Late 70's, I first had Alpine 7123 AM/FM Cassette, Alpine 45w/ch stereo amp feeding 6×9 Sparkomatics! In a mammoth '73 Fury. In '81, I went active biamped with Alphasonik EXO, Linear Power amp feeding a 10" SpeakerLab sub in the back Alpine 5" in the doors. Alpine two-way tweeters, a big silk dome and a ribbon super tweeter. Still have every single piece in my garage! 45yrs later!
I had to mail order purchase that sub from SpeakerLab. 10" dual coil, with a 𝙎𝙌𝙐𝘼𝙍𝙀 magnet! After the Fury, I installed all that into '76 Chevette. From the land yacht, four door Fury, to the tiny Chevette!
I was really into car audio in the 90’s. A lot of great music from that era. I remember taking the dash apart, running wires, dyna-matting the trunk to improve the sound. Having to rebalance the tonearm after every pothole was a pain though. 😉
Have run great systems for years. Currently using Audison LRx4.5 amp that has served me very well for many years, incredible Illusion Carbon C6 component set with carbon fibre midbass driver and beryllium copper tweeter. Infinity Beta 12 sub. Modern Kenwood head unit with high voltage preouts, lots of tweakability and wireless Android auto. Can play FLAC up to 24/192.
@@greatlookinglandscap Wouldn't really say I'm in deep. Excellent gear for sure, but I keep my vehicles for a long time and really don't change things once first setup. I changed head units as the previous one was giving issues, so took the opportunity to make sure I had Android Auto this time.
@freeradical6390 thanks. They are a great component set. Thankfully being an audio dealer, there are some other dealers that will give me good pricing as an industry accommodation. That doesn’t always happen, but I did get a good price on these.
I was into car audio heavy back in the early 90's. A 1987 Trans Am and Alpine head units, Sound Stream amps (super high quality), Rockford pro 12" subs, A/D/S mids and tweets. It was amazing and it was amazingly expensive for a farm kid, but I loved it. Fast forward to today and I've got a 2008 F350 Lariat crew cab (4 doors). I've not had any sort of "system" in a vehicle since that Trans Am. The F350 was broke down for a year with serious and expensive engine issues and I just got it back the last week of December '23. I've had that truck for six years and I've always wanted auto-start in it. I went up to the audio dealer and had them put in an auto-start, but while I was there I talked myself into a new Alpine iLX-407 with Apple CarPlay and the works. I just wanted a modern head unit, nothing fancy, but for $450 you get so much nowadays. I then got on Crutchfield and ordered four Focal RCX-130 and swapped those factories out. It sounds so amazing in my truck now. But those Focals need some help, the road noise in that F350 is loud; I want to get a small amp, maybe an Alpine 50w per channel x 4, and install it myself. Maybe throw an active-sub under the seat. I'll do it all cheap tho, if I'm going to spend money, it'll be in my listening room. In regards to the Alpine iLX-407, it is so cool to start my truck from a distance and by the time I walk up to the truck and get in, it's paired my phone and it's playing whatever I was listening to when I got out. I swear, it's so refreshing. It has taken my 2008 and made it into a new truck!LOL! And the CarPlay! Look, I know where I'm going, but that map is so freaking nice. Qobuz integrates into a 2008 F350, who'd a thunk it?
I competed in the late 80's and Early 90's. I have a bunch of old school car audio! I am a huge linear power fan! I still install to this day and will be 57 soon!!!!!
OMG my son in the late 90's had a Honda CX hatchback and I think he had 4,000 watts!! 4 huge woofers I was in it once and I'm sure it rearranged my internal organs 😅

Tidal is lossy. Trash. Amazon has better streaming bitrate. Apple streaming is the only true lossless streaming service available.
I do not agree with your opinion via Tidal.Cannot speak on the other services as never used them.
