Welcome to another Mortal Kombat 11!
Now In today history of breakdown/analysis I will be talking about a beloved fan favourite character In the series, the saurian survivor and lizard In the series, Reptile!
Now In order for me to really talk about reptile I need to not only go back to that of the original timeline, but I need to explain the fall of zaterra, the desturction of their home as well as the matriach and 'head' of the saurian race, It reveals alot of information about the character that has otherwise been left untouched!
So In this video I will not only be going though the entire characters backstory but also where the saurians derive from and what phyically and mentally happens to reptile over the course of the series, as It Is a slow burn for him till he emerges as the host of the dragon king Onaga!
So I will be covering every small bit of information we do have about the characters all the way up to the current continuity where he Is unfortunately missing.

A truly wholesome character. All he ever wanted was to bring back his race.
A lot of people say "man, i wish this certain character would return" & barley even use them. I remember before Nightwolf & ShangTsung made it in mk11, the whole community was saying "Bring back shang & nightwolf" & those same people don't even play with them. I don't see a lot of shang/nightwolf players which sucks because those characters aren't as bad as some people say
Unknown the only reason I play Shang Tsung is for Ermac’s one ability, I would prefer Ermac being back over Shang Tsung.

Unknown why is it a dumb reason? It was clearly part of their marketing strategy to get people wanting to use Shang Tsung by having him copy the missing ninjas that aren’t part of the roster.

Reptile is underrated he's not really evil he just want his race back I want a story expansion of him but with Khameleon and Chameleon they the last 3 of their race.
We don’t know if the male Chameleon is Saurian actually. We just think he is.

I said this for myself, Reptile was and still is a misunderstood character and is more of an Antihero than a villain. He deserves more respect and also make him more relevant and badass again

The human looking Reptile was my favorite ninja when I was growing up playing MK. I wish it was a skin for MKX, that would have been soo cool!
Could've been for MK11 especially considering how Noob Saibot, Sub-Zero and Scorpion have MK2 skins but the devs chose to leave him out in favor of Kollector.

I agree keep saying reptile been garbege every sense they made him into a actual reptile and when they starting making scorpion and sub zero the main thing and I'm a scorpion fan
they should keep a ninja-like outfit (modernized like subzero and scorpion ones, but still ninja looking) with the green color but have all his skin covered except for the eyes. There they can keep the reptilian characteristics and get the best of both worlds. It would be some sort of demonic ninja like Noob Saibot.
For Reptile being the first unlockable fighting game character, his potential sure was completely wasted. Idk why they made him such a jobber
Reptile is definitely my personal favorite the the MK games, and seeing him constantly getting his ass handed to him to drive the story of each game's actual protagonists always makes my day much sadder than it should be; it was refreshing to see him maintain his sanity and possess an earnest friendship with Kotal Kahn in the new timeline, as opposed to the hell he went through in the original. I'm just hoping that his ending in MKX is what canonically happened to him after the game and explains his absence at this point.

Reptile will always be my favorite mortal kombat character. I hope that hes given the same treatment Baraka gets in mk11. Both are kinda just treated as weak henchmen but Baraka was finally given the respect he deserves. Hopefully they do the same to Reptile
Reptile is my favorite character in MK and as long as he is included in something then I will be happy. I'm not mad he didn't make MK 11 but if he did I might've been discontent with him serving Kronika. Do I want him back? yes I do. And like Smoke I will wait for however long it takes.
The Deadly Alliance Trilogy was literally the most high profile Reptile has ever been. Albeit most of it didn't involve him directly.

I'm pissed off that Reptile didn't get some sort of chance in Mortal Kombat 11 for being a character in the story, you'd think considering his backstory, Reptile would probably have a strong motive for being in MK 11
NRS just kept him for troll his fans along with Ermac both simply disappear without reason no dead . Ending seemingly not canon.
@John de Snivy According to some of the members of the development team, Reptile was planned to be DLC for MK11 and apparently was actively being worked on until those plans fell through. I feel your pain though as I was pretty pissed that he didn't make it as a playable character. I'll wager he might be in the next game though we don't know if it will be on the main roster or as DLC. I honestly think in general NRS have always done him dirty in the story as he always gets treated like a jobber which is such a waste of potential for the character. The 3D era games on PS2 actually had some pretty good story ideas for his character but they never really expanded on that which is a shame. Fingers crossed he will make into MK12 and actually get redeemed like what MK11 did for Baraka.

It doesn't matter what game comes out, I ALWAYS will want Reptile to be a playable fighter. When I got MK4, he was the first person I ever beat the game as(though the ending pissed me off....fighting everyone in the tower, only to be murdered by Shinnok?). I really hope the next MK11 combat pack includes him. I love his new design from MKX and wish he wasn't just a foe to beat in the story modes. He deserves better.
Reptile has been my favorite ninja since day 1. Don’t care if they made him like he is in mkda or not, he will always be my number 1 ninja. He wasn’t really evil to begin with. He just wanted to go HOME to his own time.
Yes, and honestly it really shows the caliber of the 'heros' in the series. I guess if you're a pretty girl with nice knockers, it's okay that you used to serve the bad guy, cause oh hey you had a change of heart ^^. But a guy who is blackmailed, basically enslaved and just trying to ensure what remains of your race is treated decently and trying to revive them so you have a people again? Terrible, awful, eternal damnation for you!

I'd love it if they expanded upon Reptile's position under Kotal. It seems that Kotal is Reptile's only friend and that seems like something that could be expanded upon

Reptile deserves way more love and I feel it's beyond time we've learned about his past as well as the realm of Zaterra.
Would love for his story to grow and have more presence; chameleon and khameleon too
The best way to describe Reptile is a character who looks like he can kill you in no time yet always gets his ass kicked. I would love to see him return in the future and with the other Chameleon/Kameleon characters to add more variety. It would be great to see one character focus on speed and combo strings while another focuses on stealth and heavy damage.
Would be nice if Mk grew the reptile, khameleon, and chameleon storylines
I wonder if they will ever make Khameleon and Chameleon playable again in the future. I would love to see that in a future Mortal Kombat game.
I heard rumors that supposedly the male Chameleon was supposed to be DLC and utilizing lots of moves and abilities from the missing ninjas known as Reptile, Ermac, Smoke and Rain but was dropped in favor of Shang Tsung. If this was true than it was a huge mistake since he would’ve easily been the best selling DLC alone just like Triborg was in MKX.

I am curious to find out that if Khameleon was in a future MK game, she would have Kitana, Mileena, Jade, and Tanya just like Armageddon with some of Skarlet's powers put in her move set.
Reptile's primary or secondary costume should be the one from the first Mortal Kombat movie.

I love Reptile. He should not be the jobber that he is especially seeing as how difficult it was to get him to appear in the first game. Imagine winning the royal rumble coming in as the first entrant only to earn Santino Marella in a non title match.

I love seeing Shang tsung with an RPG
"He is defeated." was the most common sentence in the video.
One of my fav character and it's like Netherrealm disrespect him. However he is really cool, his motives, story and skills. And it it nonsence that he is beaten all the time. I mean he can be invisible, split acid and had a shapeshifting ability - which I liked him the most.
If he would find his race again he would be still motivated - to protect them. Moreover, other saurins could becoma characters - as there are more edenians, shokans and cyborgs. I don't see any reason, why he couldn't be more important.
Just imagine how different outlook could he has in MK11, and how great fatalities could he perform.
I think no doubt, the ninjas have the best backstories in this franchise.
It was all downhill from Mortal Kombat 4 onward :'(

I can’t say anything because i wasnt born that time but i grew on mk9 i started playing it at the age of 4 so it was my favorite game and i think that mk9 was better than a lot of mk games I am not saying mk 4 but like the x and more
I've played every mk and in my opinion it never really went downhill it just evolved, each era had or has it's own charm to it and does some things better than others.

It would be nice to see Reptile and Khameleon in the next game. Maybe NRS can explore what their relationship is like. Are they allies? Are they rivals? The possibilities are endless I tell ya!
Ever since Ed Boon announced that Liu Kangs story is finished. I think Reptile, Noob Saibot, Taven, and a few others still need their arcs to come to an end. Reptile deserves to bring his race back, Noob Saibot should return as Sub Zero or something new with Ice and Shadows, stuff like that.
I'm not clear on why the revival of his race would mean the end of his story. Considering realms seem to be under constant threat of being taken over, it'd make sense once his race was restored, that he'd want to be at the forefront of honoring any alliances / fighting against any threat that his/their home would face.... Actually I'd argue he'd be more motivated at that point.
Wow, Reptile went from being a super difficult boss in MK1, to being the most easily defeated mosquito throughout the rest of the series.

One of the reason i love Mk shaolin monks (alternate history for MK2) is that Reptile is one of the coolest characters when it comes to fighting. Literally at a similar level than Scorpion. Teleporting, commanding a big snake, throwing a barrage of massive explosive balls from a distance while you have to dodge it and when you play as Reptile he has the longest combo of the entire cast. His design was really cool. Now looks weird

Reptile is my nr. 1 in the games. I really like his story and motives. He has always been looking for a way to restore his race. In Deadly Alliance/Deception he got the biggest involvement in the series I believe, since Onaga used him as a vessel. I would really like to see him back in the games!

In a future game, I want Reptile to rescue a Saurian Matriarch, with her presence restoring Reptile's Human form and intellect, boosting his fighting skill again, and freeing him from his destructive cycle of allying with the forces of evil to save his people.
A growing Saurian faction allied with the forces of Earthrealm would be cool af, and serve as an effective counterbalance to the introduction of new and deadlier evil forces to drive future MK Universe stories. Varying degrees of Reptilian skin and appendages amongst the additional playable and non-playable Saurians would be cool, too.

Reptile is an amazing character who gets treated like a jobber in almost every entry in the series. I mean he has such great story potential that hasn't been tapped into yet and even though he is labeled as evil, I don't think he is at all considering all he wants is to bring back his people. When you take his motives into account I'd argue hes much closer to a good guy or anti-hero though he is willing to do whatever it takes to succeed in his goal even if its at the expense of others. MK12 needs to do for Reptile what MK11 did for Baraka.

Turning reptile into a lizard rather than a ninja was the biggest mistake they ever made
Reptile is a legend even tho his master's/bosses got defeated multiple times from each tournament & invasions but taking part of the dragon king omaga since being beamed by the demon king egg casted outworld where Shao Khan betrayed the one being until getting his revenge but like other bosses they lose by earth realm fighters Ermac, Nightwolf & i forgot his name but did learned from everyone from different realms to defeat The Dragon King once an for all

Just about everyone whose anyone is has had an redemption or revamp in the series I could truly see a heel change for the Green Ninja Reptile seeing how he’s actually from earth realm he could easily be persuaded by fire god to join the side of light and they could feature Khameleon in helping him become a hero/Champion for there home Zaterra and use chameleon in the place of Reptile as the Villain Traitor of their home

If Onaga is in Mortal Kombat One I would love to see a slight redesign as I always thought Onaga’s hands looked to big for his arms/body so to see what a new redesigned Onaga would look like in 4K HDR would be amazing

The visual of the constant spamming of the jump kick in DA and the story of Reptile being fooled again is fucking brilliant juxtaposition.
