Thank you. Knowing Logan, he was probably looking hard for a squirrel!

@@DaveFord wish I was able to visit that area more. Good way for me to see it and then tag it for a future walk

Thanks Ann. Summer is the best time to do this walk as it can get a bit muddy, just as you start to go downhill into Bramshaw Wood, in the wetter Winter months.

Hi Dave, We live in Nunton and did this walk yesterday, a very hot day but the beautiful trees in Bramshaw Wood provided lots of shade and were stunning. As an archaeologist I noticed the Bronze Age barrows on Black Bush Plain had been robbed out, one really badly by Antiquarian gold diggers ! We made it to Nomansland for a picnic next to the cricket pitch and then back through the woods via Rushy Slab. Followed your advice about the sun after that bit as not sure of the paths and came out to the west of Bramble Hill hotel . A lovely walk - will do it gain in the autumn when the leaves are changing colour. Liked the history bits as well - the woods are absolutely wonderful.

I know that the stallions being used are to help bring back the true quality breed of New forest ponies. Take care 😘

Hello Dave. Just thinking about those old enclosure banks. Did they originally have some sort of fence on top? I thought the Well of Remembrance was a wonderful name for a war memorial. Also, I had no idea there were so many ancient burial mounds in the Forest. Fascinating video.

Yes the boundary banks would have a wooden fence on top - which would be removed when the inclosure was "thrown open" - a few decades after being inclosed (ie the newly planted trees would have grown sufficiently to withstand attacks from livestock by then).

@@DaveFord Thanks. I’ve often wondered about that. You’re a mine of information.
