Are you kidding? Kermit is a puppet. It’s a character puppet voiced and operated by Jim Henson. It’s not a real frog dude. I don’t really know where to start. I guess I’d tell you to look up what real frogs look like. They live, breath, eat and reproduce. This puppet called Kermit can’t do any of that. Don’t you realize that puppeteers are operating these things? Can’t you see that it’s made out of fabric? A real frog has a hydrated skin for its amphibious nature. Do yourself a favor and look up and compare real frogs to Kermit. Only then will you realize that it’s ridiculous to think that Kermit is a real frog.

I agree that Jim's passing was much too early, but this little section from his funeral is really awesome to watch: th-cam.com/video/KSE1Mtnnm4Y/w-d-xo.html
It showcases some of the best songs being sung by the original Muppet performers. It's about 15 minutes long. You can also find the entire funeral on here somewhere, a little over 2 hours long.
Some good parts are at 6:54 (watch what they do to Frank Oz) and 10:07 (Nice and fun bouncy tune from Fraggle Rock). But my favorite one is at 13:00 "If Just One Person". Really well written and performed song that any Muppet fan will love (On par with "The Rainbow Connection", if you ask me).
It's nice the way they do the fun songs in between the touching or sad songs to keep the spirits high. I wish I could have been there. :(
By the way, a lot of people forgot that Sammy Davis Junior died on the same day.

I think what they mean by "letting himself die" is that while the acute cause of death was pneumonia, the poor guy worked himself to death and that was the more general reason why the pneumonia killed him. He had neglected getting medical help until it was too late. One of Henson's fears was of dying before he got all of his ideas out into the world, which is why he worked so hard and it sadly backfired
Frank Oz had said that Henson was working overtime hammering out a contract with Disney at that time (Jim wanted to focus on the creative side of the Muppets and let a bigger company handle the business stuff) and Disney made the experience so stressful that it contributed to his decline

So odd how you can still separate puppet from actor even when you are watching the actor talk and move the puppet

A testament to Jim’s skill and talent...Kermit talks and I look solely at him. I try and look at Jim and I see his mouth moving but that’s Kermit talking. It’s like Jim’s the puppet and Kermit’s real.

I love the excitement on Arsenio's face when he asks if he can talk to Kermit and Rowlf. He looks like a giddy little kid and it's so sweet.

Watching Jim Henson Talk in Kermit's voice or Rowlf makes me flash back to a kid . Love the muppet show. RIP Jim Henson. 😢😢😢😢

Rowlf was at the centre of all my favourite Muppets scenes. 'The Cat Came Back' being his greatest moment. God bless you Jim, for all the truly wonderful memories. And cheers to the whole Henson workshop.

This is fascinating. Jim really brought Kermit alive! Even when the camera shows the both of them, you need to take a second look to make sure Jim's really talking, lol.

I've got soooo much love and respect for this guy... He has changed so many lives just by being himself (and NOT at the same time). I think they should have sent his characters in that 'capsule from humans to aliens' as he represents THE VERY BEST in our mankind.

When Arsenio put Kermit on the spot with the Miss Piggy questions it sure looked like Levar was not having it. There are some lines you don't cross. #TeamPBS

Man I was thinking the same thing!!! Dude, really? Who in their right mind brings on Jim Henson and makes it awkward by asking sexual questions? I was cringing at that

I doubt it was that big of a deal, but if I was in Arsenio's shoes, I would have talked to Henson about that whole thing beforehand. Of course, esp. on national tv, knowing how I am, that's prob. one of the very last things that would be on my mind...

Well, it was The Arsenio Hall Show--one would assume Henson knew what he was getting into.
