I really like that you do NOT make people feel stupid. You teach so well and you are really entertaining. Keep it up and thank you. It is very informative!
hello ! I have big issues about motivation and cleaning, this probably come from my depression when I was young. Seeing you clean with such a positive energy really motivate me to do so , this makes me feel like it could be a pleasant , almost playfull, experience and for someone who has a brain wired around "cleaning = bad" this really helps me. I'm going to follow your channel to finally invest me into cleaning better my living space. Thank you very much !
Last week i was named wit another classmate to clean around the cooking classroom and i didn't knew how to mop. I tried my best but then the teacher asked me if i ever did this, and i said no, shestarted mocking me and she cleaned in my place. No one ever teached me how to use cleaning tools like mops, brooms etc. However this video is very nice, i love how you explained step by step, now i just hope i wont gonna be ashamed of a teacher ever..
I can relate! I didn't learn how to sweep until I was about 30. I'm nearly twice that old now and I'm just starting to feel confident about mopping. I didn't have a good example to follow at home, so it was mostly about figuring it out myself. That makes me sad to hear that your teacher mocked you - the very opposite of what a teacher should do! I have always been grateful to a 7th grade Home Economics teacher who taught me to wipe water spots off a counter top - something that would never have been done in my home, but made a big difference. I wish sweeping and mopping had been taught too.
Thank you I need to keep my back straighter because it hurts now after my new job. Some people think cleaning is simple but theres a technique for everything to achieve good results.
This video holds up even today. So much better than all these ridiculous systems that have been developed to make it easier to mop without having to touch the mop and ring it out. The string mop works better and is much cheaper. These "moping systems" will break down after a year or two or even sooner.
The crucial bit for me is dry cleaning with various sized brushes to start with, saving the more time consuming moping. And whereas in the beginning I found it an annoying chore, I now find it therapeutic knowing I'm doing things correctly.
I just got into a situation where my dad got upset because there was too much water on the floor although i was trying to dry the floor by soaking the mop first. Thank you for this informative video at least you're not insulting anyone for not knowing how to mop or forgetting how to mop.
@@CleanWithConfidence I wish I did too. My palms always get rough and really sore when I'm mopping and squeezing the mop. Please do you have any advice for that?
I love your video man. I'm newly single after 11 years of marriage. Whenever I tried to mop I felt like I was just slinging filth everywhere!! Lol! Thanks for this. You're my new cleaning encyclopedia.... I need to see if you have recommendations for dried caked slime. I have a Slime Scientist 👩🔬 in my family.
Great video! I've always been more of a dry sweep / spot-cleaner for my kitchen floors but now I really need to mop. This tutorial was very handy. Thank you!
Nice video! Looking forward to your other ones. Growing up, my mom was a horder...so no floors to clean. I like to make sure I'm cleaning correctly. Thank you!
So helpful! Just moved into a townhouse that has laminate wood look floors that I SWEAR have never been cleaned. This is exactly what I needed. Too much square footage to go on my hands and knees for it all.
I've never learnt how to mop or sweep the floor. I've tried doing it but after five minutes I get so tired. This video makes mopping look so easy and simple. Even after watching this video repeatedly and tried mopping many times and I'm still not able to do it properly. I can't figure where I'm going wrong.
I can relate! It takes muscles and practice to get used to it! I was over 30 when I finally mastered sweeping! I remember my arms getting SO tired at first - but after several months it was no longer a problem. About mopping - getting good at that has taken much longer because I had a large family and it was always hard to find a time to do it WHEN no one would be walking on it. Mopping uses the same muscles as sweeping, so once you've got those muscles, you can do either.
Welcome to the channel Ashleigh! I have a playlist series on the channel entitled “Cleaning Routines.” You should start there and then if there are specific things you want to know how to clean along the way you will find them on the channel as well.
my parents never really made me clean and whenever I was the one who had to clean in class during Fridays I always felt so stupid :,( I hope u know how much your videos help even after so many years. ❤
I use the Vileda Easy Wring mop. It's like a good old string mop, but the bucket has a pedal that spins the mop head to quickly and easily remove the excess water but still keep it wet enough, works great. You can also remove the head and throw it in the washing machine (I wash it with bleach to effectively remove stains and disinfect it at the same time).
#1. investing in a mob bucket with a wringer is well worth the investment. #2. I buy mop handles that allow for replacing the mop head. In this way, I can choose different weights of mop heads and have at least two mop heads on hand. One for initial cleaning and the first rinse and the second mop head of rinsing only. After the floors are done, I hang the mop heads on a clothes line, fence, or a saw horse and rinse throughly with the hose and allow them to dry outside. #3. If you think you are NOT going to end up either bending over or on your hands and knees with a clean cloth or sponge to get the baseboards clean after the mop left splashes or residue then perhaps you should inspect your baseboards again.
This is what I do for really dirty floors (or anything else that can tolerate water). I put my water/solutions down (a couple of cups or more) and just cover the floor with the mop. When it's all soaking, leave it alone for about 20 minutes. The solution will dissolve most of the dirt without you having to scrub it over and over again. When you go back, just mop up the loose water and rinse if you want to. The tough stuff comes right up. I use this technique on my stove, counters, windowsills, floors, sinks, porches, etc. It's like letting your dishes soak in the sink for awhile. It gets out most of the ground-in dirt with just a few swipes.
Thanks for a nice presentation. Just a couple of suggestions, especially regarding floors that are not new and are high traffic areas (bathrooms especially): although you did mention cleaning along "the trim" how about a few more suggestions for cleaning along "the edges" of your tile floor and most of all, how about those corners where the dirt and the gunk piles up like little snow drifts (and the old wax for the non-waxless floors). Welcome to the channel! Typically, if floors are streaky it's for 1 of 3 reasons. 1, they are still dirty. 2, too much cleaning solution was used. 3, they were still a little too wet and not dried properly. A tip for drying you floors is to turn the ceiling fan on high while you are mopping.

Ha! Now that's a long story. Basically, I kinda fell into it by accident. I was fired from a local air conditioning company for my reluctance of crawling under houses. My wife had started cleaning homes on the side to bring in a little extra income and since I was unemployed I figured I would give her a hand. Here we are 12 years later and I am still unemployed lol. What kept me in cleaning, was after doing some number crunching, I was making more money cleaning part time then when I was working full time at the air condition place! Is there a level 3 cleaning? Never mopped anything before, but I bought a house recently, and then I got hit with a flood. My basement is like an alluvial plain.
I kick it old school and use a shitload of towels (3 per area). I spray the floor with whatever solution (usually vinegar and lemon juice) and use one towel to spread it around, I use a second water-drenched towel to rinse and a third one to dry. I do all these with my feet, not on my hands and knees. Complicated? Perhaps? But the whole using one mop over and over again spreading junk all over the place just makes me cringe!
Love your presentation. One suggestion for your next video. You might want to add the cleaning up after mopping step. Rinse and wring mop, clean bucket, store mop where it can dry out, and so forth.
How do you clean/sanitize the string mop for your cleaning business.... or does everyone get their own ??.. I'm just wondering because I've been struggling finding what mop to use in my own. Thank you!
Just check my channel. I have a video about how to actually clean the mop itself, or just type "how to clean a mop" into the search bar on youtube and you will find my video.
Question! How frequently should you mop floors? What if its a high traffic area but I don't want to let it get to the point that it needs a level 2 mop?
Sure don't. The only thing you can do is use the cleaning technique in the video or pull them out one by one with your fingers. I don't recommend putting mop heads in the washing machine because I hate having to untangle all the strands. You can avoid getting alot of hair in the mop by sweeping of vacuuming the floors first before you begin mopping. Good luck!
Hey thanks for teaching us it's very very clear I would like you to help me with all cleaning ingredients and products if it is possible for you I like know to know what can i buy as that i wish to open my own cleaning company I thank you God bless you
Not sure what your question is. You just have to change the water as needed. Once the water becomes dirty you have to change it to continue mopping. If the floor is very dirty it might take 3-4 buckets of water to get it clean.
Hey buddy, another great video, informative and fun, you'd make a great teacher...a very hot one!!! Although not too sure about wringing out a mop by hand??? I always use a wringer inside the bucket, BUT it's all about personal preferences. Really enjoyed it, and I wish you and your business even more continued success. Maybe you could do a 'how to clean your pool' vid, wearing some speedos....I'd love to see that!!!....at least think about it!!! Take care buddy 😀👍
Hey AJ glad you are enjoying the videos! Yes how you wring a mop is just a personal preference thing. As long as the job gets done that's all that matters!!
+Clean With Confidence Absolutely I agree mate, and you do a great job. I really envy how in America your homes are so spacious, I wished we had homes like that, and they're so beautifully made too. Once again thank you for a real good video, all the best to you my friend.😊👍👍
I wish you would add affiliate links to your videos because I totally have to go searching for O-Cedar mop and all the materials you use in your videos. I would love to know that you are getting a piece of the pie from all these companies that you are helping. Because of you I actually know what I'm doing and I feel confident and excited to clean more often. I used to hate it, but now I love it.
Are you rinsing the mop periodically? If so, are you using the bucket (with soapy water)? Or are you rinsing in a utility tub or similar? Also, ok to wipe up excess water with a towel?
Yes sir, you rinse the mop periodically in the bucket. Once the water gets dirty you change the water and get a fresh bucket to continue mopping the floors.
I think you may have answered this down below but not sure. I always thought mopping was a two phase job: first--you apply the pine sol as you demonstrate but then two you finish with a "clean rinse mop" to remove any other remaining residue from the floor. Will experiment with just phase one and use a small amount of pine sol and see how that works. Thanks for the video!
Yes sir, you are referring to the slop mopping technique. The first phase leaves the floor really wet and allows the cleaner to loosen up the soil. You can even scrub the floor with a deck brush during this time. After that you dry the floor with phase two.
I started using flat mops since it takes a lot of time to clean the regular mop I just let the bottom part of the flat mop soak in white vinegar & baking soda then rinse & squeeze all the waster out wash with gain moonlight rinse squeeze all the water out & hang it outside
What is your opinion about Bissell Crosswave wet-dry vaccum? I have been doing the manual mopping two phase method for my large ceramic tile floor which is quite exhausting and been thinking of switching to a wet-dry vaccum.
You might try you hand at a spray mop. I feature the spray mop at the end of this video if you are unfamiliar with it. This is the video I released today. Here it is: th-cam.com/video/ChZBj_FM7xk/w-d-xo.html
Recommendations for small apartments? I feel dust-fluffs and hair makes the job more difficult-- even after sweeping. Also, the mop can be unwieldy for small spaces: behind toilet-- is "by hand" the only option here?
I always mop by hand behind a toilet. For small apartments I would buy a spray mop and use it. I demonstration that mop along with a DIY cleaning solution in my video "How To Clean Laminate Floors." I also demonstrate it in my video How To Clean Vinyl Plank Floors."
I really like that you do NOT make people feel stupid. You teach so well and you are really entertaining. Keep it up and thank you. It is very informative!

For a high traffic area I would give it a quick mop once a week.

do you use the mop to mop the whole area in one go or do we have to rince it in clean water and THEN dampen it in soap water?
Not sure what your question is. You just have to change the water as needed. Once the water becomes dirty you have to change it to continue mopping. If the floor is very dirty it might take 3-4 buckets of water to get it clean.

Because of you I actually know what I'm doing and I feel confident and excited to clean more often. I used to hate it, but now I love it.
Thanks for the testimony! I am glad you have found the videos helpful!🙂
Thank you my friend
You are welcome
I started using flat mops since it takes a lot of time to clean the regular mop I just let the bottom part of the flat mop soak in white vinegar & baking soda then rinse & squeeze all the waster out wash with gain moonlight rinse squeeze all the water out & hang it outside
Thank you ❤️

What is your opinion about Bissell Crosswave wet-dry vaccum? I have been doing the manual mopping two phase method for my large ceramic tile floor which is quite exhausting and been thinking of switching to a wet-dry vaccum.
Never tried it actually
Thanks for the tutorial
You are welcome!
I love my spin mop. Thanks for the demonstration

Is there a mop which is easier to handle (but at the same time cheap and durable) for total beginners like me?
You might try you hand at a spray mop. I feature the spray mop at the end of this video if you are unfamiliar with it. This is the video I released today. Here it is: th-cam.com/video/ChZBj_FM7xk/w-d-xo.html
What mop is that . So simple with cotton yarn. Pls let me know the brand & where to get
It is a rayon jumbo mop purchased from Walmart
Recommendations for small apartments? I feel dust-fluffs and hair makes the job more difficult-- even after sweeping. Also, the mop can be unwieldy for small spaces: behind toilet-- is "by hand" the only option here?
I always mop by hand behind a toilet. For small apartments I would buy a spray mop and use it. I demonstration that mop along with a DIY cleaning solution in my video "How To Clean Laminate Floors." I also demonstrate it in my video How To Clean Vinyl Plank Floors."
Um go to the vents take a dry rag and clean them that'll make dust stop flying around
It was very helpful
Great! Glad you found it useful
