Very interesting and informative! Well done Ron!
I didn't realise that Ronnie had passed. RIP Ronnie.
Nice to see some old friends playing cards in the canteen 😁
It is with great sadness I have to post this.
Ron Barton sadly passed away recently.
His funeral is on the 1st October 2015 at 1pm.
The location is Saint Gabriel's Parish Church, Prestwich, Manchester M25
Great stuff. But Ron, you were a Guard not a conductor! Look forward to reading the book.
The term Guard was a relic of the tram days, but remained in common parlance even though MCTD's official title for the post was conductor.
Sorry to hear of the death of Ron, but I hope the book is more accurate than this interview as the 81 bus ran from Hightown to Southern cemetary , the bus he is refering to was the 53.
+Anthony Usher Ron Barton did catch the 81 service, as the 53 was a circular route between Queens Road and Old Trafford. To the best of our knowledge, the book is entirely accurate.
+Sonnick Publications Sorry but your incorrect I worked at Queens Road depot the same time as Ron , and he never caught the 81 to Brooks bar the 81 ssrted in Hightown passed the Jewish Hospital then down Cheetham Hill Across the centre of Manchester to Southern Cemetery , Time to get your facts right
Thanks Hazel, we will be in touch with you shortly.

Thank you for your comment. As you will see in the book, the term Guard was a relic of the tram fays, but remained in common parlance even though MCTD's official title for the post was conductor. Hope you enjoy the book.
