There are still some giant ballons in the game , but i guess u were just joking , of course they are using an combination of quantum levitation and air filled balloons ... :))
The hot air balloons are most likely for maneuverability, because even though quantum levitation keeps them floating in the air it doesn’t keep them fixed in a single location, how the city moves along a track and the buildings bob up and down

To think it's been 10 years later... Though it's not quite the same Infinite as we got in the final version, it was still fun. But I was blown away by this concept. It seemed like Irrational was out of ideas for their reverse fishtank so they had their head in the clouds, and I was very curious to know who that next gen Eleanor Lamb was. I was not disappointed at all! I do love how concept Elizabeth ended up in the ending of Infinite as an easter egg.

To work as a bumper, they'd need big balloon 'collars' around the buildings' bases that could take some of the docking impact.

Considering Bioshock Infinite introduces the multiverse and makes it clear Booker fails a lot (122+ times, to be precise) this could actually be canon!

Bioshock is the only game that can give me that feeling in my stomach like when you think you're going to die. It's got great voice acting and sound like the yelling is really realistic sounding
Game was like a dream, I dont know of many at all that capture this sort of setting. 1912, colorful, pre wwI, full of misguided innovation of science, engineering and ideology, still very much rooted in tradition and vibrant corruption. It's like a ghibli film, it feels like a timeless starting point of modern human civilisation that's a page away from the arbitrary future, which is kind of the function of the game's plot mechanics around time/dimension hopping. It's the beginning of the era of what could be that's trying to prove a point that the old world is out. Anastasia and Howl's Moving Castle had similar tones, it's just the dream you get stuck in and I'm so surprised they nailed it from a game series I really didn't enjoy beforehand.

the bioshock series turned out to be one of the most amazing games of the last decade, created with a lot of immagination and really captures the player, especially the 3rd one is the real succesor of the first one in terms of greatness

It usually involves starting over from the beginning, but with all your items, weapons, and upgrades from the previous playthrough. Don't get me wrong, I love 1999 mode, but its not new game plus. Now that the game is out...and it was fantastic, I'd still like to play around in THIS version of Columbia -- where the city WAS held up by giant balloons, and where Saltonstall had Charles attack me with Murder Of Crows, and where Comstock was a middle-aged clean shaven politician. Oh, PLEASE let this be DLC...
The PC version, as run on mid-range hardware, makes no such visual compromises, with gorgeous high-resolution textures, detailed faces, and smooth performance...A brilliant shooter that nudges the entire genre forward with innovations in both storytelling and gameplay.

@@321myself Dude, I've played thousands of games, my Steam library is fucking loaded, I also played all previous Bioshocks (Still haven't finished 2). I dug into the story a lot, it makes sense to me. Booker at one point erases his memory to become Comstock due the the horrors he experienced in Wounded Knee, then another alternative Booker that didn't erase his memory gives away his daughter to Comstock. The Lutece Twins decide they want for Booker to be with his daughter, so they set him up to rescue Elizabeth. By the end, Booker realizes who he really was and the Elizabeths drown him to make sure Comstock doesn't come to exist. Booker and Anna/Elizabeth get to live a happy life since Comstock didn't exist to kidnap her. As for Burial at Sea, it's simple: One of the Elizabeths came back to Rapture to set up Comstock (After Booker erased his memory and became Comstock, he decided to live in Rapture since the Lutece Twins opened a tear for him) Elizabeth kills Booker/Comstock, preventing Columbia from becoming a thing. On part 2, Elizabeth ends up giving Frank Fontaine/ Atlas the phrase "Would You kindly" motivating Jack Ryan (Bioshock 1 protagonist) to proceed and finally kill Fontaine turning Rapture into ruins. Everything from here is easy sailing, Subject Delta stops Rapture from continuing to grow and that's it. That's the story of Bioshock. It's hard to understand, but that doesn't mean it makes no sense. About the gameplay. I love the weapons styles and the new plasmids/vigors. The vigors in Bioshock Infinite feel like they actually affect the enemy, in the original Bioshock and 2 they always felt really useless. Sure, shocking the enemy could change the fight for you, but for the enemies that actually mattered, the plasmids barely affected them. Also, about the 2 weapons thing. It's more balanced than the arcadey "Carry all weapons" thing, it allows you to go for your own class and loadouts if you want to. Things like skylines And Elizabeth being able to open tears to different objects and allies makes the gameplay ever so much deeper and fun. Also, what do you mean by final boss? I just played through the game 3 days ago and there wasn't really a "boss". If you mean the zeppelin battle, then dude, that shit was so fucking epic, being able to take control of Songbird to take down huge zeppelins in a dramatic way turns the fight into something straight out of an action movie.

Ken Levine from Irrational says that Columbia is not just a World's Fair, but also a Death Star, and that there is more going on in the trailer than we realise. I think the individual pieces of Columbia are aligning, and that they need to be in a particular configuration, to activate whatever its weapon system is.
Plot twist. Since the rose has less surface area than a human body it should fall faster than the guy in the trailer. But at the very end of the trailer he somehow managed to catch up to the rose, meaning that Elizabeth regained control of the flowers. So eventually he didn't die :D
the fact how alternative universes exists in Bioshock Infinite could speculate that these trailers before gameplay are actually alternative worlds that Booker was in
I like how they switched up the environment a bit. I agree with redsmarties00's statement in that Bioshock was most likely based off corruption in society. I feel like the being underwater gave the person a sense of being trapped- being in the air gives a similar feeling, as portrayed by the trailer. It gives the person a feeling of "I can't truly escape".
The early versions of Columbia truly were ahead of their of their time and were just breathtaking with how realistic the architecture and lighting was. But consoles in that generation weren't truly ready to handle a game that detailed especially when it was also open world connected and teeming with AI.
I was too harsh on this game when it came out, 10 years later and I enjoy the heck out of this game every couple months on ps3. Wish we’d get another. For me, games now days just have no appeal.
As a newcomer to the Bioshock series (I'm playing through the 1st one rn) it's interesting to see the pov of people on this game going from "this game is a disappointment" to "this is one of the best games of all time" I can't wait to get to infinite, in the meantime, wish me luck on Rapture.

I love how every logo for Bioshock has something to do with the environment; the first game had a waterlogged symbol, the 2nd had one encrusted in coral and this one has it wind stripped.
When the Handyman stomps on the Big Daddy figure it's a visual metaphor that this guy is a much worse threat. I love this presentation. I nod to the past and a fresh step forward.
I'm imagining that the beginning of Booker drowning is actually the ending of BioShock Infinite, where Elizabeth's dumb plan to stop an infinitely possible happening failed and instead Booker has been "brought back" to start the cycle anew yet again.
When the trailer first opened and it showed the water and the seascape i was like sweet back to rapture. But then BAM he gets thrown out the window and its a floating city. Brilliant, I was wondering what they were gonna do to make the 3rd one just as spectacular as the previous 2. Hopefully it lives up to the Bioshock name and is just as good as the previous titles.

The 2 weapon system was needed. Otherwise the Elizabeth mechanic of her aiding you with ammunition should you run low wouldn't have worked. the bioshock series turned out to be one of the most amazing games of the last decade, created with a lot of immagination and really captures the player, especially the 3rd one is the real succesor of the first one in terms of greatness
The ending was so beautiful. It talks about alternate realities and hits you right in the feels. Absolutely a masterpiece.

I had forgotten most of the gameplay, but damn is it as good as that first time I played it 10 years ago. For some reason, just got a urge to play it yesterday. It usually involves starting over from the beginning, but with all your items, weapons, and upgrades from the previous playthrough.
Don't get me wrong, I love 1999 mode, but its not new game plus. It's just an unlocked difficulty level.

I had this in my library for awhile and just started playing last night. I'm using a 2700x and RX 480 @ 1440p with 90 fps. The experience is pure Columbia!

Even though I played and loved the first Bioshock before this, I still loved Infinite more.
Now that the game is out...and it was fantastic, I'd still like to play around in THIS version of Columbia -- where the city WAS held up by giant balloons, and where Saltonstall had Charles attack me with Murder Of Crows, and where Comstock was a middle-aged clean shaven politician. Oh, PLEASE let this be DLC...

The gameplay wasn't anything to write home about either, with the whole 2 gun loadout shit, repetitive battles and massive let-down of a final boss. Didn't help that Burial at Sea retconned a bunch of shit from the first games either lol
@@321myself Dude, I've played thousands of games, my Steam library is fucking loaded, I also played all previous Bioshocks (Still haven't finished 2). I dug into the story a lot, it makes sense to me. Booker at one point erases his memory to become Comstock due the the horrors he experienced in Wounded Knee, then another alternative Booker that didn't erase his memory gives away his daughter to Comstock. The Lutece Twins decide they want for Booker to be with his daughter, so they set him up to rescue Elizabeth. By the end, Booker realizes who he really was and the Elizabeths drown him to make sure Comstock doesn't come to exist. Booker and Anna/Elizabeth get to live a happy life since Comstock didn't exist to kidnap her.
As for Burial at Sea, it's simple: One of the Elizabeths came back to Rapture to set up Comstock (After Booker erased his memory and became Comstock, he decided to live in Rapture since the Lutece Twins opened a tear for him) Elizabeth kills Booker/Comstock, preventing Columbia from becoming a thing. On part 2, Elizabeth ends up giving Frank Fontaine/ Atlas the phrase "Would You kindly" motivating Jack Ryan (Bioshock 1 protagonist) to proceed and finally kill Fontaine turning Rapture into ruins. Everything from here is easy sailing, Subject Delta stops Rapture from continuing to grow and that's it. That's the story of Bioshock. It's hard to understand, but that doesn't mean it makes no sense.
About the gameplay. I love the weapons styles and the new plasmids/vigors. The vigors in Bioshock Infinite feel like they actually affect the enemy, in the original Bioshock and 2 they always felt really useless. Sure, shocking the enemy could change the fight for you, but for the enemies that actually mattered, the plasmids barely affected them. Also, about the 2 weapons thing. It's more balanced than the arcadey "Carry all weapons" thing, it allows you to go for your own class and loadouts if you want to. Things like skylines And Elizabeth being able to open tears to different objects and allies makes the gameplay ever so much deeper and fun.
Also, what do you mean by final boss? I just played through the game 3 days ago and there wasn't really a "boss". If you mean the zeppelin battle, then dude, that shit was so fucking epic, being able to take control of Songbird to take down huge zeppelins in a dramatic way turns the fight into something straight out of an action movie.

Ken Levine from Irrational says that Columbia is not just a World's Fair, but also a Death Star, and that there is more going on in the trailer than we realise.
I think the individual pieces of Columbia are aligning, and that they need to be in a particular configuration, to activate whatever its weapon system is.
Plot twist. Since the rose has less surface area than a human body it should fall faster than the guy in the trailer. But at the very end of the trailer he somehow managed to catch up to the rose, meaning that Elizabeth regained control of the flowers. So eventually he didn't die :D

10 years since this game came out... Yes, it ended up way different then what early trailers depicted, but I think what we got was amazing.
Bioshock 2: there was an audio log made by a boy who had a crush on a little sister.
Infinite: the boys of silence.
I like how they switched up the environment a bit. I agree with redsmarties00's statement in that Bioshock was most likely based off corruption in society. I feel like the being underwater gave the person a sense of being trapped- being in the air gives a similar feeling, as portrayed by the trailer. It gives the person a feeling of "I can't truly escape".

The early versions of Columbia truly were ahead of their of their time and were just breathtaking with how realistic the architecture and lighting was. But consoles in that generation weren't truly ready to handle a game that detailed especially when it was also open world connected and teeming with AI.

I was too harsh on this game when it came out, 10 years later and I enjoy the heck out of this game every couple months on ps3. Wish we’d get another. For me, games now days just have no appeal.
As a newcomer to the Bioshock series (I'm playing through the 1st one rn) it's interesting to see the pov of people on this game going from "this game is a disappointment" to "this is one of the best games of all time" I can't wait to get to infinite, in the meantime, wish me luck on Rapture.

When the trailer first opened and it showed the water and the seascape i was like sweet back to rapture. But then BAM he gets thrown out the window and its a floating city. Brilliant, I was wondering what they were gonna do to make the 3rd one just as spectacular as the previous 2. Hopefully it lives up to the Bioshock name and is just as good as the previous titles.
