Historic line of Magnus s tournaments recaps by Levy: Step 1: Magnus is done Step 2: Magnus is back Step 3: Magnus is absolute monster and won tournament
Levy, I bought your book How to win at chess, I was 600 when I did. Throughout these last 6 months until now I reached 1200 elo thanks to your book from beginning to end. The way you explain everything about chess is fascinating and honestly, I consider you are a great teacher by the techniques you use to teach. I've learned a lot by watching your videos too, old and news. I hope you get GM soon, but I know you will, you definitely deserve it. Have a nice day for anyone who reads this comment 😊

Small correction. Dubov's one-arm pull-up is not insanely strong for a chess player. That's an insanely strong, period. I am an advanced calisthenics athlete but also a huge chess fan. I was shocked when i saw Dubov doing one-arm pull-ups. But i absolutely fell down on my ass when i saw him doing one-arm muscle-ups. To put it in perspective, it's about the same level in calisthenics as 2770 in chess. I am not even sure Dubov is a professional chess player. Imagine being 2700+ in two sports lol.
@naoxi1 Because less than 0.001% of active fide players have hit 2700 as where less than 0.001% of calisthenics people can do a single arm pullups or muscle up.
I can do a one arm pull-up, that's not 2770 level (assuming 2850 would be peak in calisthenics). A one arm pull-up would maybe be 1800-2000, the muscle up (while not clean), maybe 2200 or lower. I'm very light, and Dubov appears to be as well, so these body weight exercises aren't that difficult (or difficult in general once you get practice). There are only 133 players to have ever reached 2700+, there are tens of thousands of people able to do a one arm pull-up. Doing something like an iron cross or full planche is way harder.

What's funny is that Norway was never actually that much of a "chess country" like India or russia etc. But then, all of a sudden some guy from Norway named Magnus Carlsen became the greatest world champion as well as the greatest ambassador for chess.
18:48 The rule about bad and good bishop still applies. What is important in this position is the fact that there are no blocked pawn chains, and that black has space and time to move his quenside pawns to dark squares to accommodate his bishop, and white cannot disrupt that plan.
I can't believe i live in a world where watching professional chess recaps is a thing but i love it and yours are the best. I love how passionate you are and the analagies you use to explain positions and styles
I'd assume it's a balance of natural talent and discipline/hardwork. I hate to admit it but even if I study and practice chess starting from this moment until the day I die, I just know that I won't get to that level. Simply because I know I can't remember chess games/moves/positions from even a week ago. But these grandmasters can remember games and positions from decades ago.
I will never get bored of Carlsen glazing vids. Becuase the truth is Carlsen is some what of an anomaly in chess. Federer, Williams, Ray Robinson, Usyk, Rijker, Jordan all dominated in their respective sports, they transcended generations and there simply won't be others like them for quite some time. Appreciate these athletes while they are acive.
