    I've been having focus problems with my R7 recently. After looking for solutions I see a few people saying Canon has done warranty replacement of some components to fix it.

  • @jeffbucklew6875
    @jeffbucklew6875 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow! I've spent many hours trying to get what I expected to get from the R7 and was quite unsuccessful. I was disappointed coming from a Canon 1DMKIV sadly. I reviewed so many videos regarding settings etc I was about at the end of my options and was looking at possibly having to change out camera bodies again. After doing the factory reset after the firmware update and then resetting all my custom dials and buttons I'm amazed at the improvement. I went from roughly a 20% sharp image success rate to I would say 80% success rate shooting small birds with the Canon 100-500mm and my old 500mm F4 ver 1 tele. Small birds are fast moving and sometimes very difficult to get a lock on as we all know and I'm now seeing amazing results. It's winter here in Wisconsin yet but now looking forward to the spring migration with some confidence behind the R7 and R6. Thanks so much for discovering and sharing the solution to this issue!

    I must say my experience with Canon support (only ever needed twice in years and both about my R7) is fantastic. I thought I got a dud battery but that was resolved but the bigger problem was with DPP and HDR PQ HEIF exports, it’s so good to talk to someone as they really want to get to the nub of the problem and solve it! Turned out to user error that one lol (but documentation could be better in the application, not the manual no one reads lol)

I took the R7 with me, and at least half of the pictures I took on holiday were lifeless, I noticed when editing on the monitor at home how lifeless the pictures were! ... and soft images usually occurs due to too slow shutter speed, shutter shock and/or movement of subject and/or the camera. IS and IBIS do not stop subject movement. Only a fast shutter speed can frezze the subject. I dont believe the firmware for anything to do with soft images, normally.

      I would believe it, but
      1) he is not really authentic by more or less stretching a lot with bla bla to get to the 10 minute mark for a explanation which could be done in 10 seconds maximum.
      2) Do we have to just pull the battery out for 30 seconds? (he also said it fixed it!)
      3) Or do we really need to reset the camera/firmware completely? Why tho if removing the battery fixed it already?
      4) He is probably high, sick, very tired or all together in the video.
      Ohh, and the main reason: I have not found any issue yet with the R7 and FW 1.2.0 (except already known, less annoying problems)9eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee9e 9 so i wont reset it until i really notice problems as shown in the video.
      Funny enough is.... he is crying about AF issues..... THATS MY EXPERIENCE IN OVERALL with a Sigma 150-600C, super annoying pulsing and so nearly unusable AF-C.
      I think also its partially a user error, why these issues are so rare then? Probably they did something different which lead to the issues?

  • @Philtho

    They also screwed up IBIS with fully manual lenses as well. You can set the lens length for IBIS, but it wont take it properly unless you turn IBIS off and back on again and then leave the camera on for that session otherwise it breaks again...... Firmware 1.3.0 better fix it or I'm seriously considering going to Fuji. If I wanted a camera with non-functional IBIS I would have gotten an R10 and saved some money. (Yeah, im pissed)

      @@harrison00xXx It's auto set for 50mm at all times. If you use a manual lens other than 50mm the IBIS is not compensating correctly. You can tell by zooming in with the x10 zoom.
