- Here is how to recover your data from an iPhone that does not turn on. This motherboard has a short circuit, which is causing no signs of life. So I show every step, in detail, how to diagnose the issue, repair it & get it fully functional, so we can recover the customer's data.
Do you need your data recovered? Send me a message for a quote: vccboardrepairs.com/contact
The first step is to isolate the motherboard & take it out of the housing. Any of the small parts plugged in could be the reason why it doesn't boot up.
Then we connect to the DC Power Supply, to check for shorts before prompt to boot & after prompt to boot. In this case, we had a 3A short BEFORE prompt to boot. This tells us we have a short on either:
1. VDD MAIN
2. VDD BOOST
or 3. Batt VCC
In this case, we found a short on VDD MAIN.
Then we use a thermal camera to try to track down where that short is. In this case, we were unable to pinpoint it directly, as it was either under a shield or inside the sandwich.
So I proceeded to split the sandwich to check inside, only to find the short was on the top side of the board, all along.
After removing the shield, we discovered the shorted capacitor.
We removed it & cleared the short.
Reballed the sandwich back together & got the phone fully functional!

My pleasure! Happy to hear you're enjoying my channel!
You work amazingly it's very nice to watch you. Can you do videos on how to replace charging ports and connectors on the board
I have many videos on this topic. Search my channel to find them 😀
Another good repair, Thanks for the video.
In my experience, I have repaired quite a few iPhone 11 boards, mainly for that no signal issue that stems from certain caps on 2-3 specific lines shorting or partial shorting causing it to be searching all the time, but that aside, I have found that those boards are very heat sensitive, they use 138 solder from the factory so, you only need to go to about 150c or so to split it safely. I found that sometimes if I reballed them with 183 instead of 138 and I had to heat the board to 200c to have the half's solder back together, I found in about 1/5 cases, the baseband would end up with cold solder. However, using a good quality 138 solder, and heating to 150c i found in over 100 iPhone 11's I have never had a cold solder issue under the baseband and issues related to the bottom board again. It just kinda scared me when you heated it up at the start so hot.
On another note. When it comes to removing that plate, I find it is much safer to just use a rotary tool of some sort, and as long as you are very careful not to press too hard, or scratch the board or any components, it works very well. I guess the only trade off is, you have no plate left to solder back on there.
Yes, I've been fixing these for years on a regular basis. I understand how to handle the heat on them. Never had an issue as you described.
To each their own
@@VCCBoardRepairs Absolutely, To be clear, I wasn't criticizing your work, You do a very professional job, I have been watching for a long time now, I have seen the quality of your work.
I think there are a lot of technicians out there who watch these videos to learn how to solder, and I think it is important to share our stories and experiences so that after they have watched the video, they can read the comments and perhaps be encouraged to share their own
To be honest the issues I was referring to are long term, say 3-6 months down the track. A lot of the devices I repair have been sold, and come with warranty for 1-2 years, which is where I can see the issues come back over time, in the short term there is no issues to worry about.
Any way, as I said the first time, Another great repair, Thanks for the video. And I will add too, Please keep making more, I love to see them
I've never seen a video of a dead mobile with 0.00amp draw on usb meter . Could you please share , what could be the problem?
super reparation
Thank you! Cheers!
