Came from Jess's video! Love the art but my jaw literally fell open at the opening scene -- that rocket playground structure is one of my strongest memories from childhood!
I love the references in here to Shulman’s career Played for the dragons and I assume he defeated the roosters and eels in clutch games? Wonderful piece!
It's funny how different people interpret the same art piece. I see it as Shulman is the rooster. A bantam is a small breed of chicken. The roosters are know to be rather aggressive, I'm assuming that's where the nickname came from.
Oh The team he played for are the dragons The roosters are another team And the eels are another team St George Illawarra dragons Sydney Roosters Parramatta eels I haven’t followed rugby league for years and I didnt know much about Shulman but there is a link there to some information about him and that’s how I came to those conclusions :) He sounds like an amazing person with a lot of heart and this is a great piece of art to represent his time playing the game :)
Shulman is the (bantam) rooster, wearing the red V of St George team, shaping up to the Dragon after killing the Eel (77 grand final reference). Also called Mighty Atom early in career hence the insignia on his chest.

As always excellent artwork! As a long time fan of Boris and Ciruelo I hope you do more dragons. This one is on level with theirs, which is high praise indeed. Also they both have extensive drawing pads etc... Maybe all artists do but I've only seen reference to it from their books and your videos. Keep on amazing!

Hey Greg. You are my favorite artist by far. I have heard you say in your videos that you aren’t a teacher and I understand that. I would really love if you made a video explaining your process of painting a single character the best you could. Do you draw the characters out on the canvas first? Do you start by covering the entire character in a mid tone color then add shadow and highlight colors? How you approach the light source? If there is a cast shadow on the character, how do you approach that? I have never been to any sort of formal art school but I started painting and doing digital art maybe two years ago. Everything I have learned so far has been through different online resources like TH-cam, skillshare, etc. any insight you have would be super valuable information for me. I wish honestly you even just had a paid course where you and the “student” paint a simple character together. I would pay good money for something like that. If you could possibly make a video even just showing your basic process I feel like it would be a huge asset to the people trying to learn online and that don’t have the possibility of getting a formal education. Thank you for the videos that you do make and I want you to know you inspire me daily. If I’m in an art funk all I need to do is throw on one of your time lapse videos and it gets me motivated. Like I said, thank you.

I use both. Usually depends in the weather and humidity
My money is on the rooster. I have roosters, and Ol' Toothful wouldn't have a chance.
