@@pbp6741 I used to get annoyed that Darren would use subliminal messaging as his framing. There’s been so much misinformation about it for decades that people really believe it and were misled into thinking this was more than a trick. It was sort of like a modern-day version of attributing to “the spirits.” He’s come around in more recent years IMO.
People need to ask themselves, if we are this susceptible to manipulation, is it possible many of the beliefs we have been told in school, from history to science to math and language, is it all accurate? Or are we dancing to the whims of programming ?

In case you're interested, Disney Channel has (or had) a series about mind/brain tricks. Really cool stuff. They do experiments with you (viewer). Even when you are aware of the topic the chances are that you'll get fooled, i.e. with a person in a gorilla suit who walks through a film set. They tell you you are going to see something unusual and ask a couple of questions before they start the clip. While watching you are busy with finding the answers to the questions.
Another experiment (if I recall correctly) is that you are going to see experiments with hotel receptionists, who won't notice that their hotel guest who is asking questions are in fact two different people. While you are watching the experiments you'll get fooled too.
Great series if you are into Darren Brown stuff. And PS, The Learning Channel (TLC) has series of lectures on how the mind works, how you can easily memorize many things, how you can calculate very fast with big numbers without a calculator or pen and paper. These series are not free, but it might be interesting too.
What was fascinating about the video was showing how much we pick up from imagery all around us. Also disturbing to see how easy it was. Anyone with sufficient time and resources, and a targeted audience, could guide an outcome.
But it's a trick 😉
But Derren is a magician and it was just a magic trick. Suggestion is just the cute story that makes the trick interesting.
@@pbp6741I concur. That was my spin on it. In fact I didn't even know he was a magician... but when he picked up the envelope but insisted the ad man open it, I knew it was just a slight of hand trick, all the rest was to sell the trick in the end.
They do, every single day with the public. We're all being manipulated and controlled.
What if they spent their taxi journey looking at their phone, this would have turned out very different. Unless Derren used his mind control powers :D
I worked in advertising for a good many years in the early noughties. I can confidently say, if someone gave me the same duty/ proposition that Derren gave to these guys, my response would be "You need to speak to our art department. They're the ones who make the pretty pictures. I/ we do everything else."
Who knows, maybe when Derren was on the phone to their company, he told them that he'd be asking them to produce ads, so they sent people (artists) from the art department.

I understand the concept in asking for your help is fundamental in the hope that you see i have chosen my words with slow and careful consideration of the non pitch format in order not to insult you or the team that supports you.
I have always believed that LOGIC is the true game changer until I started to question my formula or is the prefect pitch i.e. do the math, because LOGIC is used as life's building blocks which debunks the phrase its not rocket science.

If this was truly subliminal influence, the cues didn't work on me. I was going with, "Don't be a stiff, visit our Taxidermy store". I think this was a slight of hand trick, the host certainly acted like a magician - up selling the whole way. The cues were there only to sell the idea in the end. I think they watched the "Ad Men" on hidden camera and drew up art that was similar. There was slight of hand used to switch the envelope somewhere.
But I liked the video.

I wish Derren was my real dad...
It's good to see this being demonstrated, but it's not new. We mimic what we've seen and base our ideas on art, music, behavior, and all kinds of things, based on what we've seen or experienced, because it's all we have as input. As a young musician, I refused to listen to anything other than my own material as I was creating it, and I refused to watch television or movies or anything as entertainment. I instead listened and visualized the sounds and sights of nature for inspiration.

Okay so I know that anyone reading this is going to think . This lady is insane , but here goes anyway. I’m 48 years old and when I was 25 I had went to jail in Evansville , In . for an incident involving a domestic dispute between myself and an ex -boyfriend . At the time I had dabbled in some drugs but that wasn’t why I had went to jail. I had seen holographic images while in jail and yep I already know what your thinking . ...Well you were on drugs . Well I haven’t done drugs since and I can attest to this day that this happened. Do you think that jails use this as a scared straight tactic? This has boggled me for years? Do you think that Fbi , Dea or someone would use this to get people off of drugs? It happened at my home when I got out of jail . I know and GOD knows that it was no hallucinations. I will go to my grave knowing the truth that someone did this.
