Stewart Kircher Versa Silage Bagger Testimonial
Stewart Kircher from Forest Glen Jerseys tells of his experiences with Versa Baggers and Versa Corporation. Forest Glen Jerseys is an organic Dairy in Dayton, Oregon that chose to Bag their silage over15 years ago. With about 2000 cows to feed, quality feed is extremely important for maximum milk production. Forest Glen uses a Versa ID1014 Silage Bagger with a 14ft Tunnel that produces 14 'x 500' silage bags. They put up about 20,000-30,000 tons of Corn Silage, Corn Earlage, Alfalfa, and Grass Silage every year.
Stewart says, "We like Bagging compared to the pits because we see virtually zero spoilage in the bags."
The Versa ID1014 Bagger is a 550HP self-propelled table-feed bagger capable of keeping up with two harvesting machines. Depending upon the feed, the Bagger has a capacity of 8-14 tons a minute.
Versa Corporation has been building Silage Bagging and Handling Equipment for over 40 years and has more Patented Innovations than any other Bagger Manufacturer. Versa Baggers are well known for their ease of use, simple design and heavy duty construction that lasts more than 20 years. More silage is bagged with Versa Baggers than any other Bagger in the World.

How many pounds of corn silage does it hold per scoop?

We have 8 different sizes of Versa Buckets. Our Model 25 hold approximately 113 lbs of silage with a closed bucket and our Model 300 holds approximately 1542 lbs of silage with a closed bucket. The design of the bucket holds more however, as it pinches the load and silage extends beyond the front of the bucket for each load.

That is only true if you have free labour and almost free fuel. 😉 But seriously its not free to hire people and packing tractors like many have to do when they try to make a big pile and cover it in 1-2 days, spesially the covering part takes a lot of people if its a big pile and-ore windy.. Bagging on the other hand you can do with as little as 1-2 people IF needed. becouse the bag finishes as you go and only the end(s) need extra cover-sealing. So the bagger + bags might seam like a big investment but surprice.. silage piles AND single wrapped bales use lots of pplastic too. hehe
