This channel exists to document unit counters within StarCraft 2. Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen from Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a coop commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units will independently use their abilities, in a basic way. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 esports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN. The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy!

The battle between the Reavers and the Reavers was epic. Both sides were probably yelling: FINALLY a worthy opponent, our battle shall be legendary and transcend history
And then the scarab throwing reavers proceed to a shortage of scarab and are pathetically waiting to be slaughtered... not as legendary as the start of the battle :)

Surprisingly, this gameplay suits SC2 lore with utter precision. The only person who outsmarted and defeated Amon was Zeratul.

Ehh, not really. Zeratul learned of an ancient prophecy, which led to him telling Jim not to kill Kerrigan, and then sacrifice himself to let artanis, the only one capable of leading the dealam, not fsll under amons grasp. He himself wasn't able to really outsmart Amon, he only had Hope and a prophecy, and cannonically he lost super hard to Amon when he was actually fighting him.
The person who did cannonically defeat Amon was really Artanis, because that is in fact the plot of legacy of the void. The epilogue does not exist.

To be fair in the first three, the cost weight was so so so heavily favoured for the hybrid each time that the fights being as close as they were is kind of hilarious.
shows how "superior" Amons perfect lifeforms truly are :P

The vanguards vs behemoths fight was rather close despite the behemoths side having triple the combat rating (about 50000-150000)
Combat rating is kinda Tya's own metric for an army's strength since not every unit has a mineral/gas value like the hybrids, that you can compare to.
@@VentusTheSox That and a lot of campaign/co-op units have absurd bang for their buck that raw minerials and gas aren't the best metric. Example such as a fire colossus versus a regular one; same price, but one is *much* stronger than the other.
This video actually brings up an interesting point about the StarCraft universe, what’s so scary about giant powerful hybrid if most factions and races could build machines that rival their power like a battle cruiser
That is arguably what's scary about them. That 1 creature can rival a massive ship thousands of miles long with thousands of crew. Wish the campaigns used them better.
@@SaulGoodman3D2049 haha actually fair point, too bad those giant machines are pretty common with that basically being what the whole Protoss war machine is made of
It should be noted, hybrid are actually tiny. Reavers, destroyers, and even dominatorz don't stand much taller than your average protoss. Hybrid behemoths are very large, but they are still way smaller than an ultralisk. The flying hybrid are only about guardian size.
In comparison, they are fighting Mobile factories firing giant explosives powered by a mineral thats energy rivals that of a star, purpose built war machines designed to spearhead talderim assaults, caring only for the destruction they can cause the enemy and naught for there own survival, the most advanced battlecruisers ever to grace the koprulu sector (not the largest, but far more advanced than any of there competitors) and some xel naga shite.
Oh, and they can be mass produced, thus swarming over the enemy almost as well as the zerg swarm, but with Psi storm and the like backing them up
@@Santisima_Trinidad Being very large but way smaller than an ultra is an oxymoron, an ultra is the size of a medium house. Being much smaller than that would just be large.
@@chaotixthefox the hybrids are smaller than a landed viking but can easily kill an ultra.
Got 4/4 on this one
- Figured that vanguards would get overwhelmed as their DPS would inevitably be unable to punch through the ridiculously high HP of behemoths
- Mengsk BCs usually fall off hard when they run out of yamatos, and dominators are tanky enough to withstand the yamatos and win out dps-wise
- Same as before. Protoss reavers fall off hard when they run out of scarabs, and hybrid reavers just have to hold out, which they did
- Figured Zera immortals had enough AoE to outlast the hybrid, and they did!
Good on the Immortals for ending the Hybrids' winning streak 😊
I haven't missed one of these since I discovered it many many months ago. It's a fun few minutes break from whatever.

The splash on those vanguards is crazy. And it appears hybrid reavers are weaker but in low numbers and with micro they are not
Ascendants would've been a fun match against Dominators (with Power-Overwhelming 10, of course).

"The Ultimate Weapon of the Final War" had to heavily outnumber their opponents in order to squeak out a few wins. Methinks Amon rushed them out a little too quickly.
The only problem with the Reaver battle is that there are so many variations of Hybrid Reavers across the three campaigns the battle outcomes would all be completely different. Say, the ones in In Utter Darkness two-shot every single ground unit bar the Thor, Ultralisk and Archon when fully upgraded.
If possible, I would love to see the regular SC2 units fight hybrid x3

Yay! Finally Zera's Immortals won a fight.
zera's immortals are super op. when I play him I build an army of immortals and sentries and just a-move across the map. no micro needed
My predictions:
- Vanguards (I knew they'd be able to put up a fight, though I expected them to last a little longer..?)
- Dominators (PoAs tend to be very Yamato happy and I'd bet that they'd start to get overwhelmed because of the charge times and comparatively middling normal attacks)
- Reavers (haha funny joke I meant Hybrid reavers since those guys from what I remember from the campaign were pretty beefy, so they'd just outlast the slugs to start reloading)
- Immortals (I don't like betting against immortals anymore :v realistically, I do think their shields would be able to outlast the air burst, and they do have aoe which helps a lot against air tending to clump up)

How the crap did Vanguards burst down an equal # of Hybrid Dominators. They have 5000 HP each and are at least the size of an Ultra pre nerf. There shouldn't BE any splash!!!! [Head exploding sound]

Too outnumbered by Hybtids. Like 10 or 20 more vanguards or BC and result would be different.
Also, BC can yamato and TP away, much further away, to recover CD, while the hybrids have weaker but shorter CD for their plasmid shot

As always, Mengsk's battlecruisers performs abysmally; once their Yamato runs out, they becomes the cannon fodder. Did they win ANY battle in the past?

If anything, this demonstrates that as powerful as the Hybrid are... are they really worth it? Sometimes I think Amon was just so obessed with himself that he made these things just as a symbol.

3/4 . Hybrids definietly lived up to beeing the umtimate weapon of the final war.
How hybrid behemoths work? What are their abilities?
Thousands of hp, aoe slow and life drain ability. Basically like the reavers, but with way more stats.
Consume DNA and Constricting Slime are its abilities. Consume DNA deals 250(iirc) damage and heals it for part of what it dealt in damage. Constricting Slime is fungal except like 12X the size, and centered around the hybrid behemoth, these abilities come from Hazrad, the Hybrid which you face in the secret mission in WOL.
This is what happens when you fail the last mission of the campaign.
No one ever said that the hybrid were weak, just that they were a bit unimaginative. They’re mostly just stats, kinda underwhelming for what they were hyped up to be.
Hybrids are expensive but really suck at cost efficiency

Zeratul's Immortals outnumbered 1:5 against hybrids. No worries. Those things are insane!
Those vanguards really are good, 150 behemoths could destroy almost any ground army.
These arent even campaign ones, they were heavily nerfed in coop to deal two times less damage. Absolutely savage units

I think it's dumb that the Reavers are required to "load" their shots before they can fire.
It is a carryover of Starcraft 1 mechanics, but they could've gotten rid of that and let the Reavers fire without a limiting factor. There are other high-damage high-ranged units like tanks and Wrathwalkers that can easily outclass the Reavers at what they're designed to do.
To be fair, P1 reavers, due to the prestige bonus, basically have reavers that don't run out of shots. P0 reavers still have this problem, though.
My biggest annoyance is that Alarak’s P1 allows the Wrathwalker to get 4x its base DPS, while P1 Artanis simply allows Reavers to work without this bothersome handicap.
Dominators are awesome units. They shoot Ka-me-ha-me-ha, right?
