I was pregnant with my first child when this game came out. I remember playing this for hours while I wasn't allowed to get up and move around. My daughter will be 24 in October and her son will be 2 in July. She also plays the sims, it's kind of a family tradition. I love the Sims and all the memories.

Kids disappearing for military also applies to when 2 Sims (who hate each other) end up in huge gray cloud fight: one will permamently leave & disappear from the game
Fun fact! Claire Ursine in sims 3 is based on Claire the bear in sims 1! Her last name means “bear”, she loves to fish like bears, she wears brown and her favourite colour is spice brown and she works as a thief (like how Claire the bear would rummage through your garbage!!)

1) Claire the Bear will also show up sometimes even if you don’t have the beehive on your lot, just a bit less often. She’ll raid the trash can instead and she doesn’t enjoy it.
2) Montezuma’s Revenge is also nicknamed Poopy Pants for its animation. I think this sickness can also be a big glitch in the game sometimes.
3) Andy Warhol sometimes makes an appearance in Studio Town as the photographer for the photo shoot.
4) Unlike in later sims games, pets in Sims 1 can die from hunger

If you have the giant teddy bear on the lot, when Claire the bear show up she'll look fondly at him and not mess with your trash bin.

imagine if horror music started playing once claire the bear saw the bear rug. 😂
The devs loved that jumpscare sound effect, so them using it for Claire the Bear wouldn’t even be too out of character 😭
@@crazymarq4390 yeah and I think it would fit in really well for that part of the game, since it's Claire seeing a bear rug that could be someone she once knew at some point 😬
Not sure you've ever shown it already but parents will autonomously tuck in their sleeping child - but you can't direct them to do it. I think it has something to do with the file coding on certain beds because I recall some cc beds being advertised back in the day as "tuck in enabled" as a lure to have it in your game.
Also, I'd love to see attention brought to 2 specific spells in Makin' Magic - Age of Instant and A Friend Indeed; Sims 1 was wild, lol.
Apparently it was discovered that Mrs. Crumplebottom has the skinny male body - something about streaking or hot tub revealed this. I never looked into it just found it amusing, at the time.
This vid has given me the headcanon that Sims 2 General Buzz Grunt was sent to military school in Sims 1 and he's been grouchy ever since, lol. No wonder he's so hard on his sons. So thanks for that.

Still my favourite in the series. Probably the only one that manages all of it's expansions well concurrently.

Man I remember playing The Sims with my cousins on the old pc and never even knowing about expansion packs let alone cc. Then when Sims 2 came around I remember having my mind blown. Looking back it’s crazy there’s a part of the Sims that I never got to experience. Maybe I’ll download all the sims and all the packs to finally experience them.☺️
Oh yeah I can only imagine how huge the jump from sims 1 to sims 2 was!

Every staircase can catch on fire and subsequently spread to other tiles on the second floor of buildings. Rather chaotic :O
This game really has no chill lmao, love me some sims chaos tho so i’m not complaining 🤭
can't wait for the dramatic scene and music when you do another on this videos on TS1. The end result can be a house with both floors burnt and no Sims surviving (e.g. sleeping and wake up and then trapped). @@crazymarq4390
Apparently according to the sims wiki lights can break in the Sims 1 which sims can get electrocuted if they replace the bulb with a low mechanical skill. Only if EA releases this game on Origin, Steam or GOG and I can try and test that theory myself. Since lights however cannot get broken at all in the Sims 2, Sims 3 nor Sims 4 no matter how many times you turn them on or off unless it’s a blackout but that only affects all electrical objects and blackouts only appear in both the Sims 2 (Cut Content) and the Sims 4.
I’m pretty sure this feature was actually removed with a later EP :( I also believe Sims were supposed to be able to turn on most lamps but at some point they removed that too so now only like one can be manually turned on and off
Already 24 years? omg! I only had The Sims 1 on PS2 so I never played it on PC, so this is the first time I'm seeing some details the bear for example was so cute and interesting, never saw that detail before. Great video once again! :)

Outdoor plants, too. I remember having to remove landscaping from my posh house because the gardener couldn't water everything in an entire day.
Yea. I remember that I had a vision to cover almost the entire lot in flowers. It looked good for maybe a day, but then I had to watch all the flowers wither because it was taking too long to water them. Hahaha... 😅

That is the papergirl whistling sound. Odd that it seems to be happening in the middle of the night, though? Did you start the experiment earlier, or change the time? It might be a residual sound. Interesting and mysterious, gotta love the OG The Sims❣🙃👏
It definitely sounds like her but she wasn’t around (and there were no other Sims nearby either). At first i thought maybe my Sim was whistling while repairing the object but it kept going even after the interaction had ended. I didn’t use any cheats or mods, so I can only assume it’s a glitch?
@@crazymarq4390 I think that is likely the reasoning. If I remember correctly, I kept having the burglar sound over and over (caught in a loop), perhaps because I saved prior to its event? All I know, 13 year old me was really creeped out by that, back then.
Sound bites, as well as animations do glitch, loop or reoccur in all the mainline (and spinoff) games. Sims 2 Pets (spinoff) has the death loop, Sims 2 has vampires glitching and showing up at community lots during the day, if you save right after (or sometimes prior to) changing ingame clock, Sims 3 has the sneak action (normally when a teen is out past curfew), that continues throughout their life without mods or resetting (using cheats), Sims 4 is likely the worst culprit, because the entire queue goes out of whack, if you make any changes (build/buy mode), when sims have actions in their queue.
At least, you got a whistling loop, but I can see that it probably got annoying for you?

Can’t believe it’s been 24 years since The Sims 1 got released! I’ve been playing it since 2002 when I was 12, I’m 33 now. The Sims 1-3 was the best TS4 not as good, there is one detail in TS1 I miss from the other Sims games and it was watering the house plants they need to bring that feature back in TS5 and other previous stuff from the older Sims games 🎮😎

This is a wonderful way to celebrate the birthday of The Sims. As the franchise continues I have noticed the chaos has lessened so much that sims don’t do anything unexpected in the latest game. I think the technology has evolved but the charm has been lost. ❤
This is a fair observation. Sims 4 isn’t a bad game imo but it certainly lacks a bit of charm of the older games

Great video! I only discovered and played The Sims on my best friend’s older sister’s gaming pc for about a month before sims 2 came out (I say played- we mostly watched while she played as we were kids and she didn’t want us messaging her game up) safe to say it was enough to get me hooked, Sims 2 for life for me though, 3 and 4 will never match up :)

I remember a spell that if it went wrong a lot of frogs will appear on the lot, the interesting thing is that if a sim kissed one of those frogs it could turn into a human prince. I remember that the prince was a frog that was thinking a heart (bubble though)

I started playing Sims 1 when it first came out- the only expansions I never got to play were Superstar and Makin Magic so it’s interesting to see items from those expansions.
Those two are arguably the most iconic packs too haha, I absolutely loved Makin’ Magic and especially Superstar, top tier expansions 😮💨
I wonder, does sim's ghost show up on a lot in case of that skydiving simulator demise?
