Yellow Belt in Judo from 30 years ago and never learned this. Within the first month of BJJ I did. In training with a ready opponent, works just fine. In a competition or full speed spar seems a good way to hurt somebody. As seen in the video. However, using it as a sweep.....mind blown.
I' m jujitsuka and I used this technique against an heavy judo black belt when je was pushing. Work Wells as it's not something that people are used to.
Another career ending throws that majority of respectable judoka would avoid. there is a good chance that poorly executed ude gaeshi will end up breaking opponents arm on the way down...
What's about this version? Looks definitely safer - uke hand is not tangled/blocked in gi (broken wrist!), arm is not straightened, throw is executed by pulling whole body not only straight arm. th-cam.com/video/EHxSO0S1XVw/w-d-xo.html
If you look at the technique, done properly it simply forces your opponent into a forward roll. It shouldn’t be done where you twist their arm off like a crocodile death roll. That’s why it can be practiced from the guard until the technique is smooth.
