Same on both Type 90s. Spamming JM33 is truly fun and let you to potato some shots or even trick people to expose themself. It helped me a lot, the only thing i regret is the absence of the ESS (i know, JSDF do not have such equipment for their tanks), with such thing you can pull nasty tricks (as i do with my Merkavas and something with the Russian, mostly the T-80s)

@@Faded._i am grinding the normal Type-16 right now. The M735s are good enough for their job. I once killed a Leopard PSO or 2A7 frontally at a distance greater than one kilometer with it once, and not to the lower front plate. It is good at its job. Hopefully I get the type 93 (shell) soon.
i just hope that the type 10s gets their proper transmission at some point. currently ingame its about as mobile as the type 90. but in reality it should accelerate way faste for those that are wondering what the difference is. type 10 uses a CVT transmission that can change through a continuous range of gear ratios. compared to an automatic transmissions that provide a limited number of gear ratios in fixed steps.
Fun fact. The type 10 tank transmission is currently the only cvt transmission ever developed that is considered very reliable. I work on transmissions from time to time and my coworker that was stationed in Japan talked to the Japanese mechanics who sung praises of the trans because when it did break, it was an on field fix, where as even hondas cvt rarely last 75k and when they go it's a total replacement
My coworker witnessed them replace a cvt part from just laying on the open rear deck and taking a few housings apart. He didn't describe it to well so if you know how they used modularity in the design I'd love to learn more

I have a wishlist of Japanese vehicles, starting with Type 10 APS, STC-1/2 (135mm not mounted, but supposed to be?) Type 11 SAM, Chu MPM, STB-6, B78 IFV, Ka-To TD, O-I, Chi Nu Kai, M24 SS-11, Type 74 SPH, Type 74 G+, Chi-Se, Komatsu B78-105, Ta-Ha, SY-60, and a few others. For planes, I think giving the F-1/T-2 Chaff pods, and then gaijin could do its magic and make them chaff/flare pods, then giving them their guided stuff (ASMs). Then the Ki-201, Yokosuka Tenga, G10N, Fuji T-1, F-2A and B, F-15J Kai, Ki-91, S1A Denko, Ki-98, J8M, Kawasaki P-1, P-3J, XF-2A, and a few others that I have forgot. Oh and Fs-T-2 Kai, and 9Ls for the F-1 For helis I have heard they use a MH-60 with hellfires, and apparently I’ve also heard of cancelled plans to mount the OH-1 Ninja with ground attack ordnance.

the ype 10 is not an underdog, that thing is a menace. And the AAM3's are underperforming like crazy, they have the same exact model as the 9M, but has a bit reduced drag, so slighter longer range, even though it should pull more and have better range. Not sure if it also had a better seeker, but it might have had in real life

They can introduce the Tan Sam II with the type 11 missile. It's on the same type 73 truck as the type 81 but can also be placed on the Toyota land cruiser like the type 93. The missile just like the type 81 has ir homing for terminal guidance and can be switched to semi active radar like the type 81 but type 11 has better capabilities and better eccm. It was intruded in 2014 so still pretty new but not that new. F2A and B models would be a dream. And although virtually nothing is known about type 10s APS it does have one hopefully more info on how it looks comes out and that can be added the type 96 mpm its an anti tank missile carrier in the toyota land cruiser with the ability to fire from behind cover.

Hyped to see this a week after getting to 11.7 Japan. The 11.0 and 11.7 lineups are so much fun with the suspension and 4s reloads. I actually didn't realize how little armor the Type 90s have or how wonky the 10/TKX armor is until seeing a Reddit post the other day. I survive just about as much as in the Swedish Leo 10.3 Leos sometimes. My one gripe is no SACLOS SPAA... the amount of time I spend staring at helicopters praying the stupid IR seeker finds it.... Ive also 100% had that issue with it not firing multiple times.
Can confirm. I had a miserable time to finish the SEPv2 research at 11.0, but doing the same for the TKX (P) and Type 81 went as smooth as butter. I thought i would waste my time and sanity on the Type 90s, instead i've used them with great results and fun (plus 2 nukes, one as a clutch against a whole "Allied" team...it was a great "Uno Reverse Card" as someone said in the chat that day🤣🤣🤣)
Also can confirm. The first nuke I ever dropped was with Japan 11.0, and I continue to do so every now and then. The Type 90s and Type 10(P) are really good, but the Type 81 does really help get those final few SP sometimes.
I fury ground the Japanese tech tree after facing a hacker with Chinese character name shooting through buildings every 4 seconds and getting kills. 1, the 4 sec reload alone makes type 90s gods. 2, they need to do better against hackers cause this game is getting ridiculous
i still enjoy the Type90s more, 11.0 so a lot more downtiers, and less uptiers since a lot of the 11.7 bracket gets sucked into 12.3-12.7 by people bringing jets, so uptiers are a lot less common, and when they do happen, they are still pretty decent with how speedy type90s are. That and the transmission of the type 10 hasn't been fixed, since they are RECORDED to accelerate faster than the type90s, and while are a lot better than in release, they are still lacking behind the type90s, and lose more speed while turning.
I just really enjoy the 4s reload together with the mobility. I dont like heavy tanks with armor or brawler playstyle at all, i much more like being a rat and play the mobility game and the 4s reload compliments it so well. I think my KD with all the Japanese top tier mbt's is over 3.0. Still hoping the Type 10's get their transmission turned into its realistic form. IRL the Type 10 is even faster than the Type 90 but in game that is not the case just because of different transmission systems not existing. The only thing in WT that matters is gear number and horsepower. If youd make the Type 10's mobility realistic youd have to give it like 1700 horsepower to simulate its real life speed. Oh well, its not like gaijin will ever do this though since they dont care for minor nations, sincerely a Japan/Italy main.
so, korean things would make more sense close go the polish lineup than the japanese. they're the ones who are using a bunch of korean weapons, including tanks. so... maybe.... germany? but it would be a stretch putting a k2PL in germany however i'm in for it
i love japan, i HATE that they give them NO cas, only cas that's halfway viable is the f16aj because gaijin didn't give the C variant of the f15 guided bomb like every other f15 Edit: not to mention the fact that the f4ej kai has worse cas than the f4c which makes total sense
The amount of times I could've gotten a nuke with Japan top tier is crazy, then again the nerfing some of Japan's greatest vehicles like the 89 is sad Though my win rates in japan are low cause of facing Sweden and Germany.
Japanese modern tanks kinda suffer due to their real life doctrine, very much like their ww2 designs (which were designed to be smaller and lighter so they could be used in forest and be transported by landing craft). Their modern tanks are designed as basically ambush vehicles, they would set up in a position where they would hide themselves and use their hydropneumatic suspension to achieve greater flexibility in positions in hills which Japan has a lot of. This means their tanks are typically designed with emphasis on not being shot at all rather than most other countries which have armor mostly as a backup. And this effects how they play in war thunder specially bc of how map dependent they can be, and gaijin doesn’t have the best map creation.
Justin, you're one of the few WT youtubers I could tolerate but showing Gaijin our secret fave spaa spots, broooo how could you do that to your homies, man. Last time, Spookston showed one of my fave Wiesel spots on his video and then later Gaijin removes it with the red zone of death. Gaijin keeps removing a lot of spots that I hide in that is not even over powered to the point that a lot of maps in the game are running out of special qualities on them.
Why does spaa missiles dont proxy on low altitude targets? Give me a science explanation otherwise I'm gonna use it to grill helicopter players. What the hell is that hand holding unskilled player feature? So helis with fire and forget missiles that are bobbing in and out behind a small low hill is uncontested and untouchable?

I pretty much just got the Type 10 and TKX, I mostly take only 16 rounds, how much do you notice with getting ammoracked if you take 18 or 20 rounds? Also Justin, the F-2 (Viper Zero) never carried GBU's nor Mav's. It only has JDAM's which can only be dropped against static targets, there is a single F-2 which got modified to carry the Sniper Targetting pod so it can drop LJDAM's (Laser guided JDAM) and those however can be used against moving targets. So we have to hope that we get South Korea as a subtree which do actually have Mavericks on their (K)F-16's
I only started the japanese tree that I'm grinding with my friend only. At first, it was one of the countries that I was least attracted to because I was never crazy about their WWII vehicles and didn't know much about their postwar vehicles. But having played them up to the 3.3/3.7 line up, I have to say that they're a whole lot of fun. Your armor isn't that great, but the mobility is okay and the firepower works. Some of their tanks have really amazing gun depression (-10 degrees!) which is so good to have for me as a soviet main! It's not an easy country, but it's a lot of fun for a somewhat experienced player. I would advise people to try Japan as their second or third country. They kind of need some finesse and map knowledge to make them work, but once you do, they are rewarding to play. With their WWII vehicles, outside the numerous derp guns that they get, you need to know where to shoot since they have weak penetration values though. It's also a pretty short tech tree, so you aren't stuck in it for a long time. As an additional advantage, the average japanese player tends to be of a higher skill level than your average WT player, so you aren't stuck with braindead players that ruin your game experience like some certain countries like Germa... *cough* and USA *cough*! :D Conclusion, they're really worth trying.
As a Japan main, the dozer on the TKX does really help. Since they made it so that the Type 10s have no frontal armor, that, dozer really does help a lot. Also, the fact they upped the BR of the Type 89 is so wrong, especially since they’ve nerfed it more than 10 times. I’m currently grinding France rn though, since Gaijin still refuses to give Japan guided munitions. The T-2 and F-2 both could carry IR guided bombs. Pretty sure the F-15J can carry JDAMs too. I have 2 go to lineups in Japan right now, that being 7.3 and 11.0, as they’re both powerful lineups. One more thing, I don’t understand why they don’t give the AH-64DJP a warning system. Sure, it didn’t have it in real life, but did you know Japan is the only nation that services stingers on its Apaches? That means, literally no other Apache in game should get stingers (except maybe America), yet they do. So I can only hope they give the DJP a warning system one day.
I started playing Japan as my first ever tech tree for ground. I’ve played every air tree in the game except for Japan and Sweden. Japan ground seemed appealing to me because of the Type 93. I bought the Type 16FPS and I sucked at it but I’ve stuck to it and I’ve slowly been getting better. A few more weeks and I should be at top tier. It’s been fun.
It would make sense if the type 90 maybe had spall liners but the type 10/ tkx shouldn't because Japan was really thinking of it's weight keeping it under 50 tons. That's due to the roads and bridges in Japan wouldn't be able to support it.
MAW is not relevant anyways, i turn it off all the times, if you play from distance it will only burn the flares at every SAM fired, not necesarly at you. Its only relevant if you're getting closer so against manpads and against planes which is rarely ocassions than SPAAs..
F-15s rip with a slight breeze above 18ish minutes of fuel. So be aware of that. And taking full internal fuel should be enough for an ARB, so like 20-30m might be enough for a GRB match. Love the videos! Just some tips.
Now that the Type 10’s are in (even with drastically reduced armor) and the AA problem has been fixed, top tier Japan is my favorite to play. I grind for SL in my top tier Japan lineup because I have unboxed so many talismans for them that it’s practically a goldmine. With the Type 10’s hydropneumatic suspension, going hull down in weird spots gets me a TON of kills.

I think the best experience i got from Japan were at (old) 9.0 with the Type 16 and Type 74, (old) 8.3 with Type 89 and Type 87 SPAAG, 11.3/11.7 with the Type 10s, and (current) 11.0. The last one, 11.0, was totally a blast with the Type 90s. I thought the grind would be miserable with the HEAT, instead in a bunch of game and thanks to both autoloader and suspensions, i reach the JM33 and start to have a lot of fun, even grab two nukes with both tanks. All their RPs went into the Type 81 (insane AA) and the TKX prototype, which i will buy with the sales and...if all of them are still at that BR, i'm gonna to put talismans on each one. I still think Japan deserve to be played for such moments, like Italy and even France, at some BRs there is so much potential for the players!

The type 93 is not a very functional vehicle but that’s not why you should use it. It’s so funny to zip around the map and hit jumps in front of people. One of the most fun vehicles in the game
I prefer the type 90 over the type 10. Type 90 is simply more mobile and doesn't lose a lot of speed when slightly turning. Sure there's a huge difference between the rounds but that doesn't matter if you're still aiming on weak spots on certain mbts.
The only thing japan is missing are guided bombs and there are pictures of an F-4EJ Kai with these bombs (not to be confused with that JDAM picture since those were a mockup for testing) but even theres is proof of them being loaded in T-2s and F-1s

in order for the mav to damage the tank it has to be locked to it, hes not locking it to the target, or the game is bugging

The stats are just a copy paste from the 9M. Fin AoA are exactly the same but fin drag is reduced which is why its like this

Hyped to see this a week after getting to 11.7 Japan. The 11.0 and 11.7 lineups are so much fun with the suspension and 4s reloads. I actually didn't realize how little armor the Type 90s have or how wonky the 10/TKX armor is until seeing a Reddit post the other day. I survive just about as much as in the Swedish Leo 10.3 Leos sometimes. My one gripe is no SACLOS SPAA... the amount of time I spend staring at helicopters praying the stupid IR seeker finds it.... Ive also 100% had that issue with it not firing multiple times.

I had a miserable time to finish the SEPv2 research at 11.0, but doing the same for the TKX (P) and Type 81 went as smooth as butter.
I thought i would waste my time and sanity on the Type 90s, instead i've used them with great results and fun (plus 2 nukes, one as a clutch against a whole "Allied" team...it was a great "Uno Reverse Card" as someone said in the chat that day🤣🤣🤣)
Also can confirm. The first nuke I ever dropped was with Japan 11.0, and I continue to do so every now and then. The Type 90s and Type 10(P) are really good, but the Type 81 does really help get those final few SP sometimes.

I fury ground the Japanese tech tree after facing a hacker with Chinese character name shooting through buildings every 4 seconds and getting kills.
1, the 4 sec reload alone makes type 90s gods.
2, they need to do better against hackers cause this game is getting ridiculous
The type 89 is hilarious. It punchs soooo far above its weight. Constantly killing T-Series and abrams with the cannon
i still enjoy the Type90s more, 11.0 so a lot more downtiers, and less uptiers since a lot of the 11.7 bracket gets sucked into 12.3-12.7 by people bringing jets, so uptiers are a lot less common, and when they do happen, they are still pretty decent with how speedy type90s are.
That and the transmission of the type 10 hasn't been fixed, since they are RECORDED to accelerate faster than the type90s, and while are a lot better than in release, they are still lacking behind the type90s, and lose more speed while turning.
I just really enjoy the 4s reload together with the mobility. I dont like heavy tanks with armor or brawler playstyle at all, i much more like being a rat and play the mobility game and the 4s reload compliments it so well. I think my KD with all the Japanese top tier mbt's is over 3.0.
Still hoping the Type 10's get their transmission turned into its realistic form. IRL the Type 10 is even faster than the Type 90 but in game that is not the case just because of different transmission systems not existing. The only thing in WT that matters is gear number and horsepower. If youd make the Type 10's mobility realistic youd have to give it like 1700 horsepower to simulate its real life speed. Oh well, its not like gaijin will ever do this though since they dont care for minor nations, sincerely a Japan/Italy main.
so, korean things would make more sense close go the polish lineup than the japanese. they're the ones who are using a bunch of korean weapons, including tanks. so... maybe.... germany? but it would be a stretch putting a k2PL in germany

i love japan, i HATE that they give them NO cas, only cas that's halfway viable is the f16aj because gaijin didn't give the C variant of the f15 guided bomb like every other f15

The amount of times I could've gotten a nuke with Japan top tier is crazy, then again the nerfing some of Japan's greatest vehicles like the 89 is sad

They won’t get any later version of the F-16, they will get the F-2 though but I don’t think Japan has ever equipped them with any Paveways
Japanese modern tanks kinda suffer due to their real life doctrine, very much like their ww2 designs (which were designed to be smaller and lighter so they could be used in forest and be transported by landing craft). Their modern tanks are designed as basically ambush vehicles, they would set up in a position where they would hide themselves and use their hydropneumatic suspension to achieve greater flexibility in positions in hills which Japan has a lot of.
This means their tanks are typically designed with emphasis on not being shot at all rather than most other countries which have armor mostly as a backup. And this effects how they play in war thunder specially bc of how map dependent they can be, and gaijin doesn’t have the best map creation.

Last time, Spookston showed one of my fave Wiesel spots on his video and then later Gaijin removes it with the red zone of death.
Gaijin keeps removing a lot of spots that I hide in that is not even over powered to the point that a lot of maps in the game are running out of special qualities on them.

I pretty much just got the Type 10 and TKX, I mostly take only 16 rounds, how much do you notice with getting ammoracked if you take 18 or 20 rounds?
Also Justin, the F-2 (Viper Zero) never carried GBU's nor Mav's. It only has JDAM's which can only be dropped against static targets, there is a single F-2 which got modified to carry the Sniper Targetting pod so it can drop LJDAM's (Laser guided JDAM) and those however can be used against moving targets.
So we have to hope that we get South Korea as a subtree which do actually have Mavericks on their (K)F-16's

I only started the japanese tree that I'm grinding with my friend only. At first, it was one of the countries that I was least attracted to because I was never crazy about their WWII vehicles and didn't know much about their postwar vehicles. But having played them up to the 3.3/3.7 line up, I have to say that they're a whole lot of fun. Your armor isn't that great, but the mobility is okay and the firepower works. Some of their tanks have really amazing gun depression (-10 degrees!) which is so good to have for me as a soviet main!
It's not an easy country, but it's a lot of fun for a somewhat experienced player. I would advise people to try Japan as their second or third country. They kind of need some finesse and map knowledge to make them work, but once you do, they are rewarding to play. With their WWII vehicles, outside the numerous derp guns that they get, you need to know where to shoot since they have weak penetration values though. It's also a pretty short tech tree, so you aren't stuck in it for a long time.
As an additional advantage, the average japanese player tends to be of a higher skill level than your average WT player, so you aren't stuck with braindead players that ruin your game experience like some certain countries like Germa... *cough* and USA *cough*! :D
Conclusion, they're really worth trying.

As a Japan main, the dozer on the TKX does really help. Since they made it so that the Type 10s have no frontal armor, that, dozer really does help a lot. Also, the fact they upped the BR of the Type 89 is so wrong, especially since they’ve nerfed it more than 10 times. I’m currently grinding France rn though, since Gaijin still refuses to give Japan guided munitions. The T-2 and F-2 both could carry IR guided bombs. Pretty sure the F-15J can carry JDAMs too. I have 2 go to lineups in Japan right now, that being 7.3 and 11.0, as they’re both powerful lineups.
One more thing, I don’t understand why they don’t give the AH-64DJP a warning system. Sure, it didn’t have it in real life, but did you know Japan is the only nation that services stingers on its Apaches? That means, literally no other Apache in game should get stingers (except maybe America), yet they do. So I can only hope they give the DJP a warning system one day.
I started playing Japan as my first ever tech tree for ground. I’ve played every air tree in the game except for Japan and Sweden. Japan ground seemed appealing to me because of the Type 93. I bought the Type 16FPS and I sucked at it but I’ve stuck to it and I’ve slowly been getting better. A few more weeks and I should be at top tier. It’s been fun.
It would make sense if the type 90 maybe had spall liners but the type 10/ tkx shouldn't because Japan was really thinking of it's weight keeping it under 50 tons. That's due to the roads and bridges in Japan wouldn't be able to support it.
MAW is not relevant anyways, i turn it off all the times, if you play from distance it will only burn the flares at every SAM fired, not necesarly at you. Its only relevant if you're getting closer so against manpads and against planes which is rarely ocassions than SPAAs..
F-15s rip with a slight breeze above 18ish minutes of fuel. So be aware of that. And taking full internal fuel should be enough for an ARB, so like 20-30m might be enough for a GRB match. Love the videos! Just some tips.
Now that the Type 10’s are in (even with drastically reduced armor) and the AA problem has been fixed, top tier Japan is my favorite to play. I grind for SL in my top tier Japan lineup because I have unboxed so many talismans for them that it’s practically a goldmine. With the Type 10’s hydropneumatic suspension, going hull down in weird spots gets me a TON of kills.

I think the best experience i got from Japan were at (old) 9.0 with the Type 16 and Type 74, (old) 8.3 with Type 89 and Type 87 SPAAG, 11.3/11.7 with the Type 10s, and (current) 11.0.
The last one, 11.0, was totally a blast with the Type 90s. I thought the grind would be miserable with the HEAT, instead in a bunch of game and thanks to both autoloader and suspensions, i reach the JM33 and start to have a lot of fun, even grab two nukes with both tanks.
All their RPs went into the Type 81 (insane AA) and the TKX prototype, which i will buy with the sales and...if all of them are still at that BR, i'm gonna to put talismans on each one.
I still think Japan deserve to be played for such moments, like Italy and even France, at some BRs there is so much potential for the players!

The type 93 is not a very functional vehicle but that’s not why you should use it. It’s so funny to zip around the map and hit jumps in front of people. One of the most fun vehicles in the game
I prefer the type 90 over the type 10. Type 90 is simply more mobile and doesn't lose a lot of speed when slightly turning. Sure there's a huge difference between the rounds but that doesn't matter if you're still aiming on weak spots on certain mbts.
The only thing japan is missing are guided bombs and there are pictures of an F-4EJ Kai with these bombs (not to be confused with that JDAM picture since those were a mockup for testing) but even theres is proof of them being loaded in T-2s and F-1s
