Imagine making a puzzle like this that is so tightly machined that it can only be put together when the parts have the right temperature (due to thermal expansion), and it locks hard when all the parts are the same temperature.
@@fibbooo1123 he was proposing an idea. How are you going to tell him that the method in his idea is wrong? Temperature would work more than wringing the pieces together. Temperature differential would make it impossible to take apart/put together, wringing would just make it slightly sticky.
I have dark hair and a dark beard too. I'm sitting in front of my TV, and for a moment I thought I saw my reflection on the puzzle. Haha. It's like virtual reality.
I think that a sort of bronze asthetic would look cool. If you made the pieces all like the bronze piece, nd then changed the bronze piece to black or dark gray, and then put a little of "This sowrd is old as hell, but is still kind of new" look to it, it would look great.
I did have the thought "well, there's the proof of concept, but it's never gonna look this good and fit so perfectly in mass production." then I clicked the kickstarter link. $200. Well, you absolutely get what you pay for. A $50 version wouldn't be a work of art on the same level as this and if it's not a work of art then all you're left with is an okay puzzle. Too rich for my blood but I always appreciate the chance to see something like this, made with care by a real craftsman. And, of course, the absolute joy Mr. Puzzle gets out of putting it together!
One of the problems with Kickstart is that the product may not even exist. By sending a copy to a known authority on the subject (you) it shows it not only exists but also that the quality and build are also present. I feel much more trusted to buy one.
@@Mr.Puzzle Reminds me of the Tycho puzzle. Still had to thank you for showcasing that puzzle. I have a Tycho and Venn puzzle displayed on my desk because of that video.
The Design is awesome =) ...i think polish the outside and leave the inside with a surface right of the machine .. =) Mabe different alloys or coloration would be nice ^^
That was pleasing to watch. It's so satisfying to see that object in one piece. By the way, English is my first language, and I don't know what you call that kind of polyhedron in English either.
When I think of copper ore I think of my childhood school days in Butte Montana, where we crossed the railroad tracks for the rail company owned by Anaconda that they used to transport ore from the mines in Butte to the smelter in Anaconda 25 miles away. A lot of ore fell off those ore cars, and we would pick them up and cart them in our pockets to our school, and used them to draw h op scotch grids on the playground. Save the school a lot of expense on chalk, trust me :-)
Regarding finish: I'd prefer a patina over "in the white," but I also think anodization would be a mistake. However, I wouldn't leave it rough from machining, particularly as you need to break the edges anyway.
It’s an expensive paper weight. Because of all the milling work and tolerances needed for the thing not to fall apart when assembled. As far as a puzzle, does not seem too difficult. More of a conversation piece/office decoration/paper weight than anything else.
Priceless how quickly this type of puzzles turn from a spatial vision challenge (Can I imagine the various interfaces connecting in a 3D space?) into a dexterity one (Can I hold it so the assembled part doesn't disintegrate immediately?) :D
In my opinion polished site could be some kind of hint? I mean your brain will have much much more to think what is where. And un-polished one will look like some kind of vintage puzzle B)
If you think about ore, its the deposit of a material before its melted down and processed into its pure respective metal ingot (or something like that idk I'm not an expert). So I personally think the rough finish would make more sense than a shiny finish, both of which would look very nice regardless. but just based on the name of the puzzle, "Ore Cube", and what it means, I would go with a rough finish.
Mr Puzzle: ‘cubic spherical shape… not sure of the name in English’. Me, a native English speaker: Me either, sir… me, either. Also, I think it’s lovely that it’s so shiny. I feel like the brown (brass?) piece should be a non-shiny finish just as a bit of a contrast.
I'm not sure if you care or not but.. Considering you generally only post videos of your hands I will mention this. The viewer can see your reflection in the puzzle pieces. @ 2:11 in particular.

About shiny design, i would preferred if only the copper part (ore part) was shiny and the others was not

When I saw the pic that was my first thought.
I don’t think it’s temperature as much as it is wringing
I love this idea. Kind of like those glass bulbs with the colored fluid that moves to the top of the bulb when you hold it in your hand.

In all puzzles the genius is in the design. One end is finding a solution and solving, but the design and creation is the real genius.
You should do a top ten video on the ten hardest puzzles you’ve ever solved!

The edges look very sharp.
The location of the copper piece on this one looks different from the kick starter pics. Ooo, is each one slightly different?
Looking cute in that reflection
the finish on some of the flat surfaces make them look wavy
The best part about those CNC pieces is that absolutely perfect fit. It's super satisfying and I don't think you can get that with casting!

Not bad, better than most dovetail puzzles.
