  • Recorded for the American Farmer Television Program, this 12 minute video explains the cost savings and herd health benefits of bagging silage with Versa Baggers rather than using silos or pit methods for storing silage feed.
Traditional methods of silage storage such as silos or pits can lose up to 20% of the usable feed every year. Versa customers experience almost zero loss. That allows a farmer to feed 20% more cows with the same amount of silage. Bagged silage also produces a higher quality of feed, generating a higher lactic acid content in the fermentation process. This makes the feed more digestible which increases the milk production in dairy cows and weight gain in beef cattle.
Versa Corporation builds the most advanced baggers in the industry and leads the world in total bagged tonnage.

HOWEVER, it costs way more than 20% more to make a bag than a pile

Please send us your scenario and math, Kim. We'll be happy to compare notes and show you why bagging is better for you and your herd: Bagit@versacorporation.com

That is only true if you have free labour and almost free fuel. 😉
But seriously its not free to hire people and packing tractors like many have to do when they try to make a big pile and cover it in 1-2 days,
spesially the covering part takes a lot of people if its a big pile and-ore windy..
Bagging on the other hand you can do with as little as 1-2 people IF needed.
becouse the bag finishes as you go and only the end(s) need extra cover-sealing.
So the bagger + bags might seam like a big investment but surprice.. silage piles AND single wrapped bales use lots of pplastic too. hehe
