I met Chris Farley in a deli. He was eating a bowl of soup in a booth with a friend, laughing and talking, just a regular dude. Man. I miss Chris so damn much. Can you IMAGINE ALL of the movies we could have enjoyed with him in? Can you imagine him getting clean? And inspiring those of us that looked up to him? Man. I wish I could see it.
I often like to imagine what that dimension is like.... Farley became a mega success after Shrek and switched to drama after he got clean and lean. He put on enough muscle that Marvel became interested in him to play Hawkeye. Farley stole the show in Thor. It forced them to make Thor more like Ragnorok from the beginning. He and Thor become good buddies and have that Spade/Farley chemistry. Farley became just as big a mega star as Robert Downey Jr. When Thanos snaps, everyone in the world watches Chris Farley turn to dust and they realize how different the world could have been without him. It ushers in an era of "Post snap" interpersonal peace and cooperation. Chris Farley perfectly portrays the self conscious side of Hawkeye surrounded by super humans. After Vision takes him out effortlessly in Civil War he really begins to wonder if he is good enough to be an Avenger. The Hawkeye movie was hilariously self aware, had a TON of heart, made us REALLY care about his family and PERFECTLY set up his daughter to take the spot light in the next phase. Farely is Tony's snarky suit voice after that and Stark becomes more of the Nick Fury role of the newer Avengers, like Hawkeye's daughter (that Tony feels responsible for just like Spider-man). Tony becomes the moral backbone of all people. The father figure for many of the younger characters. The new iron man should be the kid from Iron Man 3. So you've got Iron man all grown up and chasing after the next generation on Avengers. (Kept the MCU afloat for the next ten years). Bill Cosby isn't a rapist in that dimension where Farley was Shrek. Bush Sr. won a second term so Clinton wasn't able to sell out our country to China. Back when they actually memorialized their lines and didn't notice the cameras & only used the cue cards as a guide in case they forgot a line!! True SNL talent back then!!
That really looked like it had to hurt. Chris sort of looked like he had been covering his head as it fell. Those platters sure shattered. You know he had to have bruises, aches and pains after that.
Television was great in this era. Not just SNL also the sitcoms, late night shows, awards events, wrestling, sports, and EVEN commercials. I’ll never understand why it can’t still be like this!
you're right it's a scenario with characters that have been in many plays and works, long ago in Neopolitan commedia dell'arte, Shakespeare and more recently in America in vaudevillian Jewish slapstick a la Three Stooges. Farley plays Arlecchino the servant with two masters, Keaton is the Pantalone greedy and needy, and Sandler is the il Dottore the obstacle to lovers and comic foil to Pantalone. And of course ancient Greek and Romans also had these characters and genres
I saw a different version of this where Chris Farley was wearing a wig for some reason & it kept falling off. Farley, Adam Sandler & Michael Keaton all kept breaking character by laughing about it & it was hilarious.
That was at dress rehearsal. I think they showed it on the "Best of Chris Farley" compilation. But this is the actual sketch from the live show. I remember it like this, no Mandela effect.
I love Chris Farley!! He was my childhood hero I was in 5th grade when he died and I cried like a baby he meant so much to me. Still does he will always be the funniest person to ever walk this earth. Michael Keaton goes off at some point in just about every single thing I’ve ever seen him in.😂😂 this fuckin sketch is hilarious
Same. I had a huge crush on Adam Sandler for years when I was younger.. however I used to tell people that I would have married Chris because I felt so bad for him. As someone who has been over weight and not the best looking chick around, I related so much to Chris. I remember watching TV and my mom came in from running errands. She told me she had bad news, she heard a celebrity had died on the radio. Someone I cared for. My heart sank because I thought it was Adam, when she told me it was Farley it broke my heart. I put a picture of him up in my room as a tribute to him. One day I want to get a tattoo in his honor, I just have to create a good one.
That's what's cool about dress rehearsal : they can throw a bad pointless wig on Farley, that keeps nearly falling off and it makes the sketch funnier.
@@erickenny82 : He was not using cocaine here. If he had been he would have been sweating profusely. His shirt and hair would have been drenched. There are some videos of him out there where that was the case. Very sad to watch. None of them were SNL or movie appearances.
I once met Chris Farley at a Subway station. Had too double take as I walked past him, lots of people had noticed but I got too say "I love you" ,and he said "I love you" mimicingly. It was amazing.
Why THIS sketch out of all sketches wasn’t stretched into a full length feature is truly a travesty. One of the most hilarious, well acted, and truly satisfying snl skits of all time.
I have heard in interviews with Spade and Sandler that Chris was often quite angry, volital, and at times violent. He could become enraged by what seemed to be minor slights, and even made threats about harming people. This must have been isolated to his private life, as this story shows a side of him that was warm and wanting of acceptance. He was an absolutely brilliant comedian.
This reminds me of my grandma with Alziemers and how she would do crazy shit like that then call my aunt and uncle and say I was stealing and attacking her but she was giving all her money to right wing propaganda mail and was never attacked.
"Hi Grandma, how you doin'"? "Fine, just trying to maintain a meditative zen-like state, in attempt to prepare to avoid hilarious uncontrollable laughter when Farley comes out"!
The way his whole body jerks with every one of Keaton's slaps, and the way he gets back up from the ground with such speed. Nobody did physical comedy like Farley

Golden Girls. I miss that show.
Sophia was awesome.
Wow
I can watch anything with Chris Farley and still get a bellyache laugh over and over again😂😂
Damn Chris Farley had a lot of energy for a big guy! All those scenes executed by him what a genius!
Chris Farley was always my favorite. I've laughed until my face was purple and I was crying at a lot of his skits.
Once I saw that shelf I knew Farley was going to light up the sketch.
The big shnozes.
Back when SNL was funny.
Rest in paradise, Chris Farley. You are deeply missed ❤️
"You have to listen to me if you're gonna get the one I want"!
Leaves me in tears
This feels like I'm watching a play.
Hence the name, "Saturday Night LIVE", Treetop with no Fruit!
John Smith I feel like this could be sarcasm
Its cuz these people are really good actors/entertainers
you're right it's a scenario with characters that have been in many plays and works, long ago in Neopolitan commedia dell'arte, Shakespeare and more recently in America in vaudevillian Jewish slapstick a la Three Stooges. Farley plays Arlecchino the servant with two masters, Keaton is the Pantalone greedy and needy, and Sandler is the il Dottore the obstacle to lovers and comic foil to Pantalone. And of course ancient Greek and Romans also had these characters and genres
Ty Nao youtube needs more comments like these
I saw a different version of this where Chris Farley was wearing a wig for some reason & it kept falling off. Farley, Adam Sandler & Michael Keaton all kept breaking character by laughing about it & it was hilarious.
I saw that one too. It was so funny.
Me too. I was expecting that to happen.
YES, I kept expecting a wig to fall off but noticed it looked too much like his real hair..Mandela effect?!
@@edchowder6231 yup. Might have to add it to the Mandela Effect. Or did they do this skit multiple times?
That was at dress rehearsal. I think they showed it on the "Best of Chris Farley" compilation. But this is the actual sketch from the live show. I remember it like this, no Mandela effect.
Adam Sandler's new comedy routine on Netflix has a great memoriam to Chris Farley in it. Soo good !!
The dress rehearsal version of this sketch was better. Farley had on a bad wig, and it kept falling off. The audience was howling...So was I
A Person that’s awesome you were there
@@dalrolaalorlad6521 No, I wasn't. I was like 8 years old back then. The dress rehearsal version is on the best of Chris Farley DVD from years ago.
Oh! I need to take a look at that.
Dress rehearsal version is 10 times funnier if you can imagine such a thing.
That's what's cool about dress rehearsal : they can throw a bad pointless wig on Farley, that keeps nearly falling off and it makes the sketch funnier.
Kinda wished Farley would've hit him back
A guy that big and mobile would've brought the thunder. 😄
Y’know he was that mobile because of the Blow..
It’s a sketch
Ppl can bully psychologically
@@erickenny82 : He was not using cocaine here. If he had been he would have been sweating profusely. His shirt and hair would have been drenched. There are some videos of him out there where that was the case. Very sad to watch. None of them were SNL or movie appearances.
every instant that chris farley was on camera was pure brilliance.... such a shame.
Too much, too fast
I once met Chris Farley at a Subway station. Had too double take as I walked past him, lots of people had noticed but I got too say "I love you" ,and he said "I love you" mimicingly. It was amazing.
Now I want that biiig pla-ta on the top shelf
(My favorite line in the skit)
Lol. This is the same sketch where Farley’s wig kept coming off in the rehearsal version.
Early to mid 90s SNL cast was like the early to mid 90s Chicago Bulls lineup. Unbeatable.
Early 90s is great but I think the Late 80s cast is the best of them all.
Anything potentially collapsible in a Chris Farley sketch is like Chekov's gun.
Damn, that stunt work delivery by Farley and Keaton was on point!
Why THIS sketch out of all sketches wasn’t stretched into a full length feature is truly a travesty. One of the most hilarious, well acted, and truly satisfying snl skits of all time.
Anyone else notice the two handfuls Keaton got to start the bit? 😂
Work From Your Laptop it looked like he groped grandma at the very end too.
@5:40 Adam Sandler breaks character and laughs lol. Chris was a genius.
5:26 you can hear the real impact of Keaton’s backhand punch 😮 Farley took it like a champ 😂
Ouch!
5:25 you can hear Keaton's knuckles hit Farley's forehead.
Sandler plays a woman soo funny!! Farley great as always and Keaton juz classic 🤣
There is now way I could’ve kept a straight face with Chris and Adam !
Who's still laughing in 2020?
Sunday, April 5th 1:30PM 2020
Yes omg......
3:13 5:01 definitely
I'm trying..... in a van down by the river
As this isn't a skit revolving around pop culture/politics it's not like the humor is going to "expire"
@5:53 The way he's mean mugging her and says "WHAT JUICE?!" LMAO 🤣
This reminds me of my grandma with Alziemers and how she would do crazy shit like that then call my aunt and uncle and say I was stealing and attacking her but she was giving all her money to right wing propaganda mail and was never attacked.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
She got you orange juice when you were sick! YOU WERE YELLING AT HER!!!
I love how in every Chris Farley and Adam Sandler skit that, at least several times, A.S. breaks character to suppress a major crack-up 🤣
"Hi Grandma, how you doin'"? "Fine, just trying to maintain a meditative zen-like state, in attempt to prepare to avoid hilarious uncontrollable laughter when Farley comes out"!
The way his whole body jerks with every one of Keaton's slaps, and the way he gets back up from the ground with such speed. Nobody did physical comedy like Farley
such a handsome big fella and amazingly funny he seriously needs to be immortalized
Adam Sandler makes a terrific grandma and Chris Farley does great in this skit!
This was my mom's favorite skit!
Oh my goodness 3:34 I couldn't breathe from laughter. I've seen this once before as a child too. I've always been a fan of Chris Farley. I own all his titles. Miss that guy.
🇵🇷🤘🏾
Adam is funny as grandma here. You gotta take care of grandma. Farley taking down the shelf of plates cracks me up.
holy cow when keaton does the behind the back punch you can hear his knuckles make contact with farleys head lol. he wore it.
Met Chris Farley as a kid a few years before he died. Regular dude and just genuinely a funny nice guy. RIP man.
"STOP TOUCHING ME!" LOL FTW
You can se how much Adam wanted to laugh.
As soon as Chris got on the ladder, you KNOW he is gonna fall. Even still, it's so funny when he does. Miss ya Chris...
Now... I want that big plattah on the top shelf. 🤣
Uh-oh. I think we know what's going to happen
Farley really took that fall
I miss Chris Farley . He was such a natural talent
still funny years later. this was a classic era of SNL because of the comedic legends and writing talent.
