    Each one of these is a more informational than the video NTPA shared with Vaughn Bauer.

      Vaughn & others have done well with the quick, basic look at how the sleds work during a run. But I wanted to go more in depth to show the world more of the details inside one of these machines.

    Very interesting, there is actually a lot to do/know as an operator, I often wondered what you guys do behind the glass there.

    I had no idea how involved tractor pulling is. Thank you for making this video. What’s the maximum weight your Allison transmission can you put in the box?

    Is it possible to please film a ride along going down the track and showing us how your using the controls during a pull?

      There really isn't anything to control during a run. Once the green light is on the only thing to do is hang on & ride unless something goes wrong.

      Good catch, yes it is. Just something that was laying around that was handy to use i suppose.

    When you move the box back after a pass, is there some sort of "home" switch that either disengages the drive belts or kicks the Allison into neutral?

    • @00Cummins3500
      @00Cummins3500  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, but that's why we have belts instead of driveshafts or chains for that function. When the box reaches the back, the belt just slips until you bump the Allison back into neutral. After a few hundred times down the track you get used to where the box is & when to knock it into neutral to let it coast back in just the right place. But slipping the belt doesn't hurt a thing.

    Thanks..very interesting.
    Couple of questions. If it's a 2 speed rear, and a 5 speed fab transmission, are you able to choose from 10 gears for the pull?
    Second question: What model Allison transmission is it? 1000? 2000? 3000?

    • @00Cummins3500
      @00Cummins3500  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2 speed shifter has a lockout bolt which holds the fork in neutral when the air is released from it. This allows us to have the driveline in neutral for transport, but the lockout bolt is removed when we go indoor pulling on short tracks, then we do have 10 gears to choose from. The Allison is a MT653.

    Do the track officials also do an inspection of the sled and make you run through all that stuff to check that the lights do that befor each pull?

  • @Legoinventor2012
    @Legoinventor2012 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Could you leave some air in the air ride bags and pull on the axle lift cables for for a better ride down the track?

    • @00Cummins3500
      @00Cummins3500  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, the air dump is either all or nothing. Plus the frame rails must sit down on the adjustable stops for balance purposes. I will try to show that in a future video.

    How much to build these ???

    • @00Cummins3500
      @00Cummins3500  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      10 years ago we could build one for about $250,000 fully equipped, with inflation now it would be well over $300,000. Not including the truck to tow it with.

    imagine someone tried to pull a pulling sled theirselfs like pulling a semi truck
