Ridiculous how Knicks fans wanted Shelton Jones, who played 51 games that year, only to never play another minute in the league. All Strickland did was end up 7th in league history in assists at the time of his retirement.

The Interview with Dell was held 3 months after Steph was born. Crazy to think he got to charlotte after his son who is now regarded as the greatest shooter of all time was born in the same hospital as Lebron James.

Seriously I'm amazed that they Booted some of the players in the draft including Rod Strickland.

One (technically two) more thing(s) please, Tommy. Do you have any of Hersey Hawkins' games once he turned pro? Or, any NBA games from the 1980s? Thanks again.

Thank you for this man. I say this for all rare videos of entire nba drafts but I hope you have an archive of this video in case youtube takes it down arbitrarily.

Rik Smits was such a cool nba prospect. I love guys like smits or shawn bradley, HUGE dudes who went to mid majors and who everybody thought had insanely high potential
Edit: Now that I mention it…really sad what happened to Shawn Bradley. Some asshole ran him over and claimed it was accidental. Paralyzed him.

Sixers should have drafted Mitch Richmond as the 3rd overall pick and just imagine if they would've pair him up with Charles Barkley

Hello Tommy, great rare video on the '88 Draft, I can never find complete NBA Draft footage from the 1981, 1983 and 1999 NBA Drafts.

Knick fans wanted Shelton Jones..Rod Strickland scored 14,000 points in his nba career. Shelton Jones scored 244. This is why fans don't draft players

@@tommywienke4164 Nick's fans do not do when we draft a good player. When we drafted Patrick Ewing we cheered when we drafted Mark Jackson same thing. What looked like the problem with this pic of rod Strickland was that we already have Mark Jackson so what are we doing.?? Rod needed to start in order to be effective. We felt we needed a starting small forward but we didn't get one so we booed. IDK

They booed him cuz we already had Rookie of the Year Mark Jackson and needed an athletic wing player. As good as Strickland was, it was a poor pick all things considered and we made it worse by trading him for Mo Cheeks a year and a half later.

Danny Manning never lived up to being a #1 overall pick. Wasn't a bust he was okay.. but just okay wasn't what was expected of him.

I grew up in Dallas. Throughout the ‘90s, they were mostly a doormat of a franchise. Sometimes I forget how long the Clippers were an equally bad team, haha! I think they went 15 straight seasons w/o a playoff appearance. It’s amazing to me that they managed to stay in LA through all this. Of course, I’m aware that they were originally in Buffalo and then San Diego, prior.

These analyst are hilarious. Issue with Will Perdue drafted, but they had Horace Grant still on the roster. Even in 1988!

Very nice video. Maybe the Nicks should have tried for Jerome Lane at small forward along with Oakley and Ewing it would have been impressive. So I'm saying Jerome Lane instead of Strickland at number 19.
