    Unbolt or replace the upper control arms at the same time and this job is not so much of a fight!

    I've done this job a few time now and just a tip.....undo one side of the drop link from the anti roll bar and it's way easier to move the wishbone downwards. 👍

    Hey when you torque everything down, shouldn’t the final torque be when the suspension has full weight on it?

    • @mikes.garage
      @mikes.garage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you are totally right! The car should be lowered on wheels for final torque, if you loosen all bushings. I left lower control arms tight, that's why I didn't put the car down before tightening.

      @serbancordis3416 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not for balljoints as they can rotate. Bushings don t rotate,they twist and break.

    Do you have to compress the coil?

    • @mikes.garage
      @mikes.garage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, tighten fasteners to final torque only after vehicle has been lowered and suspension has settled.

    • @daikiryoku
      @daikiryoku 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no room to get spring compressors in.
      It is possible to do the job without compressing the springs but it is difficult. It's easier if the car has air springs as they can be deflated.

    • @rickdavies169
      @rickdavies169 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daikiryoku i didn't have the bmw spring compressor tool but I modified another set I had and was able to compress the spring enough to get everything back in place. I wouldn't have been able to do it without it.
