That's my favourite bit too lol, the reluctant train. This is such a weird game, I loved the weird little idiosyncrasies more than the actual game's mechanics
I have a CoolBit for you. in Animal Crossing New Leaf, you can find Totaka's song in Club LOL, but you might have to wait a while to hear it. Also Gulliver talks about places and things from past Mario games, and one of them is about Zelda the Link to the Past. You can only find the zelda Easter Egg when he needs help remembering about his trip to Jappan. If you go into the fortune teller's hut you can see a symbol of the Triforce on her doormat.
I know a little 'Cool Bit': In LEGO Universe, there is an item you can get that is called the Retro Daredevil Shirt. It's red with a blue and white stripe down the middle and two 'pockets' with the same blue and white design as well as having two white stars on it's left side. Surprisingly this references the LEGO Racers series as a character named Scooter wears this exact same shirt
COOL BIT: In Lego City Undercover there are random white papalardos ice cream stands around ton, and if you shoot them with the paint gun repeatedly it plays a jingle (possibly the Papalardo theme) and gives the umbrella red and green stripes on top briefly!
Of all of Andre's videos, Cool Bits are my absolute favorites. They let me know about secrets I may not have been aware of, and they are simply irresistible. Plus, Andre puts in the same awesome work in these videos as he does the rest of his videos. I look forward to checking out even more Cool Bit videos (as well as re-watching all the older Cool Bit videos) in the future!
Here is another secret nobody knows: On the title screen, hook a regular controller intro controller port 2 and wiggle the controller left and right, whilst barely touching the contacts. This will load your saved composition and play it off.
Stunt race FX/ Starfox Cameos On the "Sky Ramp" track, three Arwings fly above the stage in formation, performing tricks. They appear twice per lap, each time in a different place.
This might not be intentional, but I couldn't help but share it. In Game and Wario, there's an option to "have X help you unlock a game" on new users. If you do do it, a sound will play and the game will be unlocked. The sound that plays is actually the sound in Super Paper Mario when opening doors!
Saw this too! he says "I haven't met people this nice since bobbery of rogueport!" or something for the TTYD. Bobbery was the bomb-omb captain that joins your party :]
I know a 3DS secret. When you start a DS game, the screen is in the DS lite shape, but when you hold L,R,and select, start the game and the screen will look like the regular DS screen
Oh I got that one too! I love refrences to games I love. Now if only he has one that related to the Glitz Pit or Dreamland, or maybe even the Pik-planet if we were lucky.
Actually most of these features returned in Super Mario Maker, but this video came out in 2013, and at the time we had no idea we were going to have a sequel (Kind of) to Mario Paint two years later.
I have a cool bit. In Yoshi Touch & Go, go into marathon mode, and when you get to a mountainous area where the win is blow, just before the end of the area, pause the game, wait 3 minutes and 45 seconds, and Totaka's song will play.
Wow brings me back when I was 5! That game was my favorite. Thanks for the memories bro. Nintendo should bring this game for Wii U it would be cool with the gamepad!
He's talking about in the past the thumbnail would show off what the final boss would look like, which inturn would ruin the surprise for the players that didn't get there yet. Ie Bowser in NSMBU, Dry Bowser in NSMB2, and so on.
Another Cool bit is that when you get the big bro hat or shirt when you put it on it will play a high speed mario theme song. Also in the photobooth if you hold L or R they give you effects like sepia and black and white. Moreover, if you talk to Sable in the Able Sisters enough times she will get a Sewing Machine where you can scan QR codes and get cool patterns from the Internet. Just some cool game features are that sometimes a thunder storm occurs and you can hear thunder and see lightning.
Kirby, Mario, Star Fox Stunt Race FX In the background of all races there are advertising billboards and on some of them are images of either Mario, Kirby or Fox McCloud. They even appear next to one another sometimes.
there are two cool bits in animal crossing new leaf in the exact same place. One is Totaka's song where you have to wait a while (or a long time) and you hear it. The other one is picture of Rawest forest from super Mario rpg, but instead of Mario being lost, it's K.K. Slider. The location of this is in club L.O.L. when DJ K.K. is there.
Totaka's song was found in ssbb if you go 2 the animal crossing stage kk slider will be there from 8:00 to 12:00 he will play a song if u don't fight but listen u can hear it
Also a rainbow might occur sometimes and it can be single or if you're lucky a double rainbow. The last Cool Bit is that if you have 3 gold nuggets and give them to the blue alpacca at ReTail along with 10,000 bells he will make a special golden furniture which is really cool. Well that is all the Cool Bits I have. Hopefully they are featured in a later episode. Thanks!
Totaka's Song Challenge! To do it, count how many games you have that have been claimed to contain Totaka's Song and make a checklist for them. Each time you find or unlock one, tick it off. You can make the challenge even harder by reading the list on where you can find them on the internet, but instead of being able to check it any time; this time you only have less than 20 Minutes to memorize/read it and you can only view it once each week.
Ahh! I'm freaking out over that secret when you click the shooting star... I knew there was something there, just knew it, but I was never quick enough to catch it. My big sister said it was impossible and that I should stop wasting my time... But then we got the official Mario Paint strategy guide (worth every penny I should say), and one of the sidebar thumbnail screenshots actual showed all those sprites coming down! And I was like "See? See!? That's what happens when you get the star!", but my big sister simply said "No... someone just made an exact copy of the title screen's P secret in-game, and just stuck a bunch of stamps on it..." And that was that for nearly 30 years. Until now - sweet vindication! Though when I showed this to my big sister, she has no recollection of this interchange between us. Naturally. I now wonder which of my other childhood video games paranoias were actually true all this time...
I found some Cool Bits on Animal Crossing New Leaf. One is that K.K. has a song called K.K's song and it plays Totaka's Song. Another is that when you wake up Gulliver on the beach sometimes he will say that you are "As nice as the residents from Ricco Harbor" which is a reference to Super Mario Sunshine. Another Cool Bit is that in Club Lol you can change the gyroids on the stage if you come before 8 p.m. Thanks! I have some more but ran out of characters
@gamexplain I found an awesome cool bit in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. In the boss level in the Mario Zone this an opening which leads to a lot of coins. Look at one of the Lego like bricks it says N&B a reference an old Nintendo toy similar to Legos which is what this level is built up of
In Zelda Twilight Princess, you can perform the "Flourish Finish" after defeating a large enemy by waiting until they explode, then sheathing your sword
hey Andre, did you know in most of the mario kart games if you are in first place the music get a little bit more energy, (i'm mainly talking about mario kart 7)
Yeah but Art Academy is only for drawing and painting, Mario Paint has more forms of art like music, animation and it has a few games on it. The mouse is unneeded too with the touch screen
I have a suggestion for a Cool Bits moment. In Pikmin 1, have any of your Pikmin carry you back to their base. They'll try to put you in the Onion, but you won't fit. But what does end up happening is the Onion shoots out fireworks. Also the first game to feature Totaka's Song is X, a Japanese Game Boy game
Tip: if you plug in a second controller to the SNES console, you can press Start (or whatever the button is) on P1's controller to start without clicking Mario. If I am incorrect on anything, you can tell how in another cool bit.
in super smash bros melee there is a exclusive version target stage and music when you choose ice climbers on brake the targets from 1 player mode that is the 8 bit version of thier only game in the nes that the moving platforms are the clouds from the game
On Mario Kart 7 dino dino jungle, there's a sign with the sun from Super Mario Sunshine. After the first sign, you see a bit, but then turn around and you can see it.
Cool Bits for Animal Crossing New Leaf If you cut down a tree with a special design for the rings, occasionally mushrooms will show up. One mushroom, that looks similar to a Super Mushroom from the Mario realm, when eaten, increases the players size and immediately goes back to normal height. Possibly a nod to Mario's taunt from the Super Smash Bros. games.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, if you look in the middle house of Pokemon Stadium 2 while it's in ice mode, you can see a picture of Masahiro Sakurai's cat.
Stunt race FX/ Starfox Cameos On the Night Cruise stage, crash into all 4 signs labeled StarFox. After ramming all 4, an Arwing will fly overhead and drop a powerup.
and in kirby's dreamland 3 several nintendo character appear in one time in certain levels on certain stages like the grassland level chao and goku appear in stage 4 and Donbe and Hikari and R.O.B. from sand canyon on stages 4 and 6 and samus from the iceberg level on stage 2
My favorite cool bit is in (and please dont judge me about it) Call of Duty Black ops, In zombies, sometimes if you play as Tank Dempsey on the map Kino Der Toten (Theatre of the Dead) He will sometimes break the forth wall by saying quotes such as "Hey player, DROP THE CHIPS AND GET ME SOME AMMO!" Richtofen also does this "I've been recognized by Treyarch.. i mean the Illuminati" Which is a nice touch and is pretty freaking funny when you hear it out of random.
on mario pain if you set at the paining screen the little dog will pop out of his box :D loved this game growing up seems like a reboot would work really weal on a 3ds or wiiu with there touch screens.
Do Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 games. When you play the 20 km race walk, Half way through the event the pace speeds up and the music is the star theme from Super Mario Land.
animal crossing new leaf has totaka's song too, just do the same thing you would on the ds. and on thursday's dj kk will play totaka's song in a part of the music.
I've got 2 coolbits in Pikmin 3, 1: select 45 reds and 55 yellows in tropical wilds and they will hum luigi's mansion theme. 2: select 20 pikmin of each colour pikmin at the formidable oak and they wiil hum a song, I don't know which one.
It really wouldn't make much sense since there are a lot of non-mario related and still fun drawing games on the wii u eshop or whatever it's called. And I believe the art academy series isnt going to wait for the next handheld to continue
hey gamexplain you should do a cool bits for mario 3d land when you shoot the things (not sure what they are) with a fireball then the door opens and plays rhe zelda tune. its in a desert level i think
Does that train say "Nope" when you click on it?
All aboard the nope train!
And then use magic to replace the Nope with F*ck.
John Bigless lol
*engineer intensivies*
Paradoxical Outcome no, it said a weird version of “Chew”
That's my favourite bit too lol, the reluctant train. This is such a weird game, I loved the weird little idiosyncrasies more than the actual game's mechanics
The best title screen!
Link 21 its in smm too
I have a CoolBit for you. in Animal Crossing New Leaf, you can find Totaka's song in Club LOL, but you might have to wait a while to hear it. Also Gulliver talks about places and things from past Mario games, and one of them is about Zelda the Link to the Past. You can only find the zelda Easter Egg when he needs help remembering about his trip to Jappan. If you go into the fortune teller's hut you can see a symbol of the Triforce on her doormat.
mario maker referenced this!!
Correction: They referenced the title screen, not the Totaka’s Song Easter egg
I know a little 'Cool Bit':

every game shoud have a titlescreen like this
Of all of Andre's videos, Cool Bits are my absolute favorites.
Totaka's song is also featured in "K.K. Song" for the Animal Crossing series and I was shocked when I heard it here of all places
Here is another secret nobody knows: On the title screen, hook a regular controller intro controller port 2 and wiggle the controller left and right, whilst barely touching the contacts. This will load your saved composition and play it off.
Stunt race FX/ Starfox Cameos
On the "Sky Ramp" track, three Arwings fly above the stage in formation, performing tricks. They appear twice per lap, each time in a different place.

Saw this too! he says "I haven't met people this nice since bobbery of rogueport!" or something for the TTYD. Bobbery was the bomb-omb captain that joins your party :]
The yoshi beat changes while Totaka's Song is playing. You can also click on yoshi to make his... mounting noise
On the 3DS Home screen, highlight the settings and blow on the screen. The icons will spin, revealing a secret image on the back of on of the icons.
I know a 3DS secret. When you start a DS game, the screen is in the DS lite shape, but when you hold L,R,and select, start the game and the screen will look like the regular DS screen
2:11 DOH! Geez i love that sound
John Bigless it's the NOPE train
There's also another secret in mario paint where if you do not touch the controller a janitor will appear to clean the screen.
The music when you press the "P" is a remix of the main/athletic theme of "Mario Paint"
That dog sound-effect along with the icon is vailable in Warioware D.I.Y! that's crazy coooooooooool.
Oh I got that one too! I love refrences to games I love. Now if only he has one that related to the Glitz Pit or Dreamland, or maybe even the Pik-planet if we were lucky.
This game helped begin my career as an animator when I was a kid! ^_^
When you click the shooting star and a load of stuff falls down, one of the falling objects was the moon from Majora's Mask.
THAT'S WHY I KNOW TOTAKA'S SONG! IT'S BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR 11 YEARS, THANK YOU ANDRE!!!
Actually most of these features returned in Super Mario Maker, but this video came out in 2013, and at the time we had no idea we were going to have a sequel (Kind of) to Mario Paint two years later.

Turn on auto-generated captions and go to 2:27 to learn that the SNES could read your mind.
Lol
it says and even your thoughts LOL
thats kinda creepy
+Mishater Arex what?
i had auto generated captions the whole time but i didnt c any words pop up
That wasn't a cool bit... It was an AWESOME one! I still remember this game from years ago, but never knew about these secrets!
Wow brings me back when I was 5! That game was my favorite. Thanks for the memories bro. Nintendo should bring this game for Wii U it would be cool with the gamepad!

What about the TM at the end of MARIO PAINT?
i can check it out and see if it works if you want? :)
The Young Gamer cause i have da game :P
Sure!
Steven Lin ok, i need to find my mouse XDD
Also, I'm sorry if nothing happens, I'm also sorry that you went through all this trouble, just to find out what the TM does.
3:49 I'm surprised barley anyone got this, but in super Mario maker it shows an animation of a man doing sit ups while another guy holds his feet.
+Finn O'Hare Yeah i noticed that to!
Same with the letters on the title screen
+Finn O'Hare YEAH!!!!!!!! I just usually do NOT understand why when a secret character is made not secret anymore
+MegaLisa830 nice profile photo
***** me too

i really want a mario paint 2 for wii u to be revealed at e3...
I've got sad news for you...
Wow! So much creativity on a titlescreen, haha! Thanks for showing these off!
Also a rainbow might occur sometimes and it can be single or if you're lucky a double rainbow. That looks so amazing! I never realized any of it would be in there.
Mario maker does the same thing.
Wich makes since because Mario maker is
based on Mario paint
In Sonic Adventure 2, Big can be seen fishing in the Sand Ocean level just before the goal on the left of the screen.
Totaka's Song Challenge! To do it, count how many games you have that have been claimed to contain Totaka's Song and make a checklist for them. Each time you find or unlock one, tick it off.

Great Job =) I love watching your coolbits videos, they are amazing
for the finding him part, I'm not sure. he just comes and goes as he pleases. I would just wait
A Cool Bit in Animal Crossing: New Lead, is that if you stay in D.J K.K.'s music for awhile, he'll sing Totaka's song as well. It's pretty cool.
The planes sounded like the birds are chirping.
The "I" makes the music all "YTP'd-up". (YTP is short for TH-cam Poop, and one thing people do in it is make any audio sound all wobbly).
In Zelda Twilight Princess, you can perform the "Flourish Finish" after defeating a large enemy by waiting until they explode, then sheathing your sword
The second "I" always makes me feel like I'm shaking Mario Paint like it owes me money or something.
In nintendo's dsi and 3ds sound application, click on a sound so it just plays it once, wait for a while and the Mario theme will play.
Dude, I just said I get it, and they've been doing pretty well in making good thumbnails that stop that.
hey Andre, did you know in most of the mario kart games if you are in first place the music get a little bit more energy, (i'm mainly talking about mario kart 7)
The bell that you get in Links Awakening, has the same sound as when you select a level in Mario Land 2 6 golden coins. Woah
Yoshi also effects Totaka's song as well.
In faceraiders, one of the opening scenes is kirby's victory dance, complete with three face's to dance to it.
Hey Gamexplain, how many cool bits do you make for one game? Cause I have some for DKCR 3D!
Cool Bits. This is because of what I have subscribed to your channel!
In the New Super Mario Bros games, the Red Coin timer is the same as the timer for switches in Yoshi's Island. :D
Yeah but Art Academy is only for drawing and painting, Mario Paint has more forms of art like music, animation and it has a few games on it. The mouse is unneeded too with the touch screen
They do put Spoilers in the title, but it's at the end so if it's a long title, most might not see it, plus the thumbnail helps spoil stuff. :(
Pretty cool, so when's this coming out?
I have a suggestion for a Cool Bits moment. In Pikmin 1, have any of your Pikmin carry you back to their base. They'll try to put you in the Onion, but you won't fit. But what does end up happening is the Onion shoots out fireworks. Also the first game to feature Totaka's Song is X, a Japanese Game Boy game
Can you do some cool bits on Warioware, specifically D.I.Y? there are few, such as the hidden mario paint music, and the ballet dancers' heart shirt.
Tip: if you plug in a second controller to the SNES console, you can press Start (or whatever the button is) on P1's controller to start without clicking Mario. If I am incorrect on anything, you can tell how in another cool bit.
Holy shit! I didn't know about the stamp rotation trick until now. Mindblown!
in super smash bros melee there is a exclusive version target stage and music when you choose ice climbers on brake the targets from 1 player mode that is the 8 bit version of thier only game in the nes that the moving platforms are the clouds from the game
On Mario Kart 7 dino dino jungle, there's a sign with the sun from Super Mario Sunshine. After the first sign, you see a bit, but then turn around and you can see it.
Cool Bits for Animal Crossing New Leaf
If you cut down a tree with a special design for the rings, occasionally mushrooms will show up. One mushroom, that looks similar to a Super Mushroom from the Mario realm, when eaten, increases the players size and immediately goes back to normal height. Possibly a nod to Mario's taunt from the Super Smash Bros. games.
cool bits about the nsmbw reference in mario party 9. Some minigames you play, you'll see the backgrounds of new super mario bros wii
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, if you look in the middle house of Pokemon Stadium 2 while it's in ice mode, you can see a picture of Masahiro Sakurai's cat.
That is so cool!! Imagine using some of those mechanics in a game. Maybe on downloadable eshop game.
Stunt race FX/ Starfox Cameos
On the Night Cruise stage, crash into all 4 signs labeled StarFox. After ramming all 4, an Arwing will fly overhead and drop a powerup.
and in kirby's dreamland 3 several nintendo character appear in one time in certain levels on certain stages like the grassland level chao and goku appear in stage 4 and Donbe and Hikari and R.O.B. from sand canyon on stages 4 and 6 and samus from the iceberg level on stage 2
can you do a cool bit on kirby superstar and its remake to show his stone ability that has cameos form other kirby games and other nintendo characters
When you play the 20 km race walk, Half way through the event the pace speeds up and the music is the star theme from Super Mario Land.
totakas song is everywhere in cool bits.
Best episode ever
In Animal Crossing New Leaf if you stay in Club LOL Totaka's Song will play in a dubstep form,I think it only works with Dj K.k slider.
I have mario paint but i never noticed that!! Thanks gamexplain
animal crossing new leaf has totaka's song too, just do the same thing you would on the ds. and on thursday's dj kk will play totaka's song in a part of the music.
(Commented before finishing) OH MY GOD... THAT CODE... I MUST USE IT!
don't know if it's been mentioned yet but if you lef the game idle or turned the music after a while somebody sneezed or something.
I didn't know that hidden feature with the N. That's cool.
You missed a totaka's song opportunity at the end :p
Totaka's song is... da bomb.
*grabs a blue bob-omb covered in spikes* Here you go. You're not first so I have some mercy.
I’m not gonna lie, the “R” secret blew my mind!
In super Mario RPGs you'll see Link sleeping in a room mario checks in
I am a bit surprised you haven't done a cool bits on ROB being an unlockable character in MARIO kart DS.
came for Totaka’s Song
not disappointed
the ufo at 2:23 is undoubtedly from super mario land!
