like it. Trim can always be removed 😉
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 true. i'll have to see honestly the dealership is still in business i was going to ask and see if they had any Microfishe films.
Liked your video. I would like to know where you got the bed panel. It looks like it went back together fairly easy.
I need both sides for my 75
I got them from a websight called classic Chevy parts
those bedsides are 100x better than the ones I’m installing 😭
Oh boy! This one seemed to be good quality

Mine was not bad. Can the hinges and striker/latch be shimmed or adjusted?
@jtsbarnngrill6873 hardly ive messed with them both like crazy still a decent gap at the top not bad at the bottom
Looks good so far. You ever been to any of the 4x4 Jamboree's? It would make a neat one to take to one of the shows.
I have not, those look like a lot of fun though!
