I have a JL 500/5 when I turn it on the green power light turns off and the yellow low ohm light turns on and it goes back and forth. Was that the issue with the amp you fixed?
An actual car battery on the bench! Don't buy your devices from Amazon. Use Digikey, Newark or Mouser - sell electronic components is all they do and they don't carry fake parts. Lots of counterfeit parts out there. If you do this a lot, you would do a lot of things very differently.
I have a Jl rd 1500/1 and it's giving me solid red light code meaning thermal shut down as soon as u power the amp on on my desk the clip light stays on even with no sound hooked up and the solid red over temp thermal code stays on and if I hook speak to it I get a click click click sound from the sub non stop any ideas
hello friend all the mosfet are of the same number? or do you have the diagram? The same thing happened to me and I took it with a technician and it did not look good when I plugged it in. I hope ... I hope you can advise me if you have the diagram or if it worked well with all the irf540n. Thank you
Ur talking about the clips on these that hold the mosfets to the heatsink? JL uses a specially made tool to remove those, you have to be careful to not bend them much or they wont put the correct pressure on the mosfets.
I was cleaning mine and slipped, the top fell and pulled the 4 wires off the status led. It has a orange, red, brown and black wire. Place the wires went two has numbers 1,2,3 and 4. Do you know what color hooks up to each number?
That sucks! I tried to find a wiring diagram for 30 min but didnt have any luck. the easiest way probably would be to power the amp up and connect a multimeter and check the wire ends the black i would assume is ground and the red might be the power for the green (on) led. if you look on ebay some has a picture of one apart and you can sort of see how its wired. i tried to attache the link but youtube wont let me.
You never showed it actually working. Sometimes you can replace all the faulty transistors and the second you power it up, a faulty audio-transformer shorts up the transistors infinitely. This happens with most older amps since the lifespan of a transformer is on average a good 15....20 years...a lot less with ohm abuse. Good video, though. Thumbs up.
Transformers can last well over 20 years on average, I rarely see bad transformers in JL amps in general. Usually aux supply caps, output or power supply transistors. Probably from overloading or driving too hard over awhile.

I have same exact issue on same exact amp that click click click sound is the muting circuit turning on and off
im having trouble separating the metal rail off the board from the heat sink side of that amp.

hi iv got a question on the jl audio 300/4 amp what the best way to out the metal guard to take out the transisters

I replaced all 8 transistors but low ohm light still came back on a couple minutes after being plugged in
Alot of the time its not just the mosfets alone, its the ics and transistors that drive them as well.
I didn't think to check eBay. Thx!
Where do you get those parts from
I am getting low v lights on when I turn up gain . Any suggestions?

the low ohm light was the only issue or the amp had no sound?
Amp had no sound.
Do you fix amps?

jar1zx rcfun nice! I'm sure that's going to help a few people. I know I almost ripped mine out by accident. Thanks for the post.
What is the main problem if the light indicator is orange? Using 450/4 jl amp thanks
Anyone’s have music for 3 seconds then stop then 3 again then stop over and over at 4 ohms on 20percent gain
