    I see you're still catching the big ones.
    Back from our trip to London/Paris. I remember you were skeptical but realize growing up in NA we aren't exposed to all the centuries of History you in the Old World are familiar with. Walking by the Thames in Westminster I did not see anyone fishing or crabbing, just tour boats going up and down. The water DID look like it would need to be treated before being discharged as effluent. But we also saw no one fishing in the Seine either though it looked much cleaner.
    Stuff I learned on the trip:
    - People in the UK are all very wealthy, everyone drives Mercedes,BMW/Audi or if poor a VW or Volvo. No one demeans himself driving a Toyota or Honda or - gasp - a KIA.
    - The portion of fish one gets in a traditional fish and chips much larger than we get in Canada, a whole fillet
    - Smoking and vaping appears to be a favourite pastime.
    - Water conservation appears to be absent, the water flow from the shower at our rental was amazing!
    Things we managed to see:
    Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, London Bridge tour inc the olde tyme engines, Buckingham Palace, St. James park, British museum (fantastic displays), Natural History museum, Stonehenge, Bath and some tourist kitsch called the London Dungeon. Had to cancel Windsor castle due to a sudden rail strike.
    In Paris, Top of the Eifel Tower, Notre Dame, ruins under Notre Dame, Basilica of Sacré Coeur (accosted by pickpockets), The Louvre. And various monuments and fountains etc.
    I'm the sort that likes to read all the descriptions on all the displays so it takes a long time. However if we make the journey again it may be to the coasts or Scotland.
    Cheerio!

    • @TheFishLocker
      @TheFishLocker  ปีที่แล้ว

      If anyone asks me to recommend places in the U.K. I say avoid major cities. You will find better food, landscapes and people around the coasts and in the countryside. 😉

    Brilliant video John! The sound of the big shark peeling line of the reel was class, can only imagine the adrenaline and joy whilst controlling the fish at this point. Totally agree with some of the other comments, the underwater shot was fantastic and showed exactly what you explained earlier with how the smaller sharks strike the bait from the side. A brilliant day John, that smile at the end says it all. Makes up for that "Ring, Ring, Porcelain ring, Handle broke and Sod it" day a little bit ago 🤣. You probably know this already ..... when I do a long day out wildlife movie making or rock dipping I use a well known make *nker powerbank plugged directly into the go pro and found out a few weeks ago that you can do the same to Akaso, Campark and many more. It works great so all you need is a SD card that is big enough for a days shoot. I wrap it in bubble wrap and use zip ties to lash it to the tripod stem or to my chest harness etc. The bubble wrap keeps the rain out and also makes the zip ties grip really well. Thanks for a great day mate and hope some of this helps . 👍🦈 All the best to the fam.

    • @TheFishLocker
      @TheFishLocker  ปีที่แล้ว

      The issue there is I use an external mic. Which plugs into the same port as the power bank. So it’s one of the other. 🤷🏻‍♂️

      I sure was.... Made all the birds nests and hooks in bushes I'd to sort out worth while.
      Think me and the missus heading to Cornwall next month and would love to go out on a charter while she's getting pampered. Any suggestions who to book in with?

    Wow! And it's interesting how the birds leave! But when the sharks are hooked, they seem less concerned and hang around! Another wonderful video. ATB

    What an epic day out John. A prolific day of shark fishing with one monster ,as you accurately called it. Loved the underwater shot of the shark coming in for the bait, even though it was a small one it was still great to see. Love your presentation of your videos & your comment about battery changes. All very informative as always. Regards to your family & thanks for the enjoyment. Cheers, Don from South Aust.

    One thing I do on the kayak when I have a big fish on and the line is straight up and down is just pedal away from the fish. That puts the line at an angle and makes it easier to pull the fish up the water column. Works especially well on large skates and rays so you're not dragging a big flat thing at a right angle to it's body.

      It’s called “Planing” the fish up. Doesn’t really work when you’re chumming as you break your slick. 👍🏻🦈

      @@TheFishLocker Yes, John back in the early nineties the majority of all sharks caught on the Cornish coast were boated and sold to Southhampton mink farms for feed, on the local news they were saying all fish were tagged and released, I thought I must have a go at that, went to make a booking and seeing that I was local and enthusiastic, I was welcomed until I said how good it was to see the fish returned, and was told in no certain terms I must be having a laugh and all fish were killed and sold to you know where, when he saw I was not freaking laughing he was relieved when I left him, as I was howling at the moon, short version.
