    1. Read positive birth stories.
    2. Watch positive birthing videos.
    3. Positive birth pictures.
    4. Listen to positive affirmations (pre labour and during labour)
    5. Place positive affirmations' cards in your home

O.M.G. Just like you said in your video, this has COMPLETELY changed my mind about having a baby. I have wanted one SO bad. But was SO TERRIFIED of the pain. That was the ONLY thing keeping me back. But now after watching this, I am so confident that I can do this. All I can say is THANK YOU. I am definitely going to look more into all of these techniques. Because I could never want anything more than to be a mom to my husband's baby. THANK YOU!❤❤❤

Since researching and finding hypnobirth, I feel so much more excited and happy for giving birth! Thanks for the awesome videos! It's very self empowering when you tell a women that she can do this, it doesn't have to be scary and to believe and trust in her body!

@@carlaventura1056 I've had two babies now, both births unmedicated :) I did follow all of Siobhán's Tipps and did the relaxation exercises from Catherine Graves' book on hypnobirthing. I'd say the breathing exercises are by far the most important part. I combined them with the visualisation of an opening rose and blowing away petals. Without the breathing, I would have panicked during my first birth, for sure. It wasn't cake (the second birth was super calm and easy in comparison), but the exercises got me through it. Oh, and I had two waterbirths and no tearing, even though my first boy weighed 4.2 kg! So I'm definitely and advocate of hypnobirthing :)

I agree, fear is a vicious cycle. Ironically I had no expectations with my first pregnancy, then I was hospitalized and induced at 39 weeks, due to preeclampsia, basically strapped to a bed for 48 hours, with little to no progress, finally got the epidural, then dilated and quickly delivered the baby, but I felt completely stripped of my power. I feel like it's something that happened to me, not something I did. This time around, nearing on 40 weeks I'm having massive anxiety. I felt ok for the first part of this second pregnancy, but confidence is running low. I am scared of being induced again, this time for being past due. Ugh! And I so agree about it being cultural! The medical world has stripped us of knowledge and knowledge is power. I must say though being followed by a midwife this time around hasn't been the confidence booster I'd hoped it would be. I naturally have high anxiety and so this fear of the unknown is quite overwhelming. Sorry long rant. 😂

Carla Ventura I am now a mama to a 8 month old baby girl 🥰 taking the positive birth company’s course was honestly the best thing I have ever done. I had a magical home water birth, I laboured whilst using the Freya app to help me remember my breathing and ended up only having a little gas and air whilst pushing. I honestly couldn’t recommend the course more as it has honestly been life changing 😍 I was so excited to give birth and to go into labour that it made the whole of my labour calm and peaceful and I honestly put that down to the course and just learning more about the whole birth process ☺️

I had a consultant from the hospital visit our antenatal clinic and she advised all the mothers there to listen to the midwife and push when we are told to push, listen to the doctors or else the baby can have serious brain damage coming out of the womb as their head is coming out. - this is the mentality of the hospitals we are visiting for birth.. "do as you are told, or else..... (insert scary story)". I dont know why they do this to women who are already vulnerable to inject guilt and fear in bringing your own baby into the world.
The lecture they gave us was so long, I could not sit down any longer as my tail bone began having pressure.. I stood up and felt better and the midwife insisted that I should be sitting NOT STANDING in her clinic. I had to really speak up while she was forcing me to sit... ladies.. it is your body. You are in control of your body.

Siobhan says in another video of hers that giving birth is just like going to the toilet and doing a massive poo. You should ask yourself, do I usually feel scared beforehand whenever I need to sit down on the toilet to let go of a big poo? If the answer is no, then you shouldn't need to feel scared about giving birth either. If going to the toilet to let go of a poo is usually a pleasant feeling for you, then I trust that giving birth should be no different. You will feel tense beforehand, but by releasing that tension when you give birth to the baby you will come out of it at the other end feeling relaxed and relieved again, just as you would when you've finished being on the toilet after you've let go of a big poo. If the poo didn't hurt your anul sphincter when it came out of your bowels, in much the same way the baby isn't designed to hurt you when you release it from your womb.

I find one born very informative. It has helped me establish the kind of birth i want to have. It's good to see how the system works and what to avoid... I've seen some very positive water births on that show.

Yes! There was one water birth in particular, which sticks out to me. It was the first time I saw a birth that made me cry because it seemed genuinely beautiful.
Sure, a lot of One Born Every Minute is dramatised but some of it was super helpful to me

Is it possible to have an epidural if not in hospital? I live in the UK …am not currently pregnant but as someone who has had a lifelong fear , I’m curious about possibilities and looking to rewire my mind to see things from a more helpful, empowering perspective.
I like the the idea of having an element of control of your environment and what to surround yourself with.
Thank you for everything you are doing to empower and reassure and re-set the cultural narrative. You rock ! ❤

I was quite calm when I noticed that contractions were getting more intense. Then I felt a lot of pain every time the midwife checked my cervix and got really tense. Since then everything got worse. I was tense and suffering, with no support from the midwife. Bad memories.
I am now pregnant with my second and wondering if I can reject that cervical check or if there are (external) less painful alternatives...

Hey, I’m 34 weeks pregnant! I didn’t watch any videos or even listen to any stories before I cave birth to my first one and I think that was the right thing to do. I do however wish that I had information about what to do during the labour (I probably would’ve even stayed at home instead of going to the hospital) and how to recover better. I do hope your birth goes well! 🙂
