It integrates with your iPad, extending the Pro Tools | Control iOS app's functionality with transport controls, a jog wheel, and automation controls. Is it only me? Every time i watch this guy Promote something.. I really listen and he makes me want to buy that product.. Knowing damn well. i don't need it or can't afford it... This guy is making people bankrupt... They picked the perfect person for their business, to showcase what ever they want to sale.
actually if you look into the raven it does support avid, protool, but its all on personal preference, me, I would prefer the 27 inch over an iPad control, the software may be free but you have to buy the dock and the ipad, which both will cost what a reven cost, if you like this that's fine, i guess people get mad now and days when you have your own opinion especiallyb if id doesnt agree with them

Hey, Pat! Great question. Yes, it will work fine without an iPad or the app. The Dock (and S1) also work with Android tablets and Kindle Fires. It works best with a tablet because of the extra visuals and programmability, but it’s not necessary.

what's the resolution of the main fader? can't find this info anywhere, I hope it is at least 10bit, preferably 14bit like bitchbend..

@@keithrichards4296 Hey, Keith! Remote control of preamps just depends on whether those preamps support EUCON or not, so it would vary from pre to pre. I'm not sure regarding RAVENNA and EUCON, I can't find any good information regarding the two working together, but there is nothing inherent with EUCON that disallows it from working with other protocols as far as I can find.

simple word. pure bs
BeatNTicks BNT I struggle with point and click of a mouse, and memorizing key commands, so a controller surface makes a lot of difference to me. Rock on to those who can navigate a DAW with ease using a keyboard/mouse. :) I struggle with it. key commands on a keyboard starts looking like greek to me and I have memory issues :/

No. Ableton does not support Eucon. Only MCU. Which is super limited.
by the time you but the dock and an I pad, you could have bought a slate raven for pop and have a 27inch touch screen...um bad idea pro tool
Yes and you can also add the PT dock to the Raven set up, as I did, if you want a fader now and then, and mostly in my case, for easier transport control and a shuttle wheel. The one thing Slate is missing imo. But depends if you want to stare at a screen all the time to work. If not then the S3/Dock "hardware" is a good way to go. It's all preference. Slate is powerful tho.

you have 50 different nondescript buttons that can be assigned to 1000 different operations. ? nothing here is faster or more convenient than my mouse.
The dock is useless! Just get an ipad.

Didn't buy purely because it's Apple only. I'm not an Apple hater, but their products don't suit my needs, so by pinning itself to them, the product doesn't meet my needs by extension.
