So to summarize (means: slight spoilers ^^): with all powers in play Necronomicurse became a 0 Energy "Lose 1 health, draw two cards, gain 2 Strength, gain 3 Block and return this to your hand" or in short, the best card in any card game ever
At 1:24:35, the copied Reaper fizzles because of a bug when killing the first phase of the Awakened One fight. I actually reported that bug back in 2020 and Anomaybee looked into, reproduced it, and discovered that attempts to fix it just caused more bugs.

What I find even cooler than the exact lethal from fiend fire was Baalor asking the audience to "inquire" as to other ways to draw more from fiend fire. Love to see a teacher who cares about lifting others up through engaging them in the process.

1:25:12 the Necronomicon didn't activate on Reaper there due to a bug. It's related to The Awakened One technically "dying but not really" which prevents the card from being played a second time at all.

I had my "Beat the game with a 5 card deck or smaller" achievement be with the necronomicurse just bc I exhausted it infinitely with blue candle and had self forming clay for +3 block next turn every time I lost health. I didn't even realize I had such a good blocking method until I accidentally played it while fighting the Awakened One. Idk how I won with that 5 card deck because I srsly didn't plan for much except to remove as many cards as possible, but I was so happy I was able to get the achievement. (deck: Bludgeon+, Bash+, Inflame+, Defend, and Necronomicurse)
I think he is correct. If you have 20% discount on a 500 gold item. You have to pay 400. If you need 400 gold instead of 500, you effectively increase your 400 gold by 25%.
To make the courier seem even better, it's actually like multiplying your money by 1.25, not 1.2! Similar to how the membership card is like doubling your money with the 50% discount.

This run might surpass the #14th win of the 20 rotating win streak with the last second defect infinite as my favourite run It has it all, even calling the champion's belt on the mindbloom event
This run was absolutely bonkers to watch live, and even rewatching it... just wow. The sheer amount of things that came so cleanly together for this run, you could probably play another few thousand times and still not see it again.
Just hit ascension 15 on all characters and I still am surprised to see these insanely unique runs from you like this one and the exhume nightmare run recently too. Truly the spire goat

This is the run! Best spire run from the best spire player. Its incredible how this run start with a really humble start to... that. In my head this is the cannon ending of StS.

Greatest run in the history of this game, and I don't think it will ever be topped. And in a game like Slay the Spire that really is saying something Not sure how many people will appreciate how special this run really was. An absolute god seed, piloted masterfully by Baalor. The seed itself is one thing. The seed provided the opportunity for this to happen, and that in and of itself is remarkable. But then to have Baalor be the one to find the seed is key, because if it were me this seed would likely have been flushed down the toilet. Not only that, but even if Baalor had been on this seed normally, this probably would have been a typical run that no one ever would have remembered. To get Baalor was on this specific seed, during his mastery run, so that he takes and duplicates the necronomicurse, and well, the rest is history. It's almost unfathomable. Getting Runic Dome. Getting the Blue Candle. Getting the Rupture. Like HOLY SHIT. Double Reaper and Feed on Reptomancer is shit that you dream about. The guy Feeds on the Transient, AND the Donut for God's sake! And of course clean Heart Kill This run is something so unique, so special. It had such a slim chance of happening, and required all the planets to align perfectly. I think we're all lucky to have experienced this. I honest to God feel like this is a huge moment in the history of gaming, and it feels cheesy to say that but it's true And it couldn't have happened to a better guy
The two most illusive challenges for the mastery challenge all in one package! Hot diggety. I remember seeing the blue candle necro dead branch run. The path up the spire is never linear and it's always a treat to watch Baalor navigate it as if it were his own home.
So I started watching this on my lunch break and couldn't watch it all. Grabbed a couple beers on the way home to finish it off and man....glad I did. Fun to watch!
Not to mention the fiendfire, feel no pain, AND KEEPING A DECAY in his deck… I was like… literally only self-forming clay (don’t think Corruption would be a proper fit in this crazy deck) would be the only thing better for this run. Or strange spoon. Could you imagine strange spoon fiend fire shenanigans???
Watched this three days ago and this morning it happened for me! A20 ironclad run Runic cube Necronomicon Reaper Blue candle Flex By the end of act 2 this was fairly strong Then I added limit break and rupture+ Probably the most fun spire run ive ever done. I've only beaten A20 a few times only once with clad, this was the easiest win I've ever racked up I literally feel like plugging the seed number in and doing it all over again 😆😆😆😆😆
I beat a20 with ironclad on my 3rd attempt. I can't get past a18 with the defect and a16 with the silent. Sounds like you find those characters a lot easier than I do!
If you do decide to take the seed and use it, remember that Baalor uses a mod which you'd need to install as well. It's something like "perfect randomization". It actually makes the random aspects random, but it does change how the seeds work a little bit.
Honestly I thought Baalorlord was going to go Analog Horror on us when the music cut off at the end of the collector fight. It’s as if the game knew how cursed this run was

the reaper not playing twice in the first act 3 boss was such a weird interaction. It was supposed to but knew you wanted the pen nib for more than 3 damage haha
For never players: necromomicon with fiend fire is dangerous, if you have dark embrace in play. I managed to destroy my complete deck once without finishing the combat...
Is there anything special that the game does when you get down to zero cards? Or does it just look at you and say “Click End turn, you absolute buffoon?”
Easily my favorite run of vanilla runs, and I've seen.. too many games. This deck was that weird sort of coin lands on its edge that you can get to happen for watcher with some regularity, but seeing something like this particular conceit (well put) is less traveled by and was a pleasure.
Holy hell, this run! What have we all just witnessed?! I bet twitch chat was just losing its collective mind when this happened. Regarding why the reaper didn't get doubled against the awakened one, it's because you killed it (the first phase, anyway) with the first activation, I'm pretty sure.
When you were talking about doing a curse run to try and master the curses in another run, I was thinking Ironclad for this exact reason because of Blue Candle synergizing with so many of Ironclad's paradigms, but my idea had Firebreathing in it. Blue Candle/Runic Cube or Blue Candle/Dark Embrace lets you get away with having curses in your deck. Runic Cube is far more consistent, but it's a boss relic and hard to rely on getting. Dark Embrace is -1 card draw, -1 or -2 mana, and you aren't guaranteed to get it in your opening hand unless you have a small deck with Gambling Chip, or bottle it. It's far easier to get though and safely synergize with while self-harm decks are extremely risky and inconsistent without key cards/relics at A20. You could also get a Tungsten Rod, and forego the damage from Blue Candle entirely for infinite draw with a Dark Embrace. I would be all for a change to Blood for Blood, so that it starts at 2 mana, but it deals less damage while the upgrade is just more damage instead of cost reduction. It's one of the best starting cards for a self-harm deck, but it's just too high cost if you can't safely get damaged or draw it too early before even being able to be damaged i.e Lagavulin, Nob, Slime Boss, etc. Makes it super hard to take if you don't already have a way to damage yourself.

1:23:24 Ok, he kept saying "don't play the fiend fire" but didn't explain why. He mentioned on the previous turn that it would ruin the combo but I'm having a hard time following. To be honest, this run was getting so crazy towards the end that it was hard to keep track of which combos were triggering which other combos.
@@tpr9126 Thanks! That explains a lot. He normally plays as many copies of Dark Embrace as the game offers him, but it was causing issues in this deck. It was also filling his hand with cards when he was trying to buff with necronomicurse as well as occasionally forcing the curse out of his hand entirely when hitting 10 cards.
That Fiend Fire + Necronomicurse tech to deal exactly enough damage to kill Gremlin Leader blew my mind. That's the kind of turn where I wouldn't calculate anything and just lose lmao

The fiend fire necronomicon tech was incredible at 40:30. It being exact lethal was just the cherry on top.
The boss win music didn't even play when he did it at 52:04. Even the game was stunned

Easily my favorite run of vanilla runs, and I've seen.. too many games. This deck was that weird sort of coin lands on its edge that you can get to happen for watcher with some regularity, but seeing something like this particular conceit (well put) is less traveled by and was a pleasure.

Regarding why the reaper didn't get doubled against the awakened one, it's because you killed it (the first phase, anyway) with the first activation, I'm pretty sure.
When you were talking about doing a curse run to try and master the curses in another run, I was thinking Ironclad for this exact reason because of Blue Candle synergizing with so many of Ironclad's paradigms, but my idea had Firebreathing in it.
Blue Candle/Runic Cube or Blue Candle/Dark Embrace lets you get away with having curses in your deck. Runic Cube is far more consistent, but it's a boss relic and hard to rely on getting. Dark Embrace is -1 card draw, -1 or -2 mana, and you aren't guaranteed to get it in your opening hand unless you have a small deck with Gambling Chip, or bottle it. It's far easier to get though and safely synergize with while self-harm decks are extremely risky and inconsistent without key cards/relics at A20. You could also get a Tungsten Rod, and forego the damage from Blue Candle entirely for infinite draw with a Dark Embrace.
I would be all for a change to Blood for Blood, so that it starts at 2 mana, but it deals less damage while the upgrade is just more damage instead of cost reduction. It's one of the best starting cards for a self-harm deck, but it's just too high cost if you can't safely get damaged or draw it too early before even being able to be damaged i.e Lagavulin, Nob, Slime Boss, etc. Makes it super hard to take if you don't already have a way to damage yourself.

1:23:24 Ok, he kept saying "don't play the fiend fire" but didn't explain why. He mentioned on the previous turn that it would ruin the combo but I'm having a hard time following. To be honest, this run was getting so crazy towards the end that it was hard to keep track of which combos were triggering which other combos.
He had played Dark Embrace so Fiend Fire (played twice by Necronomicon) would have exhausted most of his draw pile too.
@@tpr9126 Thanks! That explains a lot. He normally plays as many copies of Dark Embrace as the game offers him, but it was causing issues in this deck. It was also filling his hand with cards when he was trying to buff with necronomicurse as well as occasionally forcing the curse out of his hand entirely when hitting 10 cards.
