- Ever since we hosted the World Cup of parkrun Beauty on the With Me Now podcast I have wanted to visit the winner, Bere Island parkrun! In fact, this entire trip to tour around Irish parkruns was built around visiting Bere Island parkrun for my 40th birthday as a present to celebrate my new parkrun age category! It just so happened that it was Bere Island's birthday too... They're just a little younger than me and were celebrating their 9th journey around the sun.
With unbelievable luck then 4 wonderful parkrun friends from the UK were over too so we parked up on the driveway of their accommodation and joined them for a few wonderful days of companionship. I didn't realise how much I'd missed chatting to people I know!
We got the Bere Island Ferry from Castletown Bere over to Bere Island so we could experience the full parkrun experience and I can honestly say that every moment of this trip was truly magical! I hope you enjoy this video of my new favourite parkrun!
Happy running,
Nicola :)

All the lovely people and all the lovely views! Milton Keynes is still the best 😋Thanks for sharing.
Lol... I've still not done it so I shall reserve judgement. But I will say that it has a whole lot to live up to! #nopressure 😜
Great memories for you two , always nice to see a new upload .Stay safe 😉
The best memories from this day 🥰
Just watched the second half today , what lovely people you met , the cable car is cool , Poppy helping the people off was adorable , she is a legend just like her mum 😉
Awww thank you so much, that's my girl 🥰 she has such a big heart 💓 Everyone we met in Ireland through parkrun was lovely! We were very lucky! 🤗
Happy birthday looking forward to you returning with Danny on the with me now podcast.
Thanks Nathan 🤗
You're 40 already??? No way!! Time has gone by, remember when you were born 😂🎉❤
I know right?! I don't even think of you as being old enough to be 40!!! Time is not our friend! 😳
Happy birthday Nicola! What a perfect place to celebrate a milestone birthday. I really enjoy this series and seeing you explore Ireland. Your approach to the ParkRuns is so cool too. It looks like you have made a bunch of friends on your travels. Definitely have given me the bug to explore a bit more. Thanks for taking me along on this journey.
Thanks Eddie, yes we've definitely made some wonderful parkrun friends along the way which has been a highlight. But oh my goodness, I just had no clue how breathtakingly beautiful Ireland was and I've really enjoyed discovering it's beauty 😍
So amazingly beautiful. I wanted to do Bere Island parkrun when we went to Ireland in 2018 but we ended up deciding to do the northern half(ish) of the island, which we also loved, but we need to get back there. Great video, thank you.
Ooh you could do the Wild Atlantic Way and finish with Bere Island parkrun! It's just amazing 😍😍😍
@@NicolaRuns it's definitely on my list. Maybe 2028. Goodness me that's a long way away, though! 😳
@@pennysimpson2777 I struggle to plan next year! 😱😱😱😂
@@NicolaRunsthat’s probably a good way to be. I’m a teacher so long holidays are in our summer/your winter. I should have a year off in 2028 though. 😁
Happy birthday to you, in a new milestone. Thank you for the commentary and lovely scenic views .
Thank you 🤗 Weren't the views beautiful 😍 Ireland is spectacular! ❤️🇮🇪❤️
What an amazing feature length episode. Absolutely loved this one. I'm now looking at options to take Team V on an adventure to Bere Island parkrun.
Thank you for sharing all your memories x
Thank you, I was thinking it was too long but it would have taken ages to cut down and I loved the whole adventure! You won't regret planning a trip there, it's awesome! 😃😍
I was watching this video earlier this morning before heading out for my own parkrun. Your Irish adventures with ferries and cable cars are amazing and your enthusiasm is infectious. Such glorious scenery for your birthday celebrations and the weather seemed kinder than it has been in earlier videos.
My home parkrun was celebrating its own birthday today, its 6th, with a Hawaiian theme. Lots of leis and tropical patterns on shirts and shorts.
Awww thank you. That's awesome! Gotta love a parkrun birthday celebration 🎉🎉🎉 This was such a cool adventure and you're right, we were so lucky with the weather! There was actually one big rain storm that passed really quickly but I forgot to film it! So it was still Irish weather but definitely good Irish weather 😃😂
Superb video Nicola. This looks like an amazing parkrun.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, it is! It's the most beautiful parkrun in the world! I can't recommend a trip here highly enough! 😃😍😍😍😃
I always look forwards to your videos, you present in an interesting way. keep up the good work.
Thanks Geoff 🤗
Another epic video, Nicola, the views from Bere Island are stunning & the cable car looks fun too. I had a great view at Bevendean Down too on Saturday but avoiding the freshly laid cowpats was more of a challenge than the hill ! 😆
Thanks 😃 erm... with cowpats come cows! 😳😳😳
Great Video as always Nicola , really enjoy your enthusiasm.
Thanks, there was too much enthusiasm on this parkrunday! I think I cried 3 times 😂 #happytears
Stunning Parkrun, the views across the water were amazing. Happy belated birthday Nicola - with age comes a new found bravery near cows (I thought it was very brave touching the sticker)
Thank you 🤗 Ooh I hope my cow bravery gets better with age! That would be awesome 😎
Com on,get home,u got to get us thru York marathon in two weeks!
Lol, I've actually just got home but I'm behind on my editing 😜
I've really enjoyed watching your videos lately, especially the ones around various marathons. No other TH-camrs seem to capture the atmosphere anywhere near as well as you do. I'm a bit surprised to see you're from Leeds but haven't done the Cliffe Castle Parkrun though (or you don't have a video on it) - definitely one of the more interesting ones in Yorkshire I've found!
Awww thanks for much 🤗 pleased you're enjoying the videos 😃 I try not to revisit places I've been unless I'm working on a parkrun target because there's so many parkruns I've not done yet. I've already run Cliffe Castle but you're right it was before I started filming 🙃
You have such amazing videos and happy birthday and you tell such a good story
Thanks Bertie ☺️
May I invite you to Deerpark Forest parkrun in Virginia, Co. Cavan.
Before or afterwards you can checkout Lough Ramor and Loughcrew, one of which is a Lake the other a megalithic tomb on top of a mountain (small hill really) and not to far from Fore and its 7 miracles.
As fir the parkrun itself, single loop through the Forest, taking in lakes and crossing a rivers, a beautiful run or walk.
Ps. Love your videos.
Oh wow! That sounds awesome 😎 Unfortunately we've just got back to the UK 😔 So it'll have to be one we save for next time 😃❤️🇮🇪❤️😃
Happy birthday
Thank you 🤗
Amazing video! Your videos are making me want to visit Ireland 😊 Wow such a beautiful parkrun! And it looks like there is such a lovely community there. That windy cable car looked fun 😂
Definitely get a trip to Ireland planned 😃 Can't believe I'd not even done an Irish parkrun until this trip! I was totally missing out! 🙃
Epic vid. More stunning Irish scenery & hospitality; & the force is strong with Poppy! How long had you been waiting to do Bere Island?
Thanks, stunning isn't it! How long... all my parkrun life I reckon 😉 in reality, about 3 years so it was awesome to actually be there. I was so happy! 🎉🎉🎉
That was every bit as good as advertised! I feel sorry for Danny having to edit the pod next week as you could no doubt talk for three hours plus about your travels!
Only 3 hours?! 😉😜 It was literally the best parkrun 😃
happy birthday🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you 😃🤗
errrrrrrrrrrr 'most' is a strong phrase here .... #fountainsabbey
🤣🤣🤣 I ran at Fountains this week to explain to it that I still loved it but that Bere Island is just more beautiful and Fountains understood. It's now my number 2 parkrun which is still pretty good though! 😜
Maaaaaaagical 🪄
Every second 🥰😃😃😃🎉
