No we have not yet tested them. We are offering the rifle with our own Pmags and the rifle will be tuned to those magazines. This doesn't mean that they won't work with others but every magazine has its own tolerances and we had to pick one, it seems that might be the reason for the Taipan issue.

Hey mate, so are we! All I know is that QLD has a Eureka rifle for testing and evaluation purposes, we don't know when they will be done but it can only be a few days now. NSW has received photos and reports and we are also awaiting a responds from them. All other states will fall in line with what QLD and NSW determine. The barrels are being shipped as we speak, so it is not long now. I hope that Rick can give an update next week. Bastian
We are working with NSW registry and even have been offered support from the NSW Shooters Union in this matter. We won't know until it is registered but we are positive as we have gone above and beyond to align with the appearance laws.

Hi mate, the trigger can not be adjusted, It will be a 4lb trigger from the factory due to legal requirements. However, our in-house but independent gunsmith can do a trigger job. What I don't know yet is how that impacts warranty. Will find out more
Is thr rifle compatible with standard buffer tube style stocks? And is it possible to change the forend/handguard to a different aftermarket one? I think its really cool that you're making the lever available on either side because even as a right handed user i would actually consider moving the lever to the other side depending on what i found comfortable.
In the event that the rifle initially gets denied by NSWFAR (hopefully this doesn't occur), you guys may need to develop a new buttstock adaptor piece that lowers the axis of the stock such that it sits below the axis of the bore - I believe that is the key feature that allowed for the Taipan and CZ515 tactical to be approved in NSW. I suppose then the original inline stock adaptor could be sold separately? I figured I would float the suggestion ahead of time, and fingers crossed it does not end up being necessary.
The release date is depending on the police approval, might be in 2 weeks. You will be able to purchase a right or left hand lever but they are two different levers.

Turns out the "thinner" sporter barrel was the same weight as the fluted match barrel, hence we decided not to offer the sporter barrel as it had no advantages other than being a bit cheaper.
How are you guys handling the heat treatment of components, and quality control of the preorder/early production rifles in general? I'm sure you guys are well aware of the early production Taipans having snapping cam pins (and potentially bolt lugs?) due to poorly done heat treat, and I assume you probably don't want to repeat that, nor the mistakes of Canadian built civilian market AR180 variants which also historically have suffered from some pretty egregious heat treat failures (snapping/bending pistons, cracking gas blocks, fracturing bolt carriers etc)
Eureka outsource their heat treatment to a very well respected and professional company. That said, Eureka has internal quality control which also covers the heat treatment checks. And yes, we are very aware of other companies' mistakes. :)
There still hasn't been any footage of a shooter being able to actuate the lever release without having to move or contort their firing hand. Unless the rifle can pass this ergonomic/efficiency test and the be able to be used without having to disrupt the position of the firing hand, it'll be another well made rifle with bad operating ergonomics. Any feedback on this?
Hi mate, thanks for the feedback and great pickup! There are a few reasons for the lack of footage. 1. The prototype lever was not the final lever design hence we did not show too much of the lever in action. 2. The current lever is correct in its design but 1-1.5cm too short so it is hard to reach, hence the breaking of perfect hand position. The final production lever will be on the current production run which I am waiting for to be assembled so I can send those guns around the country for show and tell (shot show etc) Rest assured, when you have the rifle in your hand by the time it is produced, you will see it will be a perfect fit and fun as hell!

Or would the safety interfere? This would be an attractive feature, particularly for those with smaller hands or shoot a false thumb grip - particularly in the prone position.
@@jump7057 Great question, you can have the Eureka in left hand config which would have the lever on the right side. The lever's are not the same and can not be swapped over, so if you want both options you would need to buy a second lever which will be available. However as you thought, the safety will need to also be swapped over (which is a piece of piss). To answer your follow up question, no you can't have two levers mounted at the same time as the safety will be in the way. That also just made me think about future designs :) Double lever :) now on the development road map. Thanks for that train of thought!!!
Looks interesting. One question: what is the rationale for the charging handle to be on the right hand side rather than on the left so that the master hand can remain on the grip?
It's based off the AR18 operating mechanism which was originally designed with a right side charging handle. Your right hand can still remain on the grip, just reach under or over and charge it like one would charge an AK.
No we have not tested larger magazines, we will have the rifle tuned towards our pmags as all magazines have slight differences, hence we had to pick "a size". That doesn't mean that they won't work with others, it just means that they are most reliable with our magazines.

No the .223 will be out first as this is already in production. The .300 is in final design and testing next week, so it won't hit the market before the .223. But you can buy the .223 and then just the .300 barrel after the fact.
Will you be able to operate the lever release with the thumb of your shooting hand? Or will it be positioned so you have to move your support hand to the back of the firearm to operate the lever release ?
The lever will be operated by your trigger hand and you wont need to break your grip. The lever we have had on the prototype was shorter than the production lever so it was easier for me to reach it with the other hand while laying down.
Hi mate, really depends on 4 factors. 1. What your spot is on the line and how long a PTA is valid in your state?! 2. When the cops approve the firearm in your respective state and the barrel delivery arrives. Let me know what your situation is.

That's like asking for the lottery numbers the day before. Who really knows mate. In all honesty, we are positive on Tas but they often through a curve ball to a lot of other companies and brands, so I can't tell you until the first gun is registered in Tas. Stay tuned.
Sad that we have reached the point where Police must approve a firearm, this rifle is not a semi auto and therefore should logically be cat B. Looking forward to release of production models.
Turns out that police need to approve every weapon that comes into the state. Most times, if it comes in from overseas, customs does the check, but if it comes from interstate state, then weapons licensing does the checks. Once the specific weapon has been categorised, there is no need for further approval, etc. Even once QLD categories a weapon, each state would also need to check it. In some states, that is then easier than others. So tight 😀
This gun looks really good. like really really good. clean with the right amount of detail. I look forward to seeing how much it will cost. Unfortunately for me im not a centerfire shooter. Id be over the moon if eureka made a similar rifle for rimfire in the future.

Hey mate, how did your meetings go with QPS, the director of weapons licensing and inspector of ballistics a few months ago? You indicated that licensing hinge on QPS first….. A couple of questions in regards to the recent updates to the firearm. With the radiusing on the back of the lower will an AR 10 style grip mate up? (opens up grip choices). Did you smooth out the continuum of the upper pic rail to fore-end pic rail in the release version? Ta, Tony

Standard Pmags and steel mags. We will offer our own pmags and the rifle will be tuned to those as all mags have slightly different tolerances.

Yes it will be compatible for mil spec but not in NSW and TAS.

What he says. From a design perspective, too much needs to be redesigned to make it left hand charging.

15 round max capacity for bolt guns in Vic for cat B mate.

I really hope that trigger blade shape changes. A straight bar for a trigger is really poor form.
Thanks for the feedback. The current trigger will be straight and very crisp. That said, I am sure there will be another trigger or after market triggers in the future.
How light is the trigger?
Legally we have to make it 4lb from the factory, but trigger jobs are available by our in-house but independent gunsmith, more on that soon.

That's like asking for the lottery numbers the day before. Who really knows mate. In all honesty, we are positive on Tas but they often through a curve ball to a lot of other companies and brands, so I can't tell you until the first gun is registered in Tas. Stay tuned.

Sad that we have reached the point where Police must approve a firearm, this rifle is not a semi auto and therefore should logically be cat B. Looking forward to release of production models.
Turns out that police need to approve every weapon that comes into the state. Most times, if it comes in from overseas, customs does the check, but if it comes from interstate state, then weapons licensing does the checks. Once the specific weapon has been categorised, there is no need for further approval, etc. Even once QLD categories a weapon, each state would also need to check it. In some states, that is then easier than others. So tight 😀

This gun looks really good. like really really good. clean with the right amount of detail. I look forward to seeing how much it will cost. Unfortunately for me im not a centerfire shooter. Id be over the moon if eureka made a similar rifle for rimfire in the future.

Hey mate, how did your meetings go with QPS, the director of weapons licensing and inspector of ballistics a few months ago? You indicated that licensing hinge on QPS first…..
A couple of questions in regards to the recent updates to the firearm.
With the radiusing on the back of the lower will an AR 10 style grip mate up? (opens up grip choices).
Did you smooth out the continuum of the upper pic rail to fore-end pic rail in the release version?

Qps meeting was very promising and the right things were said, in the end it depends on the actions that follow but so far everyone has held their word including us.
The radius is unlikely the same but i have to test it first.
