The amount of acrylic fine art advice out there is sparse to say the least, so when a wizard like you help us out, it's a godsend. Thank you Greg. Keep doing your magic!
I got some cheap begginer acrylic paints but i suck at them and they really do dry fast before i can blend them the way i want, hope this vid helps a bit
@@Silver-nn5ey My best advice for least money. A bottle of diluted glazing medium or airbrush extender/medium will help you blend colors easier and longer. Using a spray bottle sparingly, you can keep the paint wet on the canvas and on the palette.
I’m sure I speak for many people when I say that I’m profoundly grateful for you taking the time to share your knowledge and skills with us. I hope to see more videos like this from you in the future. Everything you do you do incredibly well, but I’d be particularly interested in hearing your approach to painting textures and highlight/shading from imagination. Thank you for this video 🙏
But then he would be giving away his trade for free. He ain't some chump on twitch painting anime characters after all. He should only livestream for those who are willing to pay for it.
I've been painting for a couple of years now and l got plenty of inspiration from just watching your videos but never expecte you sharing your secrets behind the master pieces, l really appreciate this knowledge, 1000 thanks Grandmaster!!! Blessings to you and all your family, you are a true one
Thank Sir! I'm going to give this a try. One of my great frustrations with acrylics is the quick dry time and the lack of blending I'm able to do in some instances. Thanks for the tip.
I love your artwork. The amount of detail is incredible and every time I look at one of your pictures, I see something I hadn't noticed. The design and world you have created is superb and I look forward to seeing more video's of your paintings.
I started out painting in oil paints because of how fast acrylics hardened on my pallete and canvas. I would get so frustrated and use so much water that the pigments would change and get diluted so quick! Thank you for showing this to us. Love your products on trekell -much love !
I’ve spent too long trying to find the best acrylic paint for my use and style and I had never heard of Nova until I came across your videos. Your style and techniques have helped me better myself with acrylic (used to be an oil paint guy but dry time and quick dry mediums were all too much). Big thanks for the advice you’ve given. Greatly appreciate it.
Invaluable information Krayola. Sanding the gesso surface is a big deal too as a final varnish will look sandy otherwise. Just got back to acrylics after decades of oils, so this tutorial and materials list is gold. Test canvas is life.
You are my favorite acrylic painter by far, I can't believe this is acrylic. I've been a professional tattooer for over 20 years, I also have a custom guitar shop and sculpt monsters but I've never painted with acrylic or oil, for some reason it just never inspired me until I found your TH-cam channel. After I finish a few sculpting and guitar projects I'm currently working on I'm going to try my hand at acrylic. Thank you for the inspiration, you are freaking amazing.
Thanks alot for sharing this blending technique! Acrylics dry way too quick and this is really helpful. Love your work! I got your books, keep up the great work. Fan from Australia.
Been watching you for years and you’re the reason I got back into acrylic painting. Thank you for making this video because I’ve been trying to figure out where I’ve been going wrong.
I used to paint with oils years ago and wanted to get back in but with acrylics because they're less toxic. I was getting frustrated because of the drying time. This video was super helpful. I happen to have both mediums on hand in Golden brand. I had no idea I could use them together! Now I'm going to give acrylic painting another try! Thank you!
I was never into painting or drawing. I didn't have the ability I could barely draw stick figures that look like stick figures. Then about a year ago or so I just happened to see one of your videos and I decided to start drawing. And now that's opened my eyes to a new hobby I love. Thank you for giving me that motivation to do something new.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I've been wondering about Nova products for a while and especially their retardant as a muralist working large scale and your video is honestly a Godsend. I can't thank you enough
wow this is God sent. I purchased oil paints due to the my lack of knowledge in finding a slow drying method for acrylic paints. Thank you so much for this video. Also, your work is so inspiring thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for this. Watching your videos has always inspired me but has also carried an air of intimidation. Watching your process in real time makes the techniques you use seem achievable and encourages me to keep trying.
You are so talented and it's very gracious for you to share your tips and instruction. I started painting a few years ago after an injury and still don't have confidence in my work, one day! I use 50cent bottles from Walmart because it's what I can afford and make my own gesso, I cherish the few brushes I have and have always wanted to paint something big! I get small canvass as gifts from friends for painting but never even as big as in the video. I am going to just keep watching your videos and be grateful for your tips and guidance. Blessings to you
This is awesome......Thanks I did some paintings in oil (my very first oil painting was a commission of a 2 person potrait in color, sold for a small amount of $250) and found that the smell was to much for me. I've since been sticking with acrylics now. I love this new knowledge about the slowing down the drying time, this is great news. I've been kinda stuck for a few years and working on pulling my ass out of the slumps, dust myself off and get painting again. Been in like a blocked mind just trying to get started again. Watching great painters like you helps a lot.
I love what you do man. I always watch your videos and it blows my mind what you accomplish with acrylics. I mainly paint in oils and acrylics always give me such a hard time. I'm definitely going to give this a try.
Thank you for making videos. I’m no great artist, but I am an artist who follows and studies other artists who’ve influenced and inspired me. Great to see insights of other creatives.
Man thanks! I've have been fretting and struggling with a BIG painting and having the acrylics stay wet for the blocking in and blending is going to totally change my work speed now. I had been mixing the medium with each color of paint and it was taking for-EVER!! Awesome and helpful video sir. Love your work.😎👍
I’ve watched all your time lapse and last just before falling to dream I wished you’d make a video jut like this... this was waiting for me when I woke up🤣thank you immensely Mr Greg🙏
I'm love this video because I a huge fan of your work and I'm a starting to paint with acrylics is so cool of You charring your knowledge and tips with us, keep doing it maybe in the future a small painting tutorial pleaseeee!!!😍

Well I have watched 5 of your videos so far today, and I have to say you are now my favorite artist. Your work has inspired me. I have only done a few acrylic paintings and a whole bunch of everything else. Tattoos, signs, oils, airbrush, and several other mediums. It's your content that's going to make me go out and buy the materials I need to start my journey, so thank-you.
Right on! Thank you very much, it is so intriguing to see your process...I have never been a fan of "How-To"...or "the easy way to" but just being able to look over your shoulder is priceless. Paintings are not manufactured but develop through a process, and it is a privilege to watch yours!

Hey, Greg, thanks for the insightful demo! I'm thinking about getting your brush set and getting into acrylics again. I've been an oil painter for a while, but I like that you can work faster with acrylics. I'd love to see another demonstration about your brushes, i.e. what each one does. Thank you!
Thank you for the knowledge. I always had to speed up my strokes when applying my layers. This will help my next project greatly. This is my first comment, but have been subscribed to you for many moons. So I will compliment you and your imagination and originality... extremely impressive.

Thank you for your comment. It's funny my mentor growing up is named Jim Aukland. He taught at Otis art school out here in Los Angeles California. A few years ago he moved with his family to Aukland New Zealand and opened Takapuna Art Supplies www.tasart.co.nz . I was invited out there to teach a seminar but due to work and family obligations, I was unable to go. They host art classes and seminars with some of the finest artists from my scene and around. Thank you SO SO much for posting... just at the right time. I have just started acrylics and was watching oil painting videos trying to replicate their technique and I was frantic to find a way to slow drying time. I found so many of the mediums make paint too transparent.. How brilliant adding retardant.
