I own an 07 vstrom 1000. I think the 1st generation looks better, and it has dual exhaust. Funny thing is people attempt to race me all the time. I especially love racing the new CVO Harley's. 😎
OperationFoxley19441 thanks! I’m 182cm which should be 5’9 I think? I have lower version of the seat and I’m flatfooting it which I love. One of my friends which is much shorter 172cm also we’re managing more than fine.
dry509 This one surely feels more powerful being a liter bike. But in not overwhelming kind of way. Never scary. But when you need it it’s instantly available. I can’t say same about Versys. On Versys there’s enough of power surely. Considering bike is on another price point it’s made a little better. But I think reliability wise they should be same. Vstrom id believe is more expensive to service.
RoadTracer Thanks. At say 50-70 mph which bike has the least vibration. I have to travel on a 70 mph motorway for about 60 miles to get to some interesting twisty roads.
Nice bike! Do you think you could ride eg 1000 km with this exhaust sound? Btw, is it possible to buy a new V-Strom from dealer with the arrow muffler already installed?
With this exhaust is most certainly possible, did that myself :) But bottom going to get tired sooner :)) Its not that loud too actually. Also for very long journeys I use earplugs, as wind is far more annoying on highway speeds. ; It certainly possible getting it at the dealer if particular dealer offers this exhaust. Although I remember some dealers offers Yoshimuras for Suzuki bikes.
I used and external mic (model is in the description) in my side jackets pocket. However mic makes lots of cracking sound with jacket when slow maneuvering, so I had to use GoPro sound for some moments. I'd have experiment with better mic position. Commuting is remain to be seen. It's definitely less agile then my Duke 390, so I'd expect squeezing between cars would be less effective. I'll try to make some vid on this topic. On other hand if you mean commuting - rather highway and lesser amount of traffic battling - it's great. Sure comfy as well.
How would you compare the Versys 650 to this Vstrom 1000 ? I have an option to buy either. im 6'2" Havent rode either. Want a bike to do little bit of everything on.
I like more power of vstrom. And It feels just as light. Made on it over 20k already and like it a lot. It feels more modern too with better and bigger dashboard info. But I tested it long time ago maybe kawasaki got already updated. Still though the amount of pull is incomparable :) Ah, when I go with my wife it’s fantastic on vstrom too as it generally can carry weight with more confidence.
Gear driven camshaft which is one of the reasons I like them. The DL650 is a chain drive, which makes it a pain in the butt to adjust the valves. On the 1000, you can just lift the camshafts off.
More people should do subtitles so you can hear the big the whole way through. I really enjoyed that, thank you!
Great sounding bike!
Great choice :-) I love the noise it makes :-) I've had one for two years now :-)
Thanks a lot! This exhaust is making nice sound indeed :) cheers!
Fajnový zvuček a motorka, taky mě bude říkat pane :)
Congrats on the new bike!
Thank you! :) Today did a first run on it. I definitely want to make an impression video now
How are you liking the bike? I am looking at a similar model.
226 kg is not heavy for a 1000 cc adventure bike
How about the vibration it is not bad?

Beautiful bike!!! How tall are you? I'm Ft 5'7 tall would I fit on this bike?

I've got that same bike. Easy to U turn!
How is the versys 650 compared to this. What are the differences?

Nice vid
how did you record the exhaust sound?
also, how is the commuting ability on this bike?

You shore you know how to ride a bike?
Learner?
Seems to have a whine?

Thats how these engines sound. I think what you're hearing are the scissor gears.
Is that the stock factory muffler?
Use your eyes!!
Way to scare the shit out of that cyclist there - revving while passing from behind.
Looks like you need a mini trail 50 to match skill level
I bet that cyclist was pleased
