It's still a swedish song written in swedish. Åland may belong to Finland now but Åland used to be part of Sweden the same way Finland used to belong to sweden. The people from Åland have a very swedish side to them and it's part of their history. Finland and Sweden share alot of history so that is why it's both finnish and Swedish song for me. This is a beautiful song so let's focus on that. Does this song have a finnish version sung in finnish?
@@lemonsunshines601 There is a Finnish text too but it doesn't fit the melody rhythm like the Swedish text with short words does. As a Finnish-speaking Finn, speaking Swedish as well, I think the Swedish language is the only right one to sing this lovely folk song.

My mother used to sing a french version of this version when i was growing up.
My brother and i sing it still to our children.
She passed away 2 weeks ago, i remember her voice still. The song etched in my mind despite not hearing her sing it since i was a child

My father took his life, and this was was the song that we played at his funeral, i still play this very often as i remember him, he was a great dad and i have many great memories of him.

I like singing this song. Interestingly, Dans and Norwegians pronounce "Vem kan förutan" as "Kem kan förutan". Anyway, I love Swedish, it is more potic and pretty language across nordic languages. also pronounciation is easier compared to other nordic languages, in my opinion.
