You may have wanted Spike to stay - totally understandable - but Spike coming back for a day and a half, causing chaos, ruining everyone's love lives and then driving off into the sunrise without a care in the world is just perfect.
There are certain scenes in the seven seasons of Buffy that all viewers of reactions anticipate. The grave site scene is one of them. Darcie, you did not disappoint in your reaction.
Your absolute delight when you realised Spike was back, was fantastic. The Cordy fake-out still makes me tear up, no matter how many times i see it. Even if it is a fake-out its a very well done one and they do a great job convincing you she's a goner.
The reason given for the Cordelia death fake out was to make audiences realize how much they have actually grown to like/love her as a character in contrast with most viewer’s feelings towards her in the earlier episodes of the series. Have to say, it worked pretty well.
I've yet to see a reactor who wasn't overjoyed to see Spike again! And he so rewards us. I'm never sure which is the high point: Him commiserating with Joyce ("You got any of those little marshmallows?" 🤣), or stating the plain truth to Buffy and Angel ("Love isn't brains, children, it's blood, screaming to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it.") 😎
Spike, agent of chaos! Start: everyone apparently happy in their relationships, Spike depressed. End: everyone broke up their relationships and depressed, Spike happy.
Rule of thumb: if you absolutely must invite a vampire in, either kill them or do the uninviting ritual right afterward! Don't just leave an invited vampire running around, you never know when they might show up again.
I love that this episode makes it canon Spike enjoys hot chocolate with little marshmallows 😅 Joyce's default reaction to any supernatural situation is to offer hot chocolate I love it
I saw an interview of James Marsters on youtube. He said that he had the stunt crew light his hand on fire, and it was supposed to be on fire for 4 seconds, but he had it on fire for 8 seconds. Afterward, he was so embarrassed that he went to the doctor, had it treated, and didn't tell the crew.
Spike is always a fan favourite, and many consider the greatest character in The Buffyverse! Was great to see him back here. Lover's Walk another super episode keeping up the great quality of S3. All the relationships here are having problems Angel/Buffy, Spike/Drusilla and the Oz/Willow/Xander/Cordelia situation. Spikes monologue was very true regarding Buffy and Angel he really nailed it there. You can really see how the writing is now much more intense in that it really delves into the Psyche of each characters emotions. Season 3 is just banger after banger after banger!
they asked james marsters (who plays spike) if he had any experience with fire stunts, and he was desperate for money at the time so he lied that he did. then he seriously hurt himself doing that stunt.
Speaking of shirts, after Buffy ended they auctioned off a lot of the props and costumes on ebay. I won (overpaid) for a shirt that one of the characters wore in a later season.
SPIKE'S BACK!!! Great reaction to him. I unintentionally hit the forward button to the point where she said "We haven't seen Spike in forever" (it was the first thing on the video I heard) and laughed considering the episode it was.
I absolutely love your hair, makeup, and wardrobe in this video! And we've got Spike back. Always, always entertaining when he's on the show. And loved the Grease 2 interlude there. I was actually singing along. I prefer Grease 2 over Grease, personally. Now as for the relationship dynamics here, honestly, I'm not mad at everything that's happening here as a result of Spike coming back and spoiling that nonsense between Willow and Xander. It needed to happen. Pity about Cordelia being collateral damage, though. She absolutely did not deserve any of that. Oh, but I totally love the Joyce and Spike dynamics. That's the friendship we didn't know we needed on this show.
hahaha another one falls for the great Cordy death fakeout. I love it. Season 3 at this point is when the show is hitting on all cylinders, it's an amazing string of episodes! And it only gets better
I love the scenes with Spike and Willow and with Spike and Joyce, we don't get enough of those, He can't kill Willow, because he needs her to do the spell, and he won't attack Joyce, either. 20:35 BEST FAKE OUT EVER! Some time before Buffy, Charisma Carpenter did have an accident where she got impaled in a similar injury to the one she gets in this episode. She still looks so good, even without makeup.
24:50 "[Spike and Dru] deserved better, either to die, or... I don't know." Sounds like Spike complaining about Dru not killing him, which (to him) would have shown that she cared! Also: very much the correct reaction to the Cordy fake-out. I mean, it was brilliantly executed, but just... kinda evil!
Grease 2 fan? I am here! Gotta love the way Spike comes into the episode. Drusilla really messed him up, but it makes for a great episode. And I love reactor's growth with Cordelia, especially when we get the fake out death scene moment.
Spike was originally supposed to die in season 2 but he is loved so much they kept him alive also after angel kills spike him and dru were supposed to be the new big bad. I don't know if knowing that helps with spike and dru not getting their ending. I'm just glad they kept spike alive he is my favorite.
Seasons 3 and 5 are utterly fantastic. Full power on in nearly episode. Though, Season 2 has Spike & Dru and Angelus, with some truly great episodes. So I think most Buffy fans (though not all) consider these 3 seasons to be the best overall.
This is one of the greatest reactions I've ever watched!!! You absolutely slayed it Darcie (pun intended)!!! The first time I watched this episode and when I saw Spike fall out of the car, I knew right then that this episode was going to be an instant classic (I've lost count of how many times I've seen it, in fact I'll go ahead and say it's in my top three favorite Buffy episodes EVER......"Halloween" from season 2 and "Dopplegangland" from this season which you'll get to are my other favorites). Okay, you got in a "Grease 2" reference!!!!! I've always felt that "Grease 2" is an underrated movie, so you're not the only fan!!! Again great reaction as always!!! Many blessings to you and yours.
I was so excited when you broke into a Grease II song. It was one of my favorite childhood movies, and I cannot tell at this point whether my love for it is ironic or genuine.
I can't believe that no one has mentioned that Cordelia's injury (falling and being impaled on a piece of rebar) is something that happened to the actress as a child! Also - wonderful reaction, this was a delight from start to finish. ^_^
during the summer between season 2 and season 3, there was a magazine article, with a poll that came out about the death of Miss Calander and who you would have take her place. Cordy was the overwhelming winner of that poll.... some of us (me) wrote a long articulate, prose filled article about how it should be Cordy, how there was very little, besides snark that she brought to the table... the funeral moment put me in my place.... I never took any of the characters for granted again....
Omg! How are like, a million years younger than me and are still my spirit animal? When you started singing the bowling song from Grease 2 I lost it and immediately started singing with you. It may not be a popular opinion but I love Grease 2 so much better than one. Better songs, funnier, and the leading lady didn't have to change and slut herself up to appease to the main lead and his friends in order to be accepted. Cool Rider is my fave song from the movie. I wasn't much for Cordelia, but I felt terrible for her for what she endured. There's only one season where I kinda liked Xander, and this is not the one. Now, as for Oz....❤. Seth played him perfectly and I adored him. He treated Willow like treasure and lifted her up with praise and support so that her self esteem just blossomed so quickly. My man, Spike...when he showed back up in Sunny D..your expression was like mine when I first watched this. Only, I screamed with excitement. Don't know if someone told you already, but he wasn't slotted to come back, but because the fans went crazy for him, he earned his return. James is a phenomenal actor and definitely made Spike unique. He takes a monologue, like the he did to Angel and Buffy, and makes it so epicly memorable. Plus, his character helped build the lore of the fab fanged four: Darla, Angel, Druscilla and Spike. Even though Willow was just as wrong as Xander, I think outside of this bad decision, she rarely made any that warranted a longer feeling of disappointment and annoyance, unlike with Xander. She finally got the attention of the boy she's been crazy about since they were little kids and felt validated, only for her to realize she didn't need it to be happy and with someone else more worthy. Btw, loving your "future edit self" two toned hair.😅 There's only one thing that didn't make sense in this episode. When Spike was drunk and yelling at Angel through the door frame, Angel should have heard his voice because vamps have super hearing. Also when he was screaming on fire in the morning. Angel should have heard that too.
It's worse to be drinker without hangovers. Hard drugs gives you consequences but when you can drink whenever you end up screwed shortly down the road unless your name is Ozzy Osborne
I just read someone else's comment that said there's a quote attributed to Joss Wheden: "Buffy happy, show bad." 😶😶😶😶🙁🙁☹️☹️☹️☹️😖😖😣😣😣😩😩😫😫😭😭😭😭😭 Explains so much about this show.
i always hope someone will make the correlation, but it seems to be only me after 5 million rewatches. I now understand what Cordy's actual fear was in the episode season 1 episode 10 ''Nightmares''....

Angel is reading existentialist literature in his dimly lit room. Maximum brooding
Spike & Joyce = the best duo we never knew we needed! All their scenes are GOLD!
Plus the best example of writers trolling the fans ever in this ep!
And Willow and Spike
@@ElfsArt24 yes, their scenes are terrific too!
It needed a cartoon spin-off
I would love an entire episode of just Spike and Joyce. They are great together.

I almost bought little marshmallows (which I haven't had in years) at the grocery store last time - just because I was thinking about this episode!

Yeah, he decided to do a second or two of him 'realising' he was on fire, and that was stupid 😅
Had you ever imagined , season one, episode one , getting this upset over Cordelia?
