Welcome back to another History Of Mortal Kombat video!
Now into today ‘history of breakdown/analysis’, we will be talking about the god of the Mortal Kombat Series, their respective roles In the universe, how they came to be and what are their fates In the current canon?
Their are many thats exist across the universe but a majority of them are In fact only briefly mentioned In the series so their are many that are left undeveloped or untouched.
Now In this video I will strictly be covering the gods that exist in the main continuity, not ones that exist outside of it BECAUSE their are in fact actually a handful that dont exist outside of the main canon.
They will have a video focussed on them later on next week!
So here I will strictly be focusing on the gods (not elder gods) the roles they play and how they impacted the universe, I really hope you enjoy this one as it toke awhile to put together and I wanted to some what celebrate the reveal of rain for Kombat Pack 2!

Dude I can't even keep up with this shit either they killed Lui Kang like 8 times and it seems several people have killed him, but Raiden seems to be the most common killer of him.

@@3eezy That mean One Being will be the next Liu Kang's opponent...and potentially NRS has to create more villains even powerful than that. The thing is, is a bit of problem right now because NRS make Liu Kang too powerful, like he is the most powerful character right now. This situation is basically like Dragon Ball, Goku keep getting stronger mean more powerful enemy will come. Is good that NRS redeem Liu Kang back to his protagonist path, but I think overdid him making him too overpower right now. The only enemy that can give a threat to Liu Kang in the future is just Titans or someone new who at least a Titans level. Not to mentioned, Kronika is a mother...that could mean Cetrion and Shinnok has a father. I'm not surprised if this "father" want to get revenge on Liu Kang because Liu Kang pretty much whoop his entire family.
We will we are getting a KP2 and another DLC with a Story Expansion

Seeing Raiden with Regular eyes in Aftermath made me laugh , it made me cringe ... in a strange way , not saying it looked bad because the eyes of the characters in MK11 are the best eyes I’ve seen in a game
The concept art of the Earthrealm gods of Fire and Water look pretty cool and I feel would make interesting new entities and characters to play as in a future game. 🙂

Make one game in the series called "Immortal Kombat" where only gods or titans are playable characters. The plot could be a war for control etc.
For consideration: One of Shao Kahn's skins/modes in 11 is titled "god of warfare"; This may be Netherrealm Studios finally flat out telling us what Kahn actually is, and, if true, would make sense out of Khameleon's Armageddon bio that stated that it was as if Kahn got stronger from conflict/"fed on Kombat itself."

Kahn got taken by ONAGA and ONAGA vanished but Kahn is still around which could mean ONAGA is in Kahn now and that’s why u saw the dragon arms in 11 Kahn looks different and the dragon on his hammer is telling u that the hammer is ONAGAS . His face is the logo he just takes human forms to get involved better. The elder dragons gave certain people who made a oath to them power of the dragon . Kinda like Skyrim. ONAGA and kahn want the same thing to be one being .
I mean kotal kahn isn't a blood God. He just uses blood magic because of osh tekkness and kamidagger. His blood magic is probably weaker than even skarlet, yet he has a blood god skin.
Shao Kahn getting stronger from konquests could simply be his soul magic.
Osh Tekk could be an offshoot of "blood gods" though. They clearly have some inherent link to celestial bodies. In any case it's only a possible explanation.

I do not think Fire God Liu Kang will allow Raiden to perish. I think Raiden is willing to die for Liu Kang and the realm. He said Liu and Lao were the closest thing to sons he has.

I think Fire God Liu Kang will stop Shao Kahn from taking over in the rebooted timeline. However, the butterfly effect of this will be Onaga eventually being won over by the One Being instead and starting a campaign to merge the realms.

The fire, earth, and water gods in mythologies could now be Blaze, Tremor, and Rain. But at the time I don’t think those characters were made yet

But with the sheer Power Blaze was wielding at the top of that damn Armageddon pyramid, he just might be THE fire God. At the moment it just seems like Liu is taking that Fire God role, as well as the protector of Earthrealm and the Titan of Time but maybe someone else will take over because Liu is basically doing three jobs at once atm 😂
Rain is one of the strongest kharacters in the franchise and the most powerful ninja as well. He has a lot of substance to his kharacter. He is: 1) water God, 2) Prince, 3) Kombo machine (since MK Trilogy), 4) the King of DLC, 5) wears Purple (the kolor of royalty) and 6) He is gorgeous.
I am really happy Warner bros games has finally valued Rain's huge potential and included him in mortal kombat 11.
Rain should have a spinoff adventure game focusing on his blood ties to Argus, daegon and taven. And him becoming the true King of edenia.
One thing that is certain is that Rain needs to be base roster in mortal kombat 12 and playable in story mode. He deserves it the most since he has been DLC in two games and non playable with a killer design in mortal kombat x.
I ready for Prince Rain this November 17th, 2020 on mortal kombat 11.

Technically speaking Chameleon would be the strongest of all the ninjas since he has all of their moves and as for Rain despite his power he’s always getting written poorly and mistreated which only makes new fans ignorant of him being a “weakling” despite the fact that the dumb new writers don’t understand power scaling.

Rain is a very fleshed out character and has a lot of story lore.

I am tired of Johnny Cage, Scorpion and Raiden being center stage of the story plot. Sigh.....
Plus water is one of the most powerful elements and Rain can use it at very high pressure, force, temperature, make water based weapons, and more!! Plus water in real life is a very vital & important element. In fact, many researchers have said that the next big war is going to be due to having control of water supplies. Since the world population is increasing at an alarming rate.
So, I don't get why some Mortal Kombat fans make fun of Rain's water powers?!?!?!?!?!!!?
** Your idea for a Rain spinoff game sounds spot on and fun. It could also have some RPG mechanics in the gameplay. Rain should achieve God hood in the game.
And I could add two more qualities to your list that make Rain so complete: 7) Intriguing & Charming personality and 8) Badass royal outfits.
Rain's designs stand out in each game and reflects his God status. His personality is also very magnetic and you can see a bit of cokyness and arrogance too. He was very straight forward in MK Armageddon story mode. And I like his voice in MK 11 cuz it fits so well with Rain's ego.
I hope that Rain remains OP and is NOT nerfed because he has always been OP since his creation in MK Trilogy. 💪
If Rain is added to the base roster for mortal kombat 12, as he should be, Rain should open up the Ocean in story mode. Similar to what happened in the Red Sea!!
Rain should also make typhoons and tsunamis in upcoming games.

@@irmaramirez5873 Hm...dude, Scorpion was never being the center in the story plot. He is just a mascot. Yea sure he has his own spot in the story, but he is not the key plot. The first four MK games center around Liu Kang. Deadly Alliance doesn't really have a main character since Liu Kang die and the heroes lost. Deception center around Shujinko. Armageddon center around Taven and Daegon. In MK9, Liu Kang and Raiden is the center of the story. MKX introduced Cassie as a fresh new main character with Johnny Cage was more of co-main character. MK11 bring back Liu Kang as the center of the story. So I don't understand how you tired of seeing Johnny, Scorpion and Raiden as the center in the story when the first two is just important in one game and the last one was never even important in any game plot.
As much as I liked the Shang Tsung ending, there’s no way it’s canon lol. The Liu Kang ending makes much more sense and it sets up the Great Kung Lao to be the new main protagonist.

Piggybacking off of another person’s comment/idea on here: It would be incredibly deep - for an MK plot twist - if Shang Tsung’s Aftermath ending was a lead up to him revealing that Shang Tsung is a mere physical manifestation of just a piece of The One Being, and that The One Being has been waiting and hiding throughout time and space for It’s opportunity to take Kronika’s power.
Possible; Though that's also what Shao Kahn has already been suggested to be (Skin: "Fist Of The One Being. Mortal Kombat 11).
This would be an amazing storyline next game since Shang Tsungs unique ability to absorb souls can be explained with that backstory

I think the earth and water gods should return as the “good guy” versions of Tremor and Rain.
You know, sometimes I don't feel that the God characters are as powerful as they should be, there were moments being considerably outmatched by Mortals, Titans, The One Being, and Onaga. Some of these non-Gods will challenge/usurp them like it's nothing, despite the act being seen as blasphemous in other series.
Aside from that, I'm down with MK12, focusing on Fire God Liu Kang and his team of defenders.
Sooo happy that NRS really fleshed out Rain, the look, weapons and powers. He doesn't just rely on his hydrokinesis, he has absolute control over it-Integrating it seamlessly in his fighting style. He can alter the temperature of water to make lethal icicles, lightning and wind powers to boot (although we don't know it's extent).
Now that we have Fire, Thunder, and Wind god, all we need for MK 1 are earth and water god. Rain and Tremor would make perfect candidates
There’s already a water god just so you know and he appears in Mortal Kombat Mythology Sub-Zero just so you know. He was one of four guardian gods assigned by Raiden to guard the Amulet of Shinnok in the Temple of Elements and acted as the god of water in the Mortal Kombat universe. He possessed the ability to fire jets of water and teleport. He was defeated by the elder Sub-Zero, allowing the ninja access to the fire area of the temple.

Alright, in fact, i just miss Drunken Master variation of Mkx wich i think would be a perfect fit in mk11 compared to the game it was released in (mkx).
The Gods in mortal Kombat never truly die since they will be recinated with same body but no memories of the past if their physical body is destroyed. So this means lufier is not permerntly dead.
Gods can have their souls devoured though and thats what most likely happened to lucifer.
They can’t be killed by mortals, but like the other person commented, they’re souls can be destroyed by the elder gods and other deities.

Well, Titan's don't typically prepare for a final battle against a multi-versal tyrant across another reality because that tyrant exists because of the possibility that they had lost and obtained the power of the hourglass.

I really do hope Taven returns in a future Mortal Kombat game. Among my favorite characters in terms of lore and Konquest's gameplay. Felt like MKX was building up to his return, but clearly MK11 did nothing worthwhile with the Edenian hero. You'd think he'd appear to combat Kronika's threat to the Realms, but if not her, what other great evil threat could he (and formerly Daegon) still be sealed away for to take of in the future?
Lucifer? Onaga? The other Titans out there? Or possibly the One Being itself...? 🤔
Since they were both sealed to battle against Blaze, It's hard to say what reserves for them or more likely for Taven who he should battle against since Blaze used to be the top of the food chain but with Kronika being above the top of food chain with Liu Kang defeating her, Maybe Delia's visions has been altered or mistaken thanks to Raiden's future self sending messages of his past self to change history.
Idk why but I just find it funny seeing Lucifer, literally the embodiment of evil, working together with Raiden and nothing being wrong with it.
All the official content suggests that Raiden simply banished Shinnok to the Nether, like he dropped him off there, then Shinnok immediately came under attack by Lucy. It isn't really a co-op moment. Or at least, that isn't how it comes across in the published material that I'm aware of.

Two things.
1) The number of Kamidogu is seemingly at odds with the number of canon Realms. Such as Nitara's.
2) I really miss MK 1 Raiden. The Classic continuity Raiden is such a better character than the NRS reboot.
Dya reckon the missing Kamidogu are of realms Shao Kahn has already claimed/merged, like Nitara's realm?
@@bingbongdingdong867 I wouldn't be surprised if the Outworld Kamidogu is the result of several combined. Considering most others are just one solid form. It is interesting to speculate on whether the Outworld Kamidogu is an amalgam of many.

History Behind The Warrior!
I have two questions that no one has been able to answer yet. You could make a topic about it if you know the answer.
1. At the end of Mortal Kombat 9, why was Shao Kahn able to resist the combined elder gods forces (+ Raiden)? My guess is that One Being has taken over and he has given him the strength to do so, but I don’t know for sure and no one has explained it yet.
2.What did Shinnok mean when he told Raiden at his torture that he should now know the truth for which he had been denied, now that he was wearing his amulet?

1. Shao Kahn being a threat to the "elder gods" is plotpoint that goes as far back as the second game in the o.g. timeline.
In the "Mortal Kombat 2 Official Magazine," in issue 4, three paragraphs into Shao Kahn's bio/entry it states: "Ever since the end of the first Mortal Kombat Shao Kahn has been bidding his time to initiate a dastardly plan in which he will gain total dominion over not only Outworld, but the Earth dimension as well. He will then pose a challenge that even the elder gods will fear."
Concerning "total dominion"; In the Mortal Kombat II Kollector's Edition comic companion, Shao Kahn claims that "victory will unbalance the Earth's furies" and that his " dark powers will *expand throughout it's universe* and then the wishes of the elder gods will be nothing but a nuisance" to him.
There's an issue there though; Being that immediately before stating this, Shao Kahn *also* insists that he "cannot set foot onto Earth's soil until it's furies are imbalanced."
Imo this seems to indicate a couple of things.
First; The furies were infact already imbalanced by the time Kahn stepped into Earth Realm in Mortal Kombat 9 thereby making the "gods" of Earthrealm less potent as a result.
Second; Kahn's sheer presence in a dimension is cause for universal energy tampering (which Mortal Kombat 3/Ultimate/Trilogy demonstrated with him having the ability to reality warp/merge on a planetary/dimensional scale ["Rayden's" entry in the same Mortal Kombat 2 magazine flat out states that Kahn's victory in the second tourney could result in the "destruction of reality."].), this would potentially include effecting something like the jinsei retrospectively, also reducing the connection between the gods and the Earthly plain in the process.
(We also see an example of this diminishment of the earth "gods" due to Kahn's energy manipulations in the events of the intro to Mortal Kombat 3, where Kahn's invasion and planetary/dimensional merger effectively nerf the "elder gods" of Earth altogether also turning Raiden into a mortal, presumably because it's no longer "Earth" at that point [which they are bound to].)
Finally; In Khameleon's Armageddon bio, she insists that "those who fought him (Kahn) only seemed to make him stronger. It was as if he fed on Kombat itself."
With one of Kahn's Mortal Kombat 11 skins labeled as "god of warfare" it's likely that Kahn was hopped up on a zenkai boost from starting a planetary invasion (warfare), and feeding off the energy of it on top of the souls from the soulnado before that.
(This also isn't something that exists without possible cross references as the Mortal Kombat vs D.C. game ending for Kahn insists that he escaped the Phantom Zone because the negative energy of it actually made him stronger instead of the opposite, and the energy was pretty negative by the end of Mortal Kombat 9.)
For further consideration: Kahn's power scaling in the o.g. timeline is insanely o.p. There are two references in the Mortal Kombat 3 Official Kollector's guide that insist that Kahn's power was too large to be contained in one realm/that his power grew so large that one realm became confining. Kahn suggests this to be the case in the Mortal Kombat 2 Kollector's comic but the magazine cements that isn't hyperbole alone.
Beyond that, Kahn's Armageddon ending actually gives an integer for Kahn's Blaze/elemental power multiplier, stating that absorbing Blaze made Kahn 10x stronger. So if there are 8 known realms at that time and Kahn was 10x weaker than his game ending version (being capable of merging all the realms and/or causing Armageddon/shattering reality), then Kahn was necessarily .8 x universal before invading Earthrealm and absorbing every soul on the planet as he had done so in the first timeline. This is goofy levels of power consistent with his statements he suggested in the Mortal Kombat 2 comic about his dark powers spreading into Earth's "universe."
Idk that the Mortal Kombat 9 Kahn is necessarily as powerful as his o.g. counterpart, and, I also don't know that he was necessarily weaker either.
From my experience, most people assume that Kahn was amped from the souls he consumed via soulnado earlier in the game and that alone is explanation enough, however the o.g. timeline indicated that the sheer act of walking into Earthrealm was enough to make Kahn a threat to the "elder gods."
Likelihood: Kahn was zenkai boosting in a warzone, and the "elder gods" were being nerfed by his mere existence on the Earthly plain and his manipulation of energies around him.
This may or may not be exactly the case, but as far as the puzzle of the Mortal Kombat mythos goes, it's as close to what one can estimate imo and at the least, is consistent in terms of lore dating back to the 90's.

Imo; I'm not sure info about T.O.B. is common knowledge to the Mortal Kombat verse. Raiden is a relatively young "god" compared to someone like Shinnok. The intro to the Mortal Kombat 4 Kollector's comic companion insists that Earth was a new realm and the Mortal Kombat Mythologies game secrets guide insists that Rayden was a young "god." Both sources seem to indicate Shinnok was unprepared for Raiden entirely like he had no idea what he was walking into when they started rumblin'.
It's likely that Raiden was created with the singular intent to be a protector of Earthrealm and then programmed for it without ever knowing any of the reasoning for how come (the same way he's entirely ignorant to what actually counts as a transgression from Kahn in the "elder gods" perspective).
In other words, he maybe didn't know anything about the separation of the realms being an ongoing run-around scheme to keep The One Being from coming back, or that Mortal Kombat is basically an on-going filibuster to keep the realms separated and under some form of controlled outcome from the actions of mortals... He's just doing his duty and being used like a pawn while being convinced of said duty to the point of being not unlike a zealot (Even Fujin seems taken aback at Raiden's lack of personality/humanity for instance.).
The Mythologies game secrets guide book intro also insists that Shinnok's amulet allowed him to traverse the realms without challenge and somehow prevented the "elder gods" from intervening with him when he went to Earth with the intention to use the Earth to give himself "unmatched" power.
The Mortal Kombat 11 game ending talks about how the "elder gods" had lied about being individual beings and left absent any information about them(/and presumably their realms and worlds) being parts of T.O.B. right before Shinnok merges the realms and awakens it as it consumes reality.
*Maybe Shinnok's "truth" in this instance was that The One Being was an inevitable conclusion (at this point we know of at least 4 different sources that are directly or indirectly acting in the favor of reforming T.O.B: Shao Kahn, Onaga, Shinnok and the Kamidogu daggers (5 if you include Havok [6 if yo include Rieko]).
*Maybe his truth was that the "elder gods" where not omni beings at all but parts of T.O.B.
*Maybe it was that Earth was a tool to be used and/or consumed for the purposes of these "gods" akin to the behavior of The One Being itself, because that's what they really are, and not something to be protected and kowtowed for/over.
*Maybe it was some combination of all these things.
I'm not sure for certain but it's imo probably one of these aforementioned possibilities/probabilities.

Mk11 has fucked up a lot of continuity. Raiden and Fujin have been rebooted to be demigods and brothers.
Also, I think the bad ending of aftermath is the official one. Look a Fujin's clothes in all his profiles in the game. It's the same as the clothes he wears in Shang Tsung's ending. Just like how all the revanants are set as the official profile pic. I'm just saying don't be surprised when the next MK game starts with Shang Tsung ruling everything. Like Shao Kahn in Armageddon.

Can well agree of all the gods, Argus was the worst? Like the Elder Gods turned to him to stop the end of the realms, and to do this, he relied on a plan that needed SO much bullshit to line up just right to even have a chance of working and in the end, for whatever reason, didn't even work? Seriously, he knew EXACTLY where Armageddon would unfold, instead of using his fuckin sons, why not just set the trap to trigger without his sons and have Blaze basically self-destruct once the time came for the pyramid to appear? Seriously, all this time Blaze could have been killed and his power stolen and he relied on a vague signal of which he never apparently thought to clarify to the guardian dragons watching over his own children. This man was a fuck-up of planning.

Never been a fan of the Shao being a god theory. It just doesn’t make sense with him being a lackey to Onaga. Why would a god play second fiddle to a king?
To me I always felt that Onaga was the god or at the very least a demigod. Being half dragon I just figured the God who was his father was a dragon god and his mother was mortal. Him being a demigod would also make sense why he would quest for immortality and more power… he wants to become either a full god or the one being.
