Mass Effect was always awesome with their cinematics, "LOOK AT THESE LENS FLARES" was almost a running gag at the time and a lot of YT-creators back then got inspired by Biowares' style. Nice video! It's nice to rediscover these franchises through this channel haha.
@@kaizammit Can I recommend you to take a look at the Halo 4 Spartan Ops CGI cutscenes? its a collection of cutscenes from the side story of Halo 4 where are other Spartans that you normally didnt seen in the main Halo 4 storyline, it has a pretty good quality and action. The reapers (big black alien ships) have always been a contender for my favorite alien race. Slowly figuring them out from games 1-3 was super cool. Not to mention their sound design. The "Reaper Horn" is the most incredible sound effect from any game I've played.
yes, the weapon grunt is using is a shotgun it is called the M-300 claymore shotgun and it hits so hard the kick back can dislocate shoulders every species except the krogan.
I think that Mass Effect 3 one is several trailers stitched together. Anyway, love Mass Effect. It's not a cinematic pre-rendered trailer or anything, but the launch trailer for Mass Effect 2 is one of my all-time favourite game trailers.
I remember seeing the trailer for ME3, it was the cut with only the dude in big ben. There was really nothing that gave away it was mass effect. Up until they zoomed out and I saw the reapers. As someone who had been waiting years for the third game you can probably guess my reaction
I always like it when he gets so animated AND correct about elements in the vids. His breakdown of the lighting of the "Illusive Man" and the noir elements was spot on! lol
Alright, I'll take a look at them. If this video gets a certain amount of likes I'll know you want more of it. Thank you for letting me know though. Kai
@@kaizammit totally understand. Mass Effect has a really strong following, despite the flop that was Andromeda. I’m sure people will enjoy your analysis as much as I did.
YES KAI, I LOVE mass effect. IM SO EXCITED to watch this video! The Reapers were such great antagonists during the trilogy. The Sovereign speech still manages to give me goosebumps. If you haven't heard it i suggest watching a 3 minute video that is simply named "Mass Effect - Reapers".

in my opinion, the Mass Effect trilogy is one of the best trilogies in ANY medium. if you wanna play them, the Legendary Edition which is all 3 games and all their DLC's is currently £8.99 on Xbox.
Aye thanks for following up with my suggestion. If you're into space operas then I think you'd love these games and great video as always! P.s: @18:20 that woman you're talking about was genetically altered to be perfect in every way so she "naturally" looks beautiful. Love these games as it's one of the only series where you can import the character with their choices from the previous games impact the next game which can drastically change certain outcomes. Such a fantastic game with fantastic characters.
I'm surprised that we jumped from the first game's teaser trailer, to the cinematic trailer for number 2, but I don't think the first game had much marketing budget behind it, so we didn't get much of anything there. Lol you know when miracle of sound comes in that things are getting epic. Also; Grunt's (The Krogan that was fighting the giant worm, which is called a thresher maw) shotgun is called the M-300 Claymore. I think most of the shotguns in the game were named after different kinds of swords and yes, the Claymore is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, up close that is. I think the description in Mass effect 2 was that the kick from the gun was strong enough to break a person's arm, which is why only Krogan and Cybernetically enhanced people can use it in the game. (Shephard is Cybernetically enhanced in the second one) Additionally, "Tuchunka" is the Krogan home planet, which is mostly a wasteland because the Krogan were "uplifted" by other, more technologically advanced races, while they were still in a tribal stage of their racial evolution and they ended up killing each other with the technology they were given.
Mass Effect 2 is in a lot of people's best games of all time list. A large cast of companions that are all very well written and have depth for the most part. A more mysterious and darker tone than the first game. Probably one of the best opening game scenes ever that is both a surprise and fits perfectly. The Illusive man (who you saw in the trailer) is a great "are they an ally or enemy" character. It's just a perfect combination of so many great elements.
funny thing is that there was a talk about Mass Effect series done by Amazon a while back. Also Bioware (creator of the game) released animated movie with main character being one of the characters of the 3rd game but the events of the animated movie take place during the 2nd game. There is also comics out that extend the Mass Effect universe and its characters. There is ALOT that can be used as a base for a movie or tv series. From the First Contact war through the Human - Batarian conflict, Morning war to adventures of cpt. Anderson I know these events and names probably means nothing to someone who havent played the game but those are all stories we hear about through the game but since all of them happened decades and centuries before the game events its never fully explored in the game
I LOVE Mass Effect. All the grandeur and recognition of Halo, tinged with bits of 40k and with an ensemble cast of assorted- and very well-written, compelling and complex- badasses throughout the games rather than a focus on just Chief. Haha awesome you spotted the noir vibes of the second game. Honestly, between the music and some of the investigation segments, the first game has a lot of mystery and discovery too. The music is a HUGE plus for this series! The lore in this game is also insane, and it's narrated if you want to simply scroll through the journal and take in the vast amounts of codex and journal entries between the three games. For instance, it's mentioned in the Codex entry for that shotgun the big alien dude was using, and it mentions that it produces so much recoil that most humanoids can't use it without risking tearing their shoulder out of it's socket.
That trailer for the first game was shown at one of the game conventions and it was short because they had to show dozens of games for the Xbox 360 in a short time. If Grunt had been called Sunny in the game as a nickname, I'd have probably used him more. 😁
Yes my common as hell mouth has a certain way with words. As I see it, I say what I see! Haha. Thank you so much for watching and letting me know. It means a lot!
Great video! I second the suggestion you should play the games (should do all 3, they tell a cohesive story where your choices in one game will affect things in the later ones) either on or off camera. Also your shirt inspired this suggestion: I think you would enjoy analyzing the trailers for the games "Transformers: War for Cybertron" and "Transformers: Fall of Cybertron" (maybe some gameplay as well, in particular FoC is an incredibly cinematic game)
Is that the movie with guns, it's like the first version of gun-fu? If it's the film I'm thinking about, I've not seen it in donkey years. I actually can't even remember a scene... 🤔 Might have to rewatch it!
@@kaizammit Yes that is the gun-fu film, my guess, one of the developers like Bale's movies, seeming how you saw Batman in Thane's fighting style as well.
Hey mate great video again ! I would love to see you breakdown Aliens 1986. Be it on your patreon only or youtube ! You'll have so much to teach us on this classic !
Ah, Mass Effect. one of my all time favorite games.. One of the only games where it felt like a genuine friendship between the characters, Garrus and Sheppart in particular.. All the interactions between the characters felt organic..
Omg kai I've never clicked on a video so fast on my life. Mass effect is one of my all time favorite games of all time. Don't suppose there are any plans to watch a few certain cutscenes from the game itself? In 3 there are a few that are shot so beautifully and the music work so good for them. As always, great videos and thanks so much 😊
I've not thought about it tbh, I've heard these games are huge so doing a reaction on all cutscenes might be a little too much to take on. I'm always happy to hear viewers thoughts so if you think there are some I should check out, please let me know. Question is, will I understand what's going on in them? Also, thank you so much for watching the video, I hope you enjoyed it.
@@kaizammit Well in my opinion, I believe 2 cutscenes from the 3rd game are some of the most well done cutscenes in gaming despite its age. The first ties in with what you saw in the trailers for the 3rd game, the second is the penultimate conflict and is just a jaw dropping moment. (and my favorite cutscene of any game) Even if your don't make a video, I can't reccomended seeing those two cutscenes in particular enough, "Escape from Earth" and "The fleets arrive".
omg I found you when you reacted halo, but StarCraft, mass effect, overwatch, you’re covering all of my favorite games growing up!! I didn’t notice I wasn’t subscribed but now I am, thanks for the reactions!!
Thank you so much for the sub and welcome to the community! I plan on covering or at least recording all the Overwatch cinematics next month. I've got some time off from work. Stay tuned!
Just found your channel today and I'm hoping that over the last nine months you took time to actually play this masterpiece. The pitch: At the time it was made I think it was the first time a dev decided they were going to use movie-style techniques on a video game and what came out was maybe the best sci-fi cinematic experience ever, from my opinion. Should also note that they republished recently as a Legendary edition where they uptextured and added modern lighting techniques, even reframed a few in-engine shots during conversations and such. If you only play the first 10ish minutes of each game in the bundle, or even watch a streamer's recording of it, youll get a good sense of the technique, and it wont spoil anything that the trailers didn't already.
I absolutely love this video,as i am making my first youtube vid regarding this beautiful trilogy.I am also watching this vid with the biggest smile on my face too.
If you like these, please, you have to play the openings to Mass effect 2 and 3. Mass effect's 3 opening is the best in gaming history, imo. It would be very nice to see a video of yours about that!
I've played through Mass Efect 1, 2, and 3 a total of 6 times...and I've never seen these trailers. There are many powerful cutscenes throughout the franchise, I hope you check them out for the channel. For instance, the space battle at the end of the 3rd game (when you get the good ending) is incredible.
Such good games. ME2 is like my second favourite game ever and seeing these trailers makes me want to play them again! The big alien guy is called Grunt, which you'll probably agree is a much more apt name for him (you can actually see his name mirrored on the screen check 25:19). Tuchanka is a homeworld for his race, so when he says Sunny Tuchanka he's talking about the planet. Can't wait to tell people I learnt a new camera technique called the "whip fuck" (33:35 🤣)
Still recommend reacting to the Anthem:Conviction trailer by Neill Blomkamp. Just an amazing trailer that I wish they made a full series of. Every shot with the Javelin suits is just amazing looking.
I enjoyed all the tidbits in this vid, I've never seen you have so much to analyse for a trailer & these had a lot more depth for you to analyse than I thought they would :P. Also I feel like you need two mic's on deck for how often they like to fuck you over I love ME but watching these I realised I never actually watched many of the trailers because some of them are a little lower quality, but the other ones are really high quality & they go for photorealistic graphics & a filmmaking style that are a bit misleading of the games because they weren't able to achieve it due to the tech and the time constraints Bioware had back then lmao. I knew you'd like ME2 the best and i'm at the bit where you're analysing it and it just looks so much better than the game does lol Funny thing is the ME trailers now that i've seen them don't do much to show off the characters, the soundtrack or the iconic sound effects of the game. I was baffled when they didn't integrate the Reaper BWAHHH for ME3
I'd love to see you react to the Dawn of War cinematics! They're a series of Warhammer games that have some pretty highly regarded opening cinematics. And they still hold up today too, which is cool considering they're almost 20 years old now. You seem to like other Warhammer and sci-fi cinematics so it would be cool to see you react to these. Would also love to see you react to the Metro Exodus game opening cinematic and Artyom's Nightmare advert. Really cinematic and emotional. Love the content!
I never saw the Mass Effect 1 and 2 trailers they seem to make the game different. Shepard doesn't even sound like he does in the ME1 trailer. I remember the Mass Effect 3 one though because it was the first time they showed female Shepard in a trailer. IE they made 2 trailers for the different Shepards which I think was awesome.
I know sittingbourne! I used to live near Bluewater Shopping centre so would have family days out to Sittingbourne. I live at the very bottom of the Country, Eastbourne area.
I drive through Maidstone all the time, traffic always pisses me off haha! British moaning, got too love it. I'm glad you're enjoying the content fella! Give you a secret heads up, I've got a month almost off work in May so expect a lot of content coming through. Anything you'd be interested seeing on the channel and I can double check my list?
Man you fullfilled my wish with Mass Effect... love how you brake it down... now i recomend "This is EVE" should be very interesting for you caus its gameplay footage and player voices.... would love to see your reaktion
Ah, my favourite gaming trilogy of all time. So many great memories of these games. Might I ask (and feel free to tell me to piss off), is your surname Maltese? I had a Maltese teacher in my teens with that name.
Yup, that is a Shot Gun. If this were Mass Effect 1, I'd say he applied the "High Caliber Barrel" and the highest level of "High Explosive Rounds" so that the gun over heats after only one shot... But damn! It packs a real punch!!
Would love to actually see you react to the gameplay of the ME games like you did with batman origins (and I assume you will with the other Arkham games). Though make sure to look at the "Legendary Edition". Since it was made to bring all 3 games to roughly the same visual fidelity, etc, etc.
Favourite sci-fi series universe behind halo because nostalgia, only played the ME series in 2022 and I played andromeda ages ago before ME 1, 2, and 3 and fuck me the absolute sheer emotions and feelings I got was literally unparallelled for me in the trilogy, Dragon age is a close second but it is easily hands down a must play series.
You like watching sci-fi? How about LIVING sci-fi? This trilogy is wonderfully immersive. The character development is incredible and well worth playing.
YESSSSSS ME is in my top 3 best franchises ever .... played them all incl dlc's back when and did it all again when Legendary edit came out... You can fight like a Krogan , run like a leopard, but you' ll never be better than commander Shepard.. TIM ( the illusive man ) you see in the start of the 2nd trailer is voiced by Martin Sheen and Miranda who stood besiders him is Yvonne Strahovsky..
If you loved doing the ODST playthrough, I think the Mass Effect series is something you would really enjoy playing through for the story and characters
Wouldn't this game or games should I say take me like a year to get through? You've just reminded me that I've still not finished capturing my playthrough.
@@kaizammit I wouldn't say that long. Depends on the schedule you have. Even if it's not something you do for Streams, the story is great. First game can be about 20-30 hours and the other two are fairly close
You've reminded me that I must set a shop up so you can. If you'd like one, I can have one made. I will send it to you personally. Please email me, you can find it in the description box at the bottom. Thank you again fella for being here.
I plan on making a video next month where I cover all the Overwatch cinematics in one video. Cinematic Breakdowns will come later. Most likely be all Overwatch 1 cinematics. Kiriko is for Overwatch 2 right?
@@kaizammit yes Kirko is Overwatch 2. Zero Hour is the announcement for Overwatch 2 (within the time frame of Overwatch 1, but only because Overwatch 2 came 3 years late XD)
The humans blink their eyes . Shepard blinks . Miranda attempts to blink . Legion attempts to blink . I know this was based on trailers . It is way better in game ! And almost exactly like the trailers !!
so for Grunt, the one fighting the big worm, that IS a shotgun...only its a shotgun made specifically for his species, the Krogan, and is like 100x more powerful than a human shot gun. If a human fired that gun both their arms would essecially be ripped off their body. Its basically a missle firing shotgun.
very cool reaction mass effect are my fave game if you havn't checked out the voice actors they got for these games you should it's insane the people they got
Very nice breakdown! BTW: If you play computer games at all, do yourself a favor and pick up the Mass Effect Trilogy Legendary Edition. Yes, it's a bit older, but it's one of the best games ever made and having a ton of very good cool in game cinematic scenes throughout. You could teach a whole course just based on what's in there.
Ooooooh so excited !! There's so many in games cutscences/cinematics I wish you'd look at. Espeically ME2 Suicide Mission and ME3 Leaving Earth .. But let's be real, I'd love your reaction on all aspects of this trilogy xD I'd also love your reaction on the ME4 (or 5 depending on who you ask) :) Best games ever IMO

The extended cut for ME3 seems to be about 10 different trailers cut together.

Coming up... eventually.
the mass effect series is based on the cycle of extinction involving a race of machines far advanced than anything came after
Hey Kai love your work. Thane's introduction reminds me of Christian Bale in Equilibrium.
Aliens is one of my favourite films so I couldn't really "react" to it but I could explain a lot of what they did through cinematography.
(and my favorite cutscene of any game)
Even if your don't make a video, I can't reccomended seeing those two cutscenes in particular enough, "Escape from Earth" and "The fleets arrive".
You haven't the the best trailer yet: The fan made "Mass Effect Galaxy Map Music - Epic Dubstep Remix"
Mass Effect is, in my humble opinion, the best story driven game of all time.
omg I found you when you reacted halo, but StarCraft, mass effect, overwatch, you’re covering all of my favorite games growing up!! I didn’t notice I wasn’t subscribed but now I am, thanks for the reactions!!
Thank you so much for the sub and welcome to the community! I plan on covering or at least recording all the Overwatch cinematics next month. I've got some time off from work. Stay tuned!
Love these reactions your doing for these games from my teens :D
YEAAAAH MASS EFFECT CONTENT 🔥🔥🔥
That's what you asked for :D, I hope you enjoy!
I absolutely love this video,as i am making my first youtube vid regarding this beautiful trilogy.I am also watching this vid with the biggest smile on my face too.
Best of luck! Enjoy the fun of making TH-cam content.
there is a masseffect animated movie that takes place during the second game, might be worth taking a look at
maybe I missed it, but yeah, the second sequence after Thane is Jack. She is a human female biotic.
If you like these, please, you have to play the openings to Mass effect 2 and 3. Mass effect's 3 opening is the best in gaming history, imo. It would be very nice to see a video of yours about that!
I forgot about these! Really reminds me of the hype!
What is your favourite one? ;-)
@@jynx0riZ0r It was recently dethroned by BG3 :)
Still recommend reacting to the Anthem:Conviction trailer by Neill Blomkamp. Just an amazing trailer that I wish they made a full series of. Every shot with the Javelin suits is just amazing looking.
Big up the boys!
God I love this channel
Yes bro, my favourite game series. Can’t wait to hear your opinion
I hope I didn't disappoint!?
@@kaizammit You should play through them if you get the chance 👌
I enjoyed all the tidbits in this vid, I've never seen you have so much to analyse for a trailer & these had a lot more depth for you to analyse than I thought they would :P. Also I feel like you need two mic's on deck for how often they like to fuck you over
I love ME but watching these I realised I never actually watched many of the trailers because some of them are a little lower quality, but the other ones are really high quality & they go for photorealistic graphics & a filmmaking style that are a bit misleading of the games because they weren't able to achieve it due to the tech and the time constraints Bioware had back then lmao. I knew you'd like ME2 the best and i'm at the bit where you're analysing it and it just looks so much better than the game does lol
Funny thing is the ME trailers now that i've seen them don't do much to show off the characters, the soundtrack or the iconic sound effects of the game. I was baffled when they didn't integrate the Reaper BWAHHH for ME3
Mass Effect is an incredible series.
Man, I'd love to see if he likes the in game action sequences like the Suicide Mission in ME2 and the Fleets Arrive in ME3
I'd love to see you react to the Dawn of War cinematics!
Dawn of War is coming next month! I've had it planned for a while.
Haha..loved your ad read!
You're probably the only one that's seen it!
Another great choice good sir! where bouts in the south are you I live in Sittingbourne 🤓
I know sittingbourne! I used to live near Bluewater Shopping centre so would have family days out to Sittingbourne. I live at the very bottom of the Country, Eastbourne area.
@@kaizammit that’s crazy! I used to live in Maidstone, really enjoying your content man and as a big film fan! 🙏
@@kaizammitI recommend the Brewer's Arms in Lewes - owned by mum's old college friend
Yes fella, my surname is maltese, hi!
@@kaizammit Love the country, but TOTALLY unable to accurately pronounce the place names. Cheers for the answer.
Me too, you're not the only one.
Yup, that is a Shot Gun. If this were Mass Effect 1, I'd say he applied the "High Caliber Barrel" and the highest level of "High Explosive Rounds" so that the gun over heats after only one shot... But damn! It packs a real punch!!
Lover tour reaction as always. Please do one for the attack of the saints trailer for hitman absolution. Still my favorite trailer ever
Love you man sincerely a fellow dude lol.
I completly forgot ME has trailers^^
Would love to actually see you react to the gameplay of the ME games like you did with batman origins (and I assume you will with the other Arkham games).
Though make sure to look at the "Legendary Edition". Since it was made to bring all 3 games to roughly the same visual fidelity, etc, etc.
Would be a very long video if I covered ME.
Mass Effect has some of the best "Epic" videos in gaming!
I’m playing through them now currently playing mass effect 3 👍
Hope you're having a blast my friend!?
@@kaizammit yeah it’s fun 👍
outfits go so hard in every video
If you loved doing the ODST playthrough, I think the Mass Effect series is something you would really enjoy playing through for the story and characters
Wouldn't this game or games should I say take me like a year to get through? You've just reminded me that I've still not finished capturing my playthrough.
@@kaizammit I wouldn't say that long. Depends on the schedule you have. Even if it's not something you do for Streams, the story is great. First game can be about 20-30 hours and the other two are fairly close
I've got to get me one of those shirts.
You've reminded me that I must set a shop up so you can. If you'd like one, I can have one made. I will send it to you personally. Please email me, you can find it in the description box at the bottom. Thank you again fella for being here.
Id love to see you react to some more Overwatch cinematics tbh. The best ones you havent reacted to yet (imo) are Zero Hour and Kiriko
Should do the in-game cutscenes as well.
I've just read this, soon maybe...
@@kaizammit Here's hoping, mate. The cutscenes for ME2 and ME3 are 👌
The humans blink their eyes . Shepard blinks . Miranda attempts to blink . Legion attempts to blink .
I know this was based on trailers . It is way better in game ! And almost exactly like the trailers !!
Kai , do you play these games before you comment ?
I know one game that has this .
Before I react to them do you mean? No I don't, sometimes I'll play them for a bit afterwards. KZ
My all time favorite game series. I still play to this day.
Must be good then.
@@kaizammit I would give it the award for best video game series of all time.
so for Grunt, the one fighting the big worm, that IS a shotgun...only its a shotgun made specifically for his species, the Krogan, and is like 100x more powerful than a human shot gun. If a human fired that gun both their arms would essecially be ripped off their body. Its basically a missle firing shotgun.
Off topic but a suggestion for a breakdown of power rangers short film by joseph kahn would be cool if you haven’t seen it.
Top 1 game series
Thank you fella for checking out the video, I appreciate it.
Aww Awesome! This is such a good game series.
very cool reaction mass effect are my fave game if you havn't checked out the voice actors they got for these games you should it's insane the people they got
(Obligatory "We'll bang, okay?" joke)
Very nice breakdown!
BTW: If you play computer games at all, do yourself a favor and pick up the Mass Effect Trilogy Legendary Edition. Yes, it's a bit older, but it's one of the best games ever made and having a ton of very good cool in game cinematic scenes throughout. You could teach a whole course just based on what's in there.
Anyone ever told you; you look like Henry from Kingdom Come Deliverance lol
Only 3 trailers? You could add Andromeda to that compilation.
Will you be reacting to the whole Mass Effect trilogy?
Will you react to titanfall 2 cinematics?
Ooooooh so excited !! There's so many in games cutscences/cinematics I wish you'd look at. Espeically ME2 Suicide Mission and ME3 Leaving Earth .. But let's be real, I'd love your reaction on all aspects of this trilogy xD I'd also love your reaction on the ME4 (or 5 depending on who you ask) :) Best games ever IMO
Do react to Mass Effect cinematics. You won't be disappointed
