So I live in Vienna and I can say that it’s one of the most beautiful cities in Austria. Well you HAVE to visit Vienna in Winter, because that’s when the Christmas markets are “active” and they are soooooo magical. Oh and don’t forget to dress as warm as you can in Winter, because Vienna can be veeeeeeeeeryyyyyyyyyyy cold.

As an Austrian, I appreciate the appreciation for our culture.
The only thing I really don't agree with is the point about jaywalking. I'm not even sure whether it is actually illegal, but what I can definitely tell you is that it absolutely is common here and you'll see and probably also do it all the time.
About sauce on Schnitzel. It's not 'apparently' sacrilegious, it's horrible - don't do it. Why would anyone ruin the nice and crispy Schitzel with some lame sauce. It's just wrong - Germans are like cavemen to us for doing this. Don't do it and if you want to stay safe in Austria, do not ask anyone for it.
Apart from that, Austrians are welcoming and hospitable people and we love to share our culture with you. :)

I had a limited time to travel with a friend by train from Paris to Bucharest in just 10 days. We had stops first in Paris, then Salzburg, Vienna, Budapest, and Bucharest. My favorite stops were both Salzburg and Vienna. Even compared to Paris, it was cleaner and much more affordable. The transportation was amazing, with both elevators and escalators in all the stations to make it easier to travel with luggage. The food and hotels were great and much more affordable, even in Vienna. My next European trip will hopefully be only to Austria so that I can take my time to see a lot more of the country as well as Vienna- the most beautiful city I have ever seen.

I spent 4 days in Vienna the first week of December 2012 and it was magical with all the holiday decorations and Christmas markets. I was also lucky enough to score a ticket to the Vienna Boys Choir Adventkonzert in the Goldener Hall of the Musikverein.

After living in the Munich area for three years, in the Spring of '79, I spent six weeks at a farm house near Spittal an der Drau... until the house caught fire. A Kachelofen ignited the insulation (shredded wood and clay) inside a wall. I got an axe and opened up the wall. Flames came out... and we spent a few hours pouring buckets of water inside the wall. After we thought it was out, since we didn't have a telephone, I ran down to the next farmhouse. I wanted the Bäuerin to tell the (freiwillige) fire department to come to make sure the fire was out. I was thinking a few people. She called the fire department and exclaimed "Feuer! Aneterhof!" A siren went off in the valley... and I could see several cars starting to make their way up along with a firetruck or two. The fire department poured a lot more water into the walls... and told us we did the right thing. One of the Feuerwehrmänner (he must have been at least 18) pointed his nozzle at me and joked "Hands Up!" We had a good laugh.
The last I heard... the owner was actually happy about the house (built in the 1920s) because he would be able to build a new house.
Most of what you said about Austrians applied also to Germans... at least Bavarians... except for staring. People always looked away. I think it had to do with shame about WWII.

Just do not get scammed the checkers always have a badge on their coat with the shield of Vienna.

I would like to point out one mistake tho: Austria does not bann jaywalking, in fact we don't even have a word for jaywalking.
You just have to yield to vehicles if you are crossing without a zebra crossing.
If you are on a zebra crossing you still have to yield to trams and watch out for entitled Karens (of any gender😜) in SUVs who think that laws don't apply to them.

for everyone interesteg in youth culture, here are some austrian bands which are popular right now in Austria. Here is a list and an example-song:
    Bilderbuch ("Maschin", "Plansch")
    Leyya ("Zoo", "The Fall", "Solitude")
    Wanda ("Columbo", "Bolognia")
Naked Cameo ("Shangri La", "Dead Weight")
    Sharktank ("HAPPY", "Too much")
Josh. ("Cordula Grün", "Von dir ein Tattoo")
    Folkshilfe ("Mir laungts", "Maria Dolores")
    Pressyes ("Atlantic Ocean Spray", "Years")
My Ugly Clementine ("Who", "The Good The Bad The Ugly")
One ticket should not be more than 40€. Most tickets will be more like 25€.
Because "big bands" in austria are still kind of "small" compared to Coldplay, Rammstein etc, but we love them.

Its not something I want to see and dont want to risk walking somewhere by accident and accidentally seeing something. I get that it`s not everywhere but i do want to be able to go to a beach without seeing any nudity. For a lot of reasons but mainly safety and boundries. I hope that someone can help me with this, or if the person who made the video could explain the topic a bit more.

An Austrian here Some minor adjustments:
We Austrians do not care how you are pronouncing anything. Never met anyone that does. But we will probably try to teach you to pronounce it correctly, just for fun 😁
And i never thought of why the waiter has to get called to order anything after the initial order. I think noone ever thought of his privacy. We just accepted the situation. Me personaly and i think many more Austrians would love to get asked more frequently if we wanna order something else 🥲
Yeah, NEVER order Schnitzel with a sauce. We actually think that is super strange. I think we do not even offer that in restaurants.
Austrians eat their Schnitzel like this, so keep this in mind: Schnitzel + A slice of lemon + cranberry jam + option 1: cooked potatos (with parsley), option 2: Fries, option 3: Potato salad, option 4(the best option): cooked potatoes with persley and also rice.
Many people also order a mixed salad extra to the Wiener Schnitzel.
Little children often eat ketchup instead of cranberry jam.
AND it is not true, most toilettes at rest stops on the highway are free to use. Toilettes in little shops at rest stops are always to pay for.
    That's it. Good video :D
Ask me for more infromation haha

If you like the mountains or more coutryside go to Hallstatt, Bad Goisern, Bad Ischl or Salzburg (Mozart was born there)….the Wolfgangsee or Salzkammergut is beautiful! From most of the places you can go by train or rent a car. Vienna is not boring at all! Culture, shopping or music…nature also…boat trip on the Donau…so many things to do. Enjoy the coffeehouse culture. ☺️

Vienna is the only capital in the World with its own vineyards, you can go for a hike in the beautiful hills around vienna (all accessable by Tram or bus). There is also a lot of nature in the City, "Donauinsel" for example is a big Island in the danube river there is also a lot of nature in the "Prater" area, its an amusement park surrounded by a wood. There is also a national park which beginns AT the City border its called "Nationalpark Donauauen". There are hundreds of Museums and castles in Vienna and you can make a day Trip to Bratislava, the capital of slovakia, by boat, its called Twin City Liner. If you visit Vienna, you have to go to "Zentralfriedhof" its the biggest cemetery in Austria and one of the biggest in Europe, parts of it are left alone for many decades and nature is coming back, you can see deer, fox and rabbits. Zentralfriedhof is one of my favorite places in Vienna, not many tourists know about it, beside the wild parts of the cemetery there is some really beautiful architecture there. There are a lot of things to do and to see in Vienna. Frankfurt, Germany is really boring, there are no old houses and its the bank of europe, its a business town, not a tourist town. Come to Vienna and enjoy it.

I am planning for Austria in late November for 6 days.
Can you help me what shall I not miss??!!
I have Vienna , salzburg , hallstatt in mind.
Shall I connect it with Prague or no?
What about weather? Rain or no rain?

@@samiaasaad4059 Hello, it may be a little late, but if you want to visit another capital right next to Vienna I would suggest Bratislava, it's just 50km from Vienna and you can get there for example with the "Twin City Liner" down the danube and back.
      Greetings from Vienna 😉

Don't ever used "cheaper" to compare country to country....and no way people confused about these two countries... Austria is full of culture and Australia is not...

Hi...one suggestion: would you kindly remove the yellow banner that is on the screen during the video; a moment or two is fine but it is distracting and partially obscures what you ostensibly want us to see.....thanks!

It's not normal for most Austrians to run around nude at beaches or visit such places. Just a special segment of the population likes that stuff for whatever reason.
As children we always went to the nude beach here at our river and laughed at all ugly, old, nude people as we were hanging from a tree above before we went to our own spot, we also knew our choleric teacher was sometimes there and nobody wanted to see this 50 year old woman with a mullet naked.

Christina, this was quite helpful in my planning. Would you kindly check email? I have sent it some days ago. It is about some additional queries I had regarding my Prague-Austria-Ljubljana scheduled in May 2024. Please. Thanks a lot in advance.

Great Video, I can tell as partly Austrian. But why that Speed talking? You speak in a speed that is hard to follow even for a fluent speaking in British English. Slow down, keep calm and have a Beer. Cheers!

As a non-native speaker of English, I think it's a good way to practice one's listening skills, plus it is super gratifying to be able to understand without any effort 99% of what she saying.

    Not everything is correct
    - mixing Austria with Australia is common only among the north americans
    - Visit Styria if you like wine, otherwise nothing is there. Carinthia, Salzburg and Tyrol worth a visit.
    - you can leave the tips on the table, nothing happens
    - fkk is anything, but popular. Only in a few places allowed. Do a research before. Those places for tourists. So you never see naked people all over.
    - learn german words only if you interested, but don't use it, if not necessary. Very hard to understand german mixed with English accent and mainly in the countryside the staff are not austrians, a few don't speak german, only english.
And do not litter. In Vienna throwing away a cigarette can cost €100.

    • @mndrndck
      @mndrndck ปีที่แล้ว

Streets in Vienna (inner city) are littered with cigarette butts everywhere though. Cigarette butts aside, the streets are virtually litter-free when I stayed there.
