Wake Up And Spell The Coffee | The Chef's Shift (Typing-Based Restaurant Manager - Demo)

The Chef's Shift is a wonderfully daft game about running a restaurant but we have to do everything by typing random words assigned to various tasks. Want to make some coffee? Type the word 'badger'! Want to serve some cake? Type the word 'garden'! Simple, huh? Well no, it becomes a tad more complicated...
As well as the whole restaurant managing typing game there's also a gloriously silly story about our character, Lorenzo, a missing diamond necklace, a failed wedding and two rival mafia gangs. Inevitably we get dragged into things and end up chatting to a whole host of characters, including a mafia guy with an amazing name, a police officer who just loves a sit down and a woman who spends a lot of time in the bathroom.
As the game goes on we begin to sell more and more items in the restaurant, ranging from different types of coffees and cakes through to pizzas and pastas, all of which must be cooked and prepared and served by typing!
Sometimes loud people come in and we have to serve their food in UPPER CASE. Clowns require us to type a series of random symbols and dinosaur fans only respond to the sometimes very complicated names of dinosaurs!
All-in-all it's an excellent game with a generous helping of silly plot, a large handful of humour, a cup of chaotic gameplay and a huge pinch of enjoyment.

Hi, I'm one of the devs. Thank you very much for trying our demo! It's so much fun to see how you play it XD. And for the tea... well in the next restaurant there will be a tea XD. So basically the planned final version will have 6 differents restaurant where the first one is an Italian Restaurant. Next one will be a Chinese Restaurant, it's a dim sum and tea house. And of course the story will continue with it's twist and turns XD

I'm not sure how you managed to type all those odd words that made no sense for what you were doing. That was so much fun to watch... and I loved the story.

To explain the food: the thing next to the chocolate cake is panna cotta with chocolate sauce and berries, the thing next to that are called cannoli, a Sicilian fried food filled with sweetened mascarpone cheese and pistachios. Down the bottom, the green pasta sauce is pesto made from basil, the bow tie pasta is called farfalle, which means butterflies, the spiral pasta are called fusilli. The thing next to the arancini I'm not quite sure, but they look like either calzoni fritti (if you know what a calzone is, that but deep fried and in small) or pitoni messinesi, which are similar. Both are sicilian street foods, just like arancini which btw are deep fried balls of rice with assorted fillings. I've had them (not authentic ones, bc I'm not from Italy) with tomato-mozzarella filling and spinach-mozzarella filling. Very delicious.
