The pin in the drawer, which comes out when you turn it upside down does make sense because when you turn the whole box upside down all the pins would be in the "solution position" (flush with the top of the box). The pin in the drawer then comes out and prevents you from pulling the drawer out. It's basically an anti-cheat pin.
10:48 It very much makes sense, because if the 5th pin was not there all you would have to do to open the box is turn it upside down. The 5th pin stops that from happening. When you turn it upside down all 4 pins retract, but the 5th pin engages, so it doesn't open.
hopefully that pin in not magnetic, because then you would only need 1 magnet to open the box or a tricky way of holding it, so the top pins slide but the bottom one doesn't
I would prefer to not have a membership version of your channel, but maybe a second channel for behind-the-scenes stuff. Like it would be neat to see your displayed collection, filming equipment, how you edit, any other items that aren't puzzle related or too big to show on these vids, that sort of thing
10:42 from what I gather that pin is to keep you from bumping it open since if you turn it upside down the other pits would open but that 1 pin would keep in closed
When you found the first magnet, it made sense to me how to solve it. And just like the other pins, the front pin in the pull-out drawer is to prevent the unaware from flipping it upside down and opening it without first solving it. It also helps that I've watched enough Chris Ramsay videos to know what to expect from certain puzzle designs
Oh wow! Mr. Puzzle that's wonderful news I love your content so I am super excited to hear that we're going to get a lot more puzzles solved. But I mostly love your enthusiasm and excitement in your voice when you're solving them. And yes of course I watched your video right to the very end
Very Kool Puzzle Mr. P !!! Looks nice and it was not a boring watch . As for the videos ....I will watch as many that you put up so bet busy...lol Just busting your chops !
The extra pin is to stop the draw from opening when you turn it upside down. i.e. If you turn it upside down the locking pins will slide into the open state and the draw would be able to be opened. But, with the fifth pin when you turn it upside down it will fall into the locking state and prevent you from opening the draw. BTW: Thank you. I always enjoy watching you solve all these puzzles that I cannot afford to buy myself.
Did no one else notice that the correct magnetic positions have very faint circular marks on that brass plate? Not that it matters that much for there are only 6 positions but still.
The outside knob should have had a hole 3/4 of the way through it for the 'latch pin' to slide into so that if the pin were holding the box closed when upside down, rotating the hole in the front knob would 'lock' the box no matter which way you turned it. Unlocking would require not only finding the magnetic pieces and putting them in place but also rotating the front knob to release the 'latch pin' into that hole.
It's probably not something most people would pay for, but I'd watch uncut solving videos. Yes, I understand that they might be hours of basically nothing happening, but it would be kind of relaxing to play it in the background while working or something.
So happy to have discovered this channel. I've been playing killer sudoku so much to the point where my brain is constantly doing different sudoku math+puzzles. So this is refreshing yet still very stimulating to my ever active brain 😇
The extra pin does make sense, given it’s from the inner piece it’s action would be so that when you flip the box (and the pins coming from the outer box retract) that extra pin drops out stopping you from accidentally opening the draw by flipping the box 👍🏻
This puzzle looks awesome! I also get that videogame vibe from it, puzzle/quest games love things ike that. P.S. As a regular viewer of the channel I'm honestly pretty happy with what I see, so I don't think I'd want something else.
regarding the pin in the front that you did not understand what was it for. The 4 magnetic pin when not magnetized they are probably free to move, meaning that if you flip the box upside down they all flip out of the way. The front pin act as the lock when the box is upside down so that you cannot bypass the mecanism.
Always a fan of puzzle boxes. Or anything really but my favorites are the boxes. Though sadly I don't have any specific recommendations as your videos tend to introduce me to puzzles.
I think that extra pin is to lock it when the box is upside down. As soon as I saw how the other pins worked, I wondered what was stopping it from unlocking when upside down. I think that’s the purpose of that additional pin.
The "upside-down"-pin is VERY important and can´t be on the other side. It protects the whole system from opening just when turning it upside down. If it would not be there, you could always open the drawer as soon as it is upside down.
That would be sneaky! But I think it was maybe meant as a red herring. Because it is over the knob, someone might think it is important to make sure one is over that spot to hear the click!
Maybe they could make a box that connected to a chessboard and the function of the box is to give random stats on the pieces or een additional joined board
I think the pin is to block ppl from turning it upside to open the draw. That way the 4 pins will be in the unlock position but the pin in the fifth spot will now be in the locked position
Spring loading the pins would also be a way to avoid the flipping it over solution. Might be a little bit more fiddly though as the springs would need to be tensioned properly so the magnet could retract the pin but gravity didn't.
That's beautiful...you were given a crazy wooden jigsaw puzzle by stump craft ages ago, did it ever tempt you ... 🤔 count me in for membership, love your uploads and opinions.... discount for the puzzles you review would be awesome of course and merch, how about a review in your mother tongue, I love the German language, you could teach us some, via the magic of puzzles....
It would be awesome if they made a harder version. Where there would be an up-side down pin randomly on the playing field. So when a magnet went over it, the pin would lock into place. Giving the person trying to solve it sort of a red herring.
I would like to see as a member current puzzles and solutions Maybe do a give away puzzles every month. Show puzzles that are coming out soon. Make T-Shirts
That pin is there so you can't cheat it. If you turn it upside-down to release the four pins the pin in the door will drop preventing you from opening it.
I ordered two of those AI generated puzzles after seeing your video several days ago! A medium and a hard. I'm looking forward to receiving them and solving them! Keep on puzzling! I'm sure once I eventually manage to solve them they'll provide friends and visitors to my house hours of frustration! ;D
if those pins are movable with gravity, then that last pin is there so that you can't open it when its upside-down and unsolved. Might be able to jiggle it open when its on its side, but why would you do that to such a satisfying puzzle.
I would prefer not having a membership feature since the people who can't afford a membership wouldn't get to see all of the cool videos and puzzles but I could definitely see why you would want to enable the feature to have the extra financial support so although I prefer the current setup I will still watch videos regardless of what you decide
The regular contet would be accessible same as before! there will be no limitation in regards to Puzzle solving videos. The member area might contain additional things like live streams. Q&A videos or any other behind the scenes stuff.
I like the ancient look of the puzzle but for 170 bucks they could have at least put something inside - and if its just a paper that says congratulations. They could put a discount voucher inside for the next puzzle which would make both the puzzle maker and the customer happy. Or put an old looking chess king in there or something like that.
I think the fourth pin is a false solution where if you put a magnetic pawn over it you will here a click and think it is solved but infact you are locking it. The problem is there is no slot over the pin to put a pawn. If he had just routed one more slot over that pin then it would work.
That's what I was about to say. Gravity would beat this if that pin wasn't there.
Yes, I also noticed this when cutting my video. 👍
Spot on
I can't believe anyone had to explain that
Now we know how it works. Wonder if we could hack it by sliding a piece of paper to cover the drawer pin and just flip the box and slide it out.
I half expected mr puzzle to accidentally solve it while shifting it around nonchalantly explaining the puzzle... he's just that good lol
🙏😇

"How would you name this puzzle? ... only one possibility"
Yes, of course there's only one! Pawn Puzzler!
"Chess Box"
Oh...
I said chess box, and was 100% expecting him to use your answer
or Pawn Box
Think that pin was there so you can't open it by flipping it upside down, setting the other pins, but u setting the safety
Yes that is exactly why it is there
I was thinking the same way.. Now I am smarter than mr.Puzzle (with is far FAR from true... but I feel a little bit smart)

The pin on the drawer is there because otherwise you could just turn it upside down and open the drawer. An anti-tampering mechanism basically.

Only to be helpful, at 2:36 it’s "cast metal", not "casted metal".

11:40 Difficulty Level 2
Is this the first puzzle with two difficulty levels? 🙂
ups! 2/5 it should be and appear at 11:40 :D

Another banger from Mr Puzzle
Mr Puzzle- Solving the hardest puzzles.
Me- stuck in kid's puzzles 🙂.
I'm still trying to figure out that Giraffe puzzle.
That is hilarious. I bought the Answer Box 📦 and it did the same thing to Mr Puzzle all fell apart after I solved it!!!
I think that extra pin is to lock it when the box is upside down.
As soon as I saw how the other pins worked, I wondered what was stopping it from unlocking when upside down. I think that’s the purpose of that additional pin.
No the fifth pin is so if u turn it up side down the other four pins would release and beable to open but the fifth pin stops that from happening.
The 5th pin keeps the box locked when it's turned upside down.
And keeps the draw locked if someone tries to use the "bump" method to lift the pins.
The "upside-down"-pin is VERY important and can´t be on the other side.
It protects the whole system from opening just when turning it upside down. If it would not be there, you could always open the drawer as soon as it is upside down.

I think the 4th pin is their so that the box doesn't open if you turn it upside down. Pretty clever.
Yes
always very enjoyable to watch
thanks!
Very elegant and original
5th pin is so you don't turn the thing over and just pull the drawer out
Could you do a Mr. Puzzle library of puzzles tour some time? I would be fascinated by your museum.

Mr. Puzzle best Puzzle TH-camr.
I think the pin is to block ppl from turning it upside to open the draw. That way the 4 pins will be in the unlock position but the pin in the fifth spot will now be in the locked position
10:33 If that pin wasn't there, the difficulty of this puzzle would be lower: flip over the puzzle and volia... you can open it.
Spring loading the pins would also be a way to avoid the flipping it over solution. Might be a little bit more fiddly though as the springs would need to be tensioned properly so the magnet could retract the pin but gravity didn't.
The fifth pin drops when turned upside down to lock the puzzle as the magnetic pins unlock.

have you ever got so frustrated with a puzzle box that you throw it against a wall and the hidden object falls out :)
Christian, think about the pin in front of the drawer... There is a purpose to it why it engages when the box is flipped around 😉

Great puzzle
This intro is reminiscent of a Chris Ramsey video.
And I'm here for it.
Awesome puzzle
The puzzle could be more difficult if some pawns had repelling magnets with a spring loaded pin, so you have to pull some pins and push others
looks sick!
This was very cool
The extra pin could be a trap pin?
I think the fifth pin is for keeping the drawer in the box if you turn it upside down
watching you move the magnets and making extra steps for yourself gave me anxiety lol
Do you have the 'Dinosaur in Cage'? I think solution might be similar to the Lion, but I have not been able to solve. Live your content!
No haven't seen it yet.
Very clever box and fun to see you solving it. I'm not really a fan of a membership version.👍
Keeps you from opening the box just by turning it upside down
The 1 pin on the bottom keeps you from turning it upside down and opening it instead of using the magnets
Curious what the compartment dimensions are? Would be neat to be able to store a mtg deck in it
Put money in it and tell a kid if they can open it they can keep the.money thats inside. This way the kids learn and get rewarded for doing so..

Der eine "komische" Pin ist dafür da, damit man das Puzzel nicht einfach auf den Kopf stellt.
I think that the pin at the front is more or a red herring.
That pin is to keep you from going around the solution by lifting the pins when it’s upside down.

I would name that puzzle "The March of the Pawns," or "the People's Revolution." Then I'd put a gold coin in the middle :p
Chess Chest! ........ Surely!
They should have put a king piece in the box.
It reminds me of the Lemarchand Configuration. Be careful!
Call it the Pawn Shop
I hope you realize if there were magnetic pins and pawns and some of them are oriented differently, then this would be a much harder puzzle.
Have you designed a puzzle of your own?
If not, would you consider it?
i bet you the extra pin is magnetic, and when you smacked it it came down with out notice.
