Madame Web Movie Description:
Cassandra Webb is a New York City paramedic who starts to show signs of clairvoyance. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she must protect three young women from a mysterious adversary who wants them dead.
Madame Web is a 2024 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Produced by Columbia Pictures and Di Bonaventura Pictures in association with Marvel Entertainment and TSG Entertainment, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is the fourth film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU). Directed by S. J. Clarkson from a screenplay she co-wrote with Claire Parker and the writing team of Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, it stars Dakota Johnson in the title role, alongside Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O'Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott. In the film, the origin story of Cassie Webb (Johnson) is explored as she confronts her past while trying to save three young women (Sweeney, Merced, O'Connor) from Ezekiel Sims (Rahim), who wants to kill them before they become Spider-Women in the future and kill him.
Sony began development on a Madame Web film for its shared universe by September 2019, with Sazama and Sharpless writing the script. Clarkson joined as director in May 2020, in her feature film directorial debut, and Johnson was cast in early 2022. Additional castings, particularly for the Spider-Women characters, took place in the following months. Filming began in mid-July 2022 and wrapped before the end of the year, occurring throughout Massachusetts, including Boston, and in New York City and Mexico. Clarkson and Parker's involvement as writers was revealed in November 2023. Johan Söderqvist, a frequent collaborator of Clarkson's, composed the film's score.
Madame Web premiered at the Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, Los Angeles, on February 12, 2024, and was released in the United States on February 14. The film was panned by critics and underperformed at the box office, grossing over $100 million worldwide against a production budget of $80-100 million.

Dakota Johnson has multiple times on record stated that this movie was bad. That woman didn't even try to hide it like she talked about how she don't talk in the cast group chat, the film was bad, and she also though this was an actual marvel film at first but then found out it was Sony.

I actually saw it in theaters opening night. Not even 5 minutes in, I knew I was in for something special. By time the credits started, I think I actually lost brain cells just by the last 20 minutes alone.
Apparently, the original plot for this movie had more of a terminator vibe. The villain traveled back in time to kill Spider-Man’s mom to prevent him from being born. Not saying it will make the movie better, but it would be interesting if villain was actually part of the Inheritors. For those that don’t know they are a clan of vampires that travel the Multiverse killing spider people. They are no joke. They’ve taken out a Spider-Man that had cosmic level powers. Peter fought one and had what he described as the worst beating imaginable.
41:46 By the by, the woman singing in the end credits is Dolores O'Riordan, the lead singer of the Cranberries. A super hot band in the 90's . The reason she sounds "strange" is because she is Irish and was doing "sean-nos" style, hence the yodel-like performance. She sadly passed away back in 2018, but her music is worth looking into.
So it was broken down by New Rockstars that the main villains lines were cut after shooting and they had him read in new lines and then put it all in, in post. That us why during some scenes the lip sync is off, or even in some scenes in mouth isn't even moving.

Which version of Movie 43? There's the US version where the wrapper around all of the skits is a group of kids trying to search for some "banned" movie on the internet, with the skits appearing as random clips that they find online along the way. And there's the international version where the wrapper around all of the skits is a struggling writer trying to pitch his latest movie idea to a Hollywood producer, with the skits used as cutaways to show pieces of the movie as he pitches them. Ignore the shared material of the skits and it's effectively two entirely different movies. They went out of their way to put together two different casts on two different sets to create two completely separate ways of tying the same bunch of random unrelated skits together.
Personally, I think the international version was good and and the US version was annoying. (Too bad I only own a copy of the US version. It's the only version that was available on DVD here in the US. I found somewhere to watch the other version once but I forget where. To own a copy of it I'd need to get the Bluray, apparently. And I never bought a Bluray player. Never saw a need to switch over from DVDs.)
Hm, strange... Wikipedia describes the film pitch version as the main / original version and it describes the internet kids version as the international alternate cut. Either way though, random chatter in other search results seems to have a lot of people complaining that they can only ever find the internet kids version of it though. The film pitch version seems to be elusive for most people.

I don’t have any hopes for Kraven whatsoever. Especially after this dumpster fire of a movie.
I’m honestly hoping that Sony will let Marvel integrate the characters that Sony has the rights to into the MCU after their Spider-Man-adjacent universe/series fails. Like, outside of Venom, the average moviegoers never knew about characters like Morbius, Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter to begin with until Sony decided to make movies about them.

It's insane movies like this still get made nowadays, let alone have a theatrical release. Madame Web is what I would describe as a 'straight to DVD' type of movie.

The absolute HUBRIS of this movie and Sony to have those teases of the costumes, and to cheekily tell us “isn’t the future great? Don’t you WANT more of this? We know you do, come back next time!” What absolute hubris. What incredible head up your ass syndrome. Disney has made some bombs recently too, but Sony is even more of a joke because they’re not learning a damn thing why their efforts besides Venom keep failing and why Disney and MCU DID make it work for as long as it did and still have a chance to come back. This is just insulting and hysterical.
Hell, even Venom is on the cusp of being bad. I think the fact that Tom Hardy is Eddie Brock is quite possibly the only reason the movies make a profit. That's at least the reason why I care enough to watch them tbh. With that being said, the recent trailer for 'Venom The Last Dance' doesn't have me hyped whatsoever and I may not even go watch it in theaters, sadly.

Bro I've tried to watch this movie 3 times already and still can't make it to the end without giving up. It's just laughably bad.
No lie. The worst movie I ever saw was "Skyline" from 2010. At the time there were 2 alien scifi's in theaters that season and this was way worse of a selection. I've never gotten up during a movie in the theaters and screamed "WTF" out loud.

Also, the ending reminded me of the movie The Eye with Jessica Alba, where she is blind, gets eyesight, and starts to see premonitions for a terrible event to happen and tries to figure out how to prevent it. It's a pretty decent movie! You should check it out! :)

The word on the streets of Hollywood is that Sony Studios was in danger of losing the ownership rights of Spider-Man to Marvel Studios, again. So, Sony greenlighted this trash movie for the purpose of keeping the rights of Spider-Man. But, I feel sorry for the female director of this movie. Her career in Hollywood might be over before it ever begins. The writing of this "movie" is so bad. ✍️ The actors knew this as well. That's why their performances are so terrible.
