I honestly believe that you've made the right decision, because of two reason's: 1.) It works and 2.) the potential is limitless technology wise. The only other two that I've considered have been the SMART AV Tango 2 (Mc Control & Mix on Super- Steroids, lol) & the SSL Nucleus. The Mc Control is the one to start off w, then add the Mc Mix.
i got PT 10 HD up and running w/ an Mbox mini & recorded a few vox sessions. the controller just arrived at my studio yesterday in South Carolina. Im in Virginia for another week before i get back to plug in & do a session. I went full out man, got the PTHD IO Analog-Digi 8x8 , & PTHD MADI both on the way to the studio as well. Cant wait to get back and get to work, so i will do the same w/ you. thanks man!
To me it seems to heavily complicate my workflow. Especially now that you can control the interface with excellent iPad or tablet softwares. I think it is merely nice to look at and that's it.

Seriously thinking about replacing my DIGI 003 w/ one of each....but to be honest, it's more of the fact the 003 doesn't work w/ Logic Pro 9 also. I'm fine w/ it for PT 10.
I love my Artist Mix. I was considering getting one of these to use with it...but yeah, I'll get a second Artist Mix. This thing is ridiculously convoluted. It's a massive touchscreen...why in the hell should you have to touch all the physical buttons? That makes no sense. It defeats the purpose of having a touchscreen.
AMAZING! ALL i have to do is remember all sorts of key combinations to do what a console used to do... really great. Press left and right while clenching and it assigns the left controller to the command that will toggle the blah blah blah....oh well
if anyone actually owns this, please let me know how you like it. I was wandering if these units only control Pro Tools or if I could use it with any DAW. I mainly use Ableton Live, but the desk I'm looking at buying has slots for these avid units. If they are compatible with Ableton then I can buy the desk now, but if they aren't compatible then I will research another desk. Please if anyone has any insight on this let me know. It being AVID, my first assumption is it only works with AVID software. If anyone knows of some nice Ableton control units like this, please let me know.
I was in Guitar Center last week and low and behold....and used Artist Control was in the corner in MINT condition for 749.00. I put down that 25%....1st time I ever used payments at GC....picking it up on Father's Day!!!!

Yes I did that right from the start... Users still need better support . I am sure it does way more than what I'm able to do with it . Like assigning and customizing the soft keys .
All I wanted was a newer version of Command 8, which still worked great but the power supply died. To change a pan you have to press a pan knob then pan comes up, can’t have 4 pans (one for each fader). Incredibly complicated.
might as well make a standalone protools workstation... just my two cents... the time it takes to learn to translate all this this stuff and rewire your brain might be a wash vs using your mouse... grateful for the continued innovation by avid tho
Well first off, none of the Artist series of controllers use HUI...they use Eucon. You have to go to the setup page where you are trying to connect with HUI, and go to the bottom of the page where it says Ethernet and select that. Shouldn't have to do anything else.
To be honest, people of Avid, this product is way too complicated. For the touch screen, what will be better is to have short cut buttons for write automation and an extremely good surround panning interface. Why make it so complicated?
It runs through ethernet, so if your computer has an ethernet port and you are using software that supports EUCON, then it will work. I know it will work with Mbox Pro...so I'm going to go ahead and say yes, it'll work.
I'm having major problem with my artist control . Pro tools can't find the HUI .. I tried to up date firm wear . I took forever to find out how to do it . However it was already up to date . Not working . solo lights don't light up . faders kinda lazy ( my 002 felt way better ) Support is a joke . Your on your own . They just refer you to a group of other frustrated Artist control users and hope you can work it out with them .

To be candid, it really doesn't seem that efficient. Way too much button pressing to do certain things. As already said, it seems overly complex. I'm sure it would appeal to a larger audience if it came with a meat and potatoes setting and had an option to switch to advanced user settings. A controller like this should be able to do essential things really really well; it shouldn't strive to do absolutely everything off the bat.
The MC Control/Artist Control hardware is great, especially for the price. Combined with key commands and macros, only your imagination (and willingness to spend time on configuration) limits the use for the unit. But... The software however, is utter crap! And has been for a long time now. Configuring the touchscreen is just painful, defying all logic of user interfaces. The fact that it is impossible to move buttons (!!) to change the order of command execution (wtf?) and that it's limited to only one EUCON command per button, is as crippling as scaling a mountain in a broken wheelchair. Also, the software is not stable enough to warrant professional use. Fix the software AVID, and you have an awesome product!

There is a new midi controller made by Behringer for 600 bucks that does exactly what this overpriced artist control does. On top of being a great price, the Behringer looks way sturdier as well. This artist control bull looks like one wrong move and the damn thing wont work anymore. Too flimsy looking, and I'm usually a good judge of those types of things by just looking. F it, I just ordered the PreSonus FaderPort two days ago for 130 bucks. Perfect solution!!! The PreSonus FaderPort is made with a 100 mm Alps fader, that also happens to be motorized. I can bank one track at a time with it, or 8 at a time, and there are more features as well. Avid, GET YOUR PRICES TOGETHER!!!! You have already screwed Pro Tools users by getting rid of RTAS platform. Since then I have been screaming F your company. Any company who does that little slick move to paying clients is a really f**ked up company. Make me spend all of my money on RTAS plugins, and then you switch. Are you serious??? Poor choices will lead you into bankruptcy... Hopefully!!!!
I think you have things a bit backwards here, Behringer is usually the one with the flimsy products with poor build quality. Why do you think they're so cheap? If this isn't suited for you then don't buy it, no need to go into a massive rant about it. I can see where you're coming from with the RTAS plugins, but come on, you have to understand that technology progresses over time. If everyone complained each time something new came out we'd still be using floppy discs, tape machines, and 800Mhz computers with 256MB of RAM. Yes it's annoying to have to replace things and I do reckon Avid could have maybe kept co-support with RTAS and AAX for a bit longer than just PT10, but we shouldn't use that as an excuse to not progress forward with new technology.
On the contrary, Behringer is making some pretty good products nowadays (not that I own any yet), but their control surface is 600 bucks cheaper and can do all the same things that this overpriced mouse replacement can do. Behringer also has a monitor controller that is pretty cool and cost efficient as well. To top it all off, I have heard people who buy these flimsy Avid control surfaces complain that they are not as quite sturdy as you think. One guy even said that after a week he had problems with that touch screen thing shown here. Mias has taken over Behringer, (or something like that), so I am going to try buying the control surface (X Touch) and the monitor station. I'll surely post a review or two in the near future about them. I' was just saying that Avid is wayyyy overpriced. Especially for their mouse replacements!!!
I've been trying to download the eucon drivers all night without success simply because avid makes it impossible to register drivers for second hand units and you can't download without registering. You screw with the second hand market unwittingly making us fringe artists sell these overpriced products back and end up being seen on photos/publicly using products from other companies. So you loose our support and the free marketing! Great move mr smart marketing man, great move, you dummy!

What is the best setup for 50% strict editing (cut, time-remapping, sub-frame editing) and 50% color grading (in symphony)?

i am lage to the party BUT inserting a plugin with this controller is a pain. there is no benefit, doing it with mouse or soundflow in a few seconds😉

They're dumb in many ways. I'm sure you can get it registered so you can access drivers it will just take you about 10 hours of your time.
