- Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains may be the best retro RPG that you've never played. Originally only in Chinese in the late 90's, it's now on consoles and in English. This is a review of the Nintendo Switch version and I kind of love it.

This game looks really interesting ❤ I even noted that it will be getting a physical version on the Nintendo switch something this year❤️ ( much like Xuan Yuan Sword 7 ) so I will definitely be picking this game up when it’s available physically for my switch

Has anyone experienced issues with the game freezing in the menu? This has happened to me twice when trying to read long descriptions of items in menu.
Did you ever play Twin Blades of the Three Kingdoms? I haven’t played it and don’t know if it’s any good, but I ordered on PlayAsia as they were selling it for a low price. While the graphics look pretty bad, I’m excited to play it as the gameplay looks similar to Suikoden. If anyone has played it, let me know if it’s any good.

This game came out in the early 2000s. It’s a port so most likely the company won’t get re-released in physical. You can also play this on your iPhone and Mac if you search this in Chinese.

@@robertrogers3055 Actually the game came out in 1999. I played in the early 2000s so got the time mixed a bit. It was one of the best RPGs in the Chinese region at that time due to it's story, art and combat for the Chinese audience but with JRPG influences. They hired a well known Japanese artist to create some of the cover art and game design.
Recently Softstar (the IP owner & creator) is porting all of their legacy best games to every platform such as Steam, Switch and phones. They are just reaping the nostalgic without any improvement so don't hold your breath that they will re-release this in physical or fix any bugs & translations.
But it's a fun game to play, it has always been my top 10 games.
