as an eng lit major in uni, I ironically fell out of love with reading. It quickly began to feel like a chore and I never wanted to do it for fun. But one "genre" that got me back into reading again was translated books! They are amazing because they immerse me in a new culture and the plots+characters are always unpredictable which is a huge plus for me 😃
Same! I was also an English lit major and had to read so much for my classes that I began to resent it cause it always felt like too much. Plus, I of course had to read lots of stuff that I didn't enjoy lmao
you always upload the most perfect video at the exact right time! I've been trying to get back into reading and this video just gave me that motivation and courage i needed to start again thank you ! hope you are doing well
nothing beats the feeling of excitement i get whenever you upload; especially now that i have a pile of books just laying around waiting to be read. thank you so much for the tips 🤎
eeek i just got into reading recently and i'm so here for your booktube era!! more book content pls :) also i got back into reading in July when my friends and i got into the booktok algorithm, but we were not very impressed by popular booktok recs so i'm so happy that you feel the same way and it's refreshing to have these book recs that are so diff from what i see elsewhere online!
*looks at the seven books on my end table.. then half the books on my book shelf..* A part of my logic was the "self help" and the "in case the internet/electricity goes down", I'll have something to read..!! At the same time, there's just sooo much content out there blasted onto your monitor and you just.. read.. and watch.. and it's never ending.. How many tabs do YOU have open on your computer RIGHT NOW..!?!?
hey, jem! i miss youuuuu and i love the fact that your new video is about books. npw, if it is not too much to ask, can we have your notion book summary template? and omg a new podcast ep!
how to fall in love with reading notes for me to look back on :> ▪︎look back in time, when the last time you truly enjoyed reading ~feeling lost on what to read? go back to genres that made you feel passionate about reading ▪︎don't get lost in the goal: like increasing vocabulary, increasing intellect, to be trendy, to escape, to have fun, etc. ~don't be focused on the goal ~read a book you enjoy :> ▪︎intentionality ~be aware of passive reading ~you can do tabs, summarize, take notes, and many more ~find a way to write down your thoughts about the book
I would also recommend thinking what makes you want to read books. It can be story, genre, author, rating percentage, popularity, topic etc... Just try to find that one thing that attracts you to books that you're reading.
im a cw major so i don't think i've never Not read in the last 3 years although my non-academic reads have definitely dwindled over the years 😭 my "passion" for reading has significantly grown back this year though and i think it's because i opened a goodreads account which is a funny thought like i just get so fulfilled seeing my finished books list pile up and obsessing over the stars i give them (and also getting a kindle which made me stop opening twitter in the middle of reading)
Im the same with ereaders i normally prefer physical books but I have so many physical books I have reader and still on myshelfs since 2020 since I got back into reading, I am at that age where there nothing I need really and I love reading, now if im reading from an ebook I use my ipad and I think its ok but I am constantly trying to think wethere to get more physical books or stick to e reading for now, one min I decide to not buy anymore physical books then I want to buy physical books or to go to my ereader till christmass at least I just cant make up my fliping mind.
i have realized i dont really know how to describe a character or much in general like i feel like i want to understand and know how to analyze them but i have a hard time doing that i dont really understand or know how to
