Hey buddy, thank you very much for this video :) I bought the POD one week ago and I still need to learn more about it. This tutorial helped me a lot! I love that tone. I hope that one day we can do a dual guitar cover. :)
The first time I watched your video, I managed to get a pretty decent sound out of my POD HD ProX. Then I downloaded a patch that was designed to sound like Humanity's Last Breath and from then on, I've been having trouble with over saturation, which is why next week I will take your advice again and use the KISS method. One thing I've learned is that the guitar tone you design for yourself is one thing. Putting on makeup over your tone to make it sound even prettier in a recording studio is another world all together.
Thanks for the tutorial. Never thought of experimenting with "pre" version for direct recording tones. I agree, +1 for straight and linear tones, and for paying attention to picking dynamics. Also string gauge makes an absolute difference
yeah ur right finally I figured it out. my past past patches are full of fucking eq and it sounds terrible but then thanknyou so much for this video love it.
@@MilianMalivukMusic I have the 15 watt version of the studio and it's cool, but if John browne really used that one, I'm not sure I'm good at tweaking as him

Hey this is the best Rhythm patch I've gotten for my POD HD PRO X, could you make a video on a tone for lead/riffing tone to play over this rhythm patch? Thanks :)
To be honest, by now I think: no. At least not for me. Still have my HD500 but I only use it as interface and use VST amp sims that are much much better. I just stick to the POD for some ambient Tesseract style cleans.
You can play through a normal guitar cab as well. You'll need a power amp. I run my Eleven Rack live with a rocktron velocity 100 power amp through my celestion v type loaded 2x12. Any patches you make with the cab Sims on will need tweaked a bit. Make sure to turn the cabs off if you run through an actual guitar cab.
Hello Milian. I would like to contact you to ask you a question. Please, I would like to know which module between the line6 pod 3 x pro and the line6 hd x is the one that would best match to have modern sound. Which of the two seems to you to have the most sound qualities, the most effects and to be the most efficient? I am still waiting for a response from you. THANKS. Sincerely.
Hi! Thanks for the help dude, my tone have changed so much. I've never tried before the PRE configuration of the pod HD. Have you tried this patch playing with a band? How does it work?
are you plugged into an amp? i dont have an fx loop on my amp. is it a bad idea to use an amp simulation through my amp input clean channel? really need help with this one =(
@@huntmaguire8363 if you are using the pod with a power amp and real cab you will want to turn the cab sim off in the pod. And that would be a large reason why your sound doesn't sound the same as this. The tone you are hearing in the video is through his computer speakers with a cab simulation in the pod. Your cab likely sounds nothing like the cab model in this video (unless you have an ENGL pro 412 cab)
I'm looking for some help here in deciding whether or not the Pod Hd pro x is worth the extra money over the pod hd500. Does anyone have experience with both of the units and can give me some pros or cons to either one?
Well the HD Pro X is a rack unit, whereas the HD500 is a floorboard. I traded my HD Pro X against a HD500 because it's MUCH easier for live use. Otherwise the rack unit has more connections and a stronger processor (but the same sound) so you can build more complex patches. However the power of my HD500 is sufficient for every normal patch. It's just getting weak when you want to play with 2 guitars through it at once for example. There, an X would have a better performance.
Thanks for your tutorials and music dude, subbed instantly! What is your opinion on using a compressor, such as the RED or TUBE COMP in the POD HD 500 ? What sort of clarity to do you find as opposed to using the amp head distortion.
I've been using the red comp before the screamer with basically your same configuration, with good results. But I have to set the amp gain very low to maintain any kind of clarity. I wish there where more subtle variations of the compressor, this one is too either full on or too little compression. It's hard to get an even and natural sounding tone with the compressors in my experience.
Noise Gate before distortion or pre-amp? That's a no-no since it affects the dynamics of your dry signal (thus taking some gain away as you mentioned), making your softly picked parts or the ends of sustaining notes silent. To correctly remove dist/amp hum and fizz, you have to put it after them.
There's no right or wrong here in my opinion. I put the noise gate first because I want noise to be taken out before it gets amplified. If you use a real amp and a real noise gate pedal it will also be in that position of the signal chain. Of course this is a topic that is based on personal preference and experimenting! ;)
But you can remove the noise just as well after it has been amplified. The only difference is that you don't affect your dry signal, keeping your playing dynamics intact. And you can't remove all noise any way, because your guitar or amp or whatever is still making noise when you are playing normally, and you can't touch that.
Btw I tried your version @mkaali (noise gate after amp sim) and it does not work properly. It's called a noise GATE not noise filter or something. When you are not playing, you risk making unwanted noises though, which you don't want. As you start playing, the gate fully opens and let's through the entire signal (as far as concern a real noise gate pedal, not the POD intern). It's about stopping unwanted noises while muting etc BEFORE they get amplified!
+llatzer criado No I record 2 rhythm guitar tracks only, each panned 100% left and right. Drums is Addictive Drums 2. Monuments is one of my favorite bands ;)

yes directly via USB! I used to change patches on the HD Pro X via Behringer MIDI footswitch, but that wasn't really satisfying, I'm happier with the HD500. I think soundwise, there's no difference at all.
En fait moi j'ai une veille enceinte, et non pas des vrais moniteurs. C'est super pour moi pour écouter de la musique et pour enregistrer. Pour le mixage j'utilise des écouteurs.

Good
Pretty much what Dino Cazares used for almost a decade before switching to a Kemper.
And John Browne
Awesome tone, man! Does the pro x need to be hooked up to a power amp when you're running it into your DAW? It functions as it's own interface right? Thanks!
No for recording you just use the POD and nothing else :) It basically is an interface with guitar tones in it. You can also plug in your mic via XLR and record vocals.
Ahah why is the tilte in french ?
Salut tu es français ?
Left to Die @6:40? :D loved the video
Actually it's "Graveless" by Periphery 😅
It sounds great, but, the actual guitar pick sound is about as loud as the output and messes with my head. Yes, I know this comment is 7 years too late, but my mind told me to write anyway. lol
This is definitely something I corrected in newer videos 😄
I don't know why some people hated line 6 so much untill it became "a denial", the quality of the sound are not bad. :/
Don't use them strings on nickel frets then XLs will tear them up because they are stainless steel
I lost my shit at 1:23
+Blake Mullens Hope you found it again ;)
Make a video on line 6 pod go!!!
got it!!!!,.. but um,, dont like the pick sound RIGHT THERE.,. distraction ))))) thx! ))) i like Kemper doe!
is this being used as the interface or are you recording a speaker cab?
change interface to direct input
I'm going direct via USB here
Thanks, that sounds great. I was considering buying this, I think your video may have swayed me. Great video!
