The most terrifying experience in sims games is when woohoo cutscene starts and parents are nearby and you're hoping they won't see or hear anything. I'm 26 now and still have this fear.
My mom let me play sims when I was only 4 years old but she told me to never select the "Try for baby", but said absolutely NOTHING about the WOOHOO button!!!😀
When i was younger i'd lower the volume at night, in case the burglar showed up. But sadly the game uses the same sound for the raccoon, getting fired etc. so you're never really safe haha
8:37 when I was a kid, I was awful at taking care of my sims, and they would always die. Our family computer was in the basement and I would often play lat at night. every single time that damned Sims 2 grim reaper came on screan, I RAN to up those stair like Usain Bolt to my room
SAME! I played very early in the morning one time (I think I was 7?), it was winter so still dark out until like 8-9 in the morning. Silly old me wanted to play the Specter household, not knowing Olive would die very soon after starting the household. Old Grim showed up, I screamed, cried, shut off the computer and ran back to my bed. I was terrified of the dark and the Sims for months after that.
Yeah, Sims 4 kind of took away the scary/risky aspects. No burglars, house fires are very rare, ghosts are your besties (as opposed to the Sims 2 where your Sims didn't notice ghosts unless they scared the crap out of them), no repo man, your Sims are kind of hard to really displease, aspirations are more gameplay grinding and can't lead to aspiration failure, etc. I kind of miss that.

I liked it in 3 the best bc they were scary but if you beefed your Sim up you could beat them up. Nice reward for your work. 4 the aim usually seems to be not "inconveniencing" or spooking even the laziest of players
Sims 4: social bunny is just some social media app that can be used as a faster way to increase relationships. Sims 2: could literally pass as a serial killer or a child abductor.
The meteor strikes in The Sims 3 are just something else. I remember being a teen and playing the game with a brand new family with 2 children. I sent them on their first day of school and OF COURSE the meteor would strike that place right then. It was really creepy to see ALL of the children and teenagers coming out of the building (as the school is a rabbit hole) only to walk away a little bit and start the death animation. It took hours of the in-game time for them all to come out and die on the street. Probably one of the weirdest things I ever experienced in these games, and I had played all of them that were available on PC, including Stories and Medieval.
Oh wow I've never had any of my Sims die from it in game, it only happened once but no one died, I just got a pop-up that showed where it landed and I could go collect it lol.

Something I found quite unnerving is the death where you die from being eaten by flies. I cant remember if its in the sims 2 or 3, but that death always scared me

The Sims 1's death animations are actually unsettling as hell compared to the cartoony later games starting with 2 1's deaths where pretty graphic complete with horrifying and almost painful and gut wrenching screams this is especially when compared to The Sims 2 3 and 4 where its a lot lighter cartoony and even humorous

I had one of my greatest households in the House of the Fallen Trees. I had a vampire, a zombie, witches and plant sims joining the house together. The story line was that they started a share house for paranormal minorities. I attempted to create a werewolf too, but it was hard. They all even bought a vacation house together at the Twikii Islands and travelled as a group.
Sims 3's atmosphere and Open world felt scary to me when I was younger, especially in worlds like Twinbrook since it's isolated and has a lot of mysteries.
I must say, this deliberately absurdly creepy vibe of the video makes it really fun to watch from the very start. Thanks a lot for heartwarming experience!

We were built different, I guess 😂 The starvation death was also terrifying! We only had the game in English (not my first language), so 4 year old me had no idea what was going on most of the time. My Sims 1 kids were almost always sent to military school and my dumbass thought they had just grown up and moved out 🤣

I think the scariest (or most hilarious) thing about the meteor is that they can hit buildings, and if a school happens to be hit by a meteor, all the children in the neighborhood will die because they aren't allowed to exit the building before it hits.
Wow I've been the biggest Sims 1 fan since it came out and never even knew about the upside down face bug when an infant would turn into a child! So weird & creepy

Sims 1 has the scaries sounds. When sims are on fire. The screams sounds too real, specially the kids and it scared me alot when i was a kid (To the point of me putting fire alarms on every inch of wall that i could find)
The only ways to make deaths preventable in the sims 3 is the death toggle cheat or to pre-make the sim as a ghost, or make that sim a hybrid life state that is half alive and half dead.

In the Sims 2 Pets expansion, I realized that the little womrat is the most desperately unhappy little guy there ever was. He spends his entire life trying to climb the slippery walls of his cage, and the expression on his tiny face is heartbreaking. I can't own one without being consumed with guilt and feeling like a monster.
I always find the Sims 3 grim reaper outfits most trippy. I never liked the social bunnies or the early visits from a school mascot in The Sims 3. My favorite sim make up is the one that looks like an evil Carnival Mask

You do realize that the Exterminator van looks very similar to the one that was featured in MIB 1, right? the only differences is that the one in the MIB film was a different color and the roach was not on its back with a white flower.
I would add screams of sims in The Sims 1 when they Åre dying because of hunger and music in The Sims 3 when The Grim Reaper appears (also when a Sim dies).
5:48 As someone who's played the Dreamer household recently because I was trying to extend their ancestral and descendent family tree (along with all the other families in Pleasantview), that repo man is a special kind of evil. He took that man's livelihood. That easel is how he's supposed to eat, if you are following Dreamer's "dream" of using his artistic talent to pay the bills. XD
If you buy a house in magic town in TS1 the house at night will get super creepy. Sometimes you can see the Grimm Reaper walking by as an NPC, happens rarely though..haven't discovered any other special interractions with it.
In the sims 3 university if you stand against death the grim reaper will come and kill you for a few seconds, then he'll bring you back but told us to be careful😭

While The sims 4 has pratically removed all creepy stuff (re-introduced the repo man toh,still creepy smile,at least that) ,gotta admit there is a thing that scares the hell outta of me of that game: the dead by rabbit\chicken ghost,that eerie ghostly sounds whenever that specific ghost is nearby,with that floating head inside your body,to be fair is a decent scary thing for how "cutesy" the game has been. Ah and the "Possessed"emotion,that is nightmare fuel given how it looks on cartoony sims... So yeah,the sims 4 is toned down like a lot but has still its arrows to the scary part... And the prank calls,but wayyyy more toned down by the fact that you'll instantly know is a prank call.
I miss that in sims 4 there is Nottingham creepy or realistic anymore. Sims 1 was the best! The sounds at home and the build Mode in studiotown and magic town are so dramatic 😍
You'd practically have to be in the Criminal biz, to be safe from burglars, or rake up certain traits to allow you to fight the burglar yourself in the sims 3; I think that was kind of the case with the Sims 2 but at least in the sims 2, burglaries didn't happen as frequently.

Magic Town has a very creepy circus-like atmosphere.
What also scary is that one of tragic clown trait is hydrophobe, and he dies by drowning. The things is all hydrophobic sims will avoid water at all cost and this will make them almost impossible to drown or even go into water bodies,which only mean tragic clown maybe potentially killed by someone by drowning.
Nobody asked, but one of the scariest things in The Sims 4 (in my opinion) is the death by mold from the For Rent dlc. It might just hit different for me because I actually lived in a slumlord apartment with black mold for a short time as a kid, but something about the sounds they make and the zombie walk thing they do is just pure nightmare fuel.
And why EA added these creepy sounds. Scariest of them it's burglar theme (I just got scared when burglar went to rob my house in sims 3). It's scarier than a horror game (even than scariest horror game)
Basically everything from ghost noises in sims 2 to blood curdling screams in sims 1, the burglar sound in sims 1 is the WORST fuggin sound in my opinion ever... everything else made me surprised and laugh because of the great effects they added. I will forever hate sims 1 burglar... and burglar alarm... but I welcome sims 2 burglar so long as they fix our sims' a.i. to be able to fight one back >:I

Something I remember from Sims 1 is a certain portrait, I can't remember the name of it, but if you had it on the wall it would cause sims entering that room to completely freak out. That kept happening in a hotel I built and it took me a while to realise the painting I'd quite innocently included was causing it. But, yeah, it seems like there was a lot of stuff I missed seeing in Sims 1, 2 and 3.
I always try to use the Kraken to bump off sims in The Sims 3, but it never seems to work even when there were a lot of other sims around and I do not understand why that option never worked in my copy of the game?

Plasma 501 would have something sinister going on or otherwise it would not be known as one of 3 hot spot night clubs for vampires to hang out, Vampires go to these clubs because of the young adults hanging around with them waiting for the vampires to feast on fresh blood, in case they are not ordering plasma drinks at the bar counter.
I think the scariest thing I've encountered in Sims was that time I was playing a household of all females and a creepy male laugh suddenly played out of nowhere. There weren't any NPCs around and it was dead of night 👀

This may sounds stupid but when I was in build mode as a kind and I was really deep in thoughts just doing final finishes with some plants and then suddenly I'd klick on a very large tree that I didn't expected I got scared for a moment, it was like a jumpscare...just a very big tree out of the blue

I forgot that there is also a potion that your sim can drink to make him into a ghost and can still be made playable, but I don't remember if that potion was permanent or temporary.

I absolutely loved the sound fx that played at night when you have a grave/urn in TS2. Even if no ghost comes out the sound fx still played

Everyday,i regularly ask myself: is The Sims a horror game series? The sims 2 in particular is so disturbing because of it's multitude of bugs.
I always find the Sims 3 grim reaper outfits most trippy. I never liked the social bunnies or the early visits from a school mascot in The Sims 3. My favorite sim make up is the one that looks like an evil Carnival Mask

Okay idk who remember this but in sims 3 red horse ghost I never knew animals have ghost wondering in sims3 until one time while my sims are asleep I wanna act like I’m walking around city and see the baby horse ghost and it was the worst way I learn animal ghost also exits idk why but baby horse scare me more than adult one it was just floating so creepy

You do realize that the Exterminator van looks very similar to the one that was featured in MIB 1, right? the only differences is that the one in the MIB film was a different color and the roach was not on its back with a white flower.
I would add screams of sims in The Sims 1 when they Åre dying because of hunger and music in The Sims 3 when The Grim Reaper appears (also when a Sim dies).

As someone who's played the Dreamer household recently because I was trying to extend their ancestral and descendent family tree (along with all the other families in Pleasantview), that repo man is a special kind of evil. He took that man's livelihood. That easel is how he's supposed to eat, if you are following Dreamer's "dream" of using his artistic talent to pay the bills. XD

If you buy a house in magic town in TS1 the house at night will get super creepy. Sometimes you can see the Grimm Reaper walking by as an NPC, happens rarely though..haven't discovered any other special interractions with it.
That sounds terrifying in the best way possible 😳
In the sims 3 university if you stand against death the grim reaper will come and kill you for a few seconds, then he'll bring you back but told us to be careful😭

While The sims 4 has pratically removed all creepy stuff (re-introduced the repo man toh,still creepy smile,at least that) ,gotta admit there is a thing that scares the hell outta of me of that game: the dead by rabbit\chicken ghost,that eerie ghostly sounds whenever that specific ghost is nearby,with that floating head inside your body,to be fair is a decent scary thing for how "cutesy" the game has been. Ah and the "Possessed"emotion,that is nightmare fuel given how it looks on cartoony sims... So yeah,the sims 4 is toned down like a lot but has still its arrows to the scary part...
And the prank calls,but wayyyy more toned down by the fact that you'll instantly know is a prank call.
I miss that in sims 4 there is Nottingham creepy or realistic anymore. Sims 1 was the best! The sounds at home and the build Mode in studiotown and magic town are so dramatic 😍
You'd practically have to be in the Criminal biz, to be safe from burglars, or rake up certain traits to allow you to fight the burglar yourself in the sims 3; I think that was kind of the case with the Sims 2 but at least in the sims 2, burglaries didn't happen as frequently.
The haunted Jones house in Riverview is quite scary too.

What also scary is that one of tragic clown trait is hydrophobe, and he dies by drowning. The things is all hydrophobic sims will avoid water at all cost and this will make them almost impossible to drown or even go into water bodies,which only mean tragic clown maybe potentially killed by someone by drowning.

Nobody asked, but one of the scariest things in The Sims 4 (in my opinion) is the death by mold from the For Rent dlc. It might just hit different for me because I actually lived in a slumlord apartment with black mold for a short time as a kid, but something about the sounds they make and the zombie walk thing they do is just pure nightmare fuel.

And why EA added these creepy sounds. Scariest of them it's burglar theme (I just got scared when burglar went to rob my house in sims 3). It's scarier than a horror game (even than scariest horror game)
Basically everything from ghost noises in sims 2 to blood curdling screams in sims 1, the burglar sound in sims 1 is the WORST fuggin sound in my opinion ever... everything else made me surprised and laugh because of the great effects they added. I will forever hate sims 1 burglar... and burglar alarm... but I welcome sims 2 burglar so long as they fix our sims' a.i. to be able to fight one back >:I

Something I remember from Sims 1 is a certain portrait, I can't remember the name of it, but if you had it on the wall it would cause sims entering that room to completely freak out. That kept happening in a hotel I built and it took me a while to realise the painting I'd quite innocently included was causing it. But, yeah, it seems like there was a lot of stuff I missed seeing in Sims 1, 2 and 3.
I always try to use the Kraken to bump off sims in The Sims 3, but it never seems to work even when there were a lot of other sims around and I do not understand why that option never worked in my copy of the game?
Yeah, that option seems to be bugged, it doesn't always work for me either :(

Plasma 501 would have something sinister going on or otherwise it would not be known as one of 3 hot spot night clubs for vampires to hang out, Vampires go to these clubs because of the young adults hanging around with them waiting for the vampires to feast on fresh blood, in case they are not ordering plasma drinks at the bar counter.
I think the scariest thing I've encountered in Sims was that time I was playing a household of all females and a creepy male laugh suddenly played out of nowhere. There weren't any NPCs around and it was dead of night 👀

I get a weird dreamcore vibe when it comes to sims 1 to sims 3 vibes. The low saturation and old furniture is just off-putting for some reason.
Whenever the raccoon or the burglar appears, I always get spooked by that "blood-curdling" sound.

This may sounds stupid but when I was in build mode as a kind and I was really deep in thoughts just doing final finishes with some plants and then suddenly I'd klick on a very large tree that I didn't expected I got scared for a moment, it was like a jumpscare...just a very big tree out of the blue

I forgot that there is also a potion that your sim can drink to make him into a ghost and can still be made playable, but I don't remember if that potion was permanent or temporary.
I believe it's temporary, lasts for a few in-game hours iirc
